I'm allergic to cat but my grandma's loves them. The only cat that was super affectionate was the one I had since I was a baby to about 11. I was always coughing and sneezing next to her so my grandma got rid of her and I think she gave them to her neighbors since she was she well behaved cat, they took her.

I have had rescue cats who sometimes took a long time--years-- to show affection because of their earlier hard lives. But eventually almost all changed. Some more than others, but kind treatment and not trying to force my needs on them has always worked. Patience works in the long run. And I always felt even if a cat couldn't love me, it would apprecaite a warm safe home and regular meals.

So sweet! I was an opera singer for several decades, and when I practiced at the piano, learning a new role, my cat and two dogs would come sit on the piano bench with me, or curl around my legs beneath the piano. It was my favorite time of day!
