The last game vs the Orc -- that's actually a Russian guy who goes by the name *RostovDark* on W3C (and on BNet before that too, iirc. I dunno what's with his "German" flag here...). Plays *THAT EXACT SAME STRAT* every. single. damn. time. (at least vs. Undead) It *may **_LOOK_* simple to beat, but it takes *A LOT* of effort, time and patience... One small misstep, and you may lose *BADLY* as UD... Grubby handled it well, although he did get lucky on a few occasions, whereas his Orc opponent -- not at all. TRUST ME -- this strat is *annoying AS HELL* to play against. IIRC, the guy, in his peak moments, had like a 90% win rate against UD with it, even if his other races winrates were like ~50%. .

my buddy learned to be a better gamer because i took to the 'build a fort' strategy. he would basically 2v1 while i built my army and towns. he kept them busy and when he got bored or hurt he would lead them to a fort and *"!"* at a location and id send the swarm. he never got me good enough to macro but i can remember his laugh as the wave ov ~90food reinforcements came around the tree bend and we wiped their bases.

Good manners are just a way to show respect. If I "glhf" and the other player doesn't say something back, just comes off as rude. It would be a bit like saying "Good Morning" to someone and they just ignore you and continue on, like you don't exist.

Bit confused at the gg convo, pretty sure it did originate in the west, which is why it's "gg" and not a translation, was around the 1980-90s with arcade games, starcraft and diablo. And it is common at the end of dota 2 matches, and back when I still used to play wc3 custom games was common at the start too, sad to see it fading from popularity, but was good times.

People are getting extremely anal about it, to the point where it comes off as either obsessive or an excuse to bully people. It also means its easy to rile people up by simply doing nothing, and that naturally invites such behaviour

About the civility and glhf/gg: I've been playing For Honor for a while. I'm happy to say that in 1v1, the majority of players I've faced, salute with an emote in the beginning of the fight and end with a "Good Fight!" quick-chat message. There are no rules for or against it, but it massively impacts the atmosphere of the game, knowing that you're in a respectful match, instead of a toxic quarrel.

As far as I remember, GG was a Korean thing that I know from Korean MMOs of the 2000s. Ragnarok Online most especially. The Koreans liked gg because it looked like an emote (something about a slack-jawed or snarling face?) the same way QQ/qq looks like crying eyes. (Which, just like gg, also means quit thanks to shortcut sequences like in WC3/DotA.)

16:45 I don't believe in saying "gg" when you win. You had a fun game? Cool. Doesn't mean someone else did. I know rare here, but in Overwatch, you can bet the winning team is gonna spam that after a one-sided stomp. And, of course, they don't type "glhf" first, nor do they "gg" when they lose the next game (I've seen that so many times). 17:01 Good. You got your game, go next or do something else. Humanity cant become "kinder, more considerate". Egoism is basic human nature. Education can lessen the impact, but unfortunately politics work on sabotaging it across the world - since gullible, naive people are easier to control.
