i built this yesterday, Fractal Terra 7800x3d + 4070 Super + Axp-90 x53 Full + FSP Dagger Pro 650W The cables aint difficult to run, easily could hv hide near the SSD space, so the channel between the psu and the mobo is free for better ventilation, I added a Noctua 120x15 pwm fan at the bottom. I undervolt both gpu and cpu, now this thing is quiet and efficient, Love the case a lot. Aesthetically great to be on the desk

All you needed was a 850W PSU. The maximum power draw of a 4090FE + 7800X3D system never even reaches 600W at maximum load.

I have a graphite Terra and love it so far. Your build looks really good and like you say it is a gaming PC so the temps are good. It would be nice if the bottom panel was easily removable, would have made plugging in the EPS cable much easier. I've built in several small sandwich cables so I plugged mine in before installing the motherboard.

love the graphite, you can barely tell its even a pc. if they could attach the movable spine to the front and back instead of the bottom, would enable bottom to also be removable

@@luckymeat3050 I have everything except the graphics card. I have to decide between a 4090 or a 4080 proart. It definitely won't be very quiet because everything goes flush with the case

@@paulguzzi5236 Yeah - I saw the Gamers Nexus review and, although they liked the case overall, noise seemed to be the biggest issue. They suggested it might be best for mid-range builds (which is what I'm going for) so I might try a vanilla 4070 or similar. Regardless, it's a beautiful looking case. Good luck with your build!

@@luckymeat3050 Decided to go for it last Wednesday, got all the parts on Friday and built it with a R5-7600X+7800XT+2 Noctua Fan mounted beneath it. The noise is definitely not low, but not too high either if you keep them in silent mode in BIOS. By my standards it‘s tolerable. So if you really want a super quiet ITX this won't be it imo.

My pc is 21 L but it was the first pc I've built. Has enough space for a 360 rad. It's silent with my fan curves and never tops 70c. Small PCs are the future

Love this case. You can put a cpu cooler that is under 73mm on it if you are running a 4090fe and 7800x3d. I tried the Axp90 x47 full copper with a normal Noctua a9 fan, but while it averages around 76c-77c after -25 curve was applied all cores, I do hit 89c on occasion while playing games. I will be getting a Noctua L12s (70mm) to replace it. Noctua recommends it for the 7800x3d at minimum. Also note that a SFX-L PU really needs custom cables. It’s a really stuffed chassis otherwise. I would absolutely recommend using a SFX PU for the extra room

Are you sure this is true? I'm about to build this set up, but with a 4080 FE, and pcpartpicker says the fan is too big... Struggling to find a sufficient fan for the 7800x3d

@@TheresSomeoneOnTheWing however, it does hit 89 ish when raiding in Wow with the axp90 x47 copper. I’m waiting on a Noctua nh L12s to put in there. Looks like the Big Shiriken 3 rev B would fit as well, but from what I’m reading, the Noctua will be quieter.

FYI, Optimum Tech (4yrs ago) did some tests in with this cooler in a similar sized case (ghost) and found that a slim fan in the bottom slot exhausting air dropped cpu temps a couple of degrees.

based on the fractal terra's specs, it can fit gpu and cooler as long as the total (gpu horizontal height/vertical width + cooler height) is less than 110mm. so 4080/4090 would fit if cooler height is less than 49mm.

4090/4080 FE fit but temps will go high, and performance will drop..this case is only for low/mid range builds.it's not good for 4090 or even 4080.whoever is telling you othrewise is lying to you.

dude u got me FUCKED UP measuring the sound of the ram insertions. mouth agape, brain fog, all cores running overdrive trying to figure out if that actually just happened. on a more serious note though, temps are probably only improved with the inverted power supply orientation because of how absolutely overkill it is. Lower wattage power supplies probably wouldn't be able to handle the heat flooding into their internals from the graphics card and would cause crashing, or worse brick the PC, although that is unlikely..

This case fascinates me and I need it in my life am some point. But I'm curious, wouldn't the Thermalright axp 100 full copper be the better cooler here? It only needs 1mm more horizontal clearance and is designed for 180w tdp.

If it's possible, It would be better to fit the IS-55 rotated 90° so the heatpipes are along the IO shield (may require very slim heatsink on RAM or bending some fins) so the airflow through the CPU cooler is north/south. At the moment, you're blasting it into the IO shield and the PSU with nowhere to go.

I'm very confused as how you can pull this off, 1. Ram clearance for the ID cooling IS-55 is 33 mm and yet you can fit the 34.9 mm kingston fury in there 2. The position of the spine should be at 7 to fit up to 62 mm thick gpu (the 4090 fe is 61 mm thick) which means the clearance for cpu cooler should be under 48 mm tall, yet you fit the 55mm one in Can you confirm which position of the spine you use? I really love this build but I'm afraid to pull the trigger on something that might not fit

My 4090 terra setup has a 67mm cooler. You can cut a tiny piece of plastic and get a lot more space (the hinge)

Go with a 12 series. Drastically less power draw and far lower temperatures. Very very minimal performance drop

I really enjoy watching your reviews and builds, you are natural at doing it. Although, the small form factors have their place, no denying thermals and limitations are the biggest draw backs. I went from full tower to Lian Li Air Mini and the space on my desk now is undeniably so much more comfortable and I think Lian Li Air mini might be the smallest ATX thus far if you go for full ATX motherboard. Recently I used Fractal Terra for my sons built using 3090 FE and 5950X, all at stock settings, sadly, during even light rendering workloads both, GPU and CPU hitting uncomfortably high temps. I have similar build with the 7800x3d I do have the l9a even tho it's not supported, is it just me or the top panel of the case becomes boiling hot when playing games ? Like to have feed back I'll probably switch the cooler im getting around 16500 in cinebench, also using 80 levels 2 cause the l9a won't cool it rn, so idk if I'm jus paranoid about the top panel but to me it's pretty hot

How does the 4090 FE fit with that 55mm cooler? The fractal terra manual seems to say that fitting the 4090 dimensions would only give you about 52/51mm of clearance left. Would be really helpful to know!

Only Founders Edition cards can fit inside as they're the smallest dimension of RTX 4080/90 cards.

I've been wondering the same. The 4090 FE dimensions still shouldn't fit like this. My guess is that Fractal measures the card height only on the cooling block and excludes the PCIe connector. It would be great if someone could confirm this though.

I think either the fractal measurements or the ID cooling measurements are a little off. The cooler he’s using also says it only has 33mm of RAM clearance but the RAM they’re using is something like 34.8 mm… so I have no idea

There are 2 big downsides to the Terra with a 4090 Founders. First the CPU has not much space left for a good cooler, meaning you are limited to 65W CPUs. You can see that the 7800X3D thermal throttles at 89°C, which IS bad. Second, in this build the 4090 heats up the PSU (it blows right INTO the PSU), that can lead to instability and crashes.

Even with mATX, 7800X3D will reach 90 degree. 17600 CB23 is good enough. Other reviewers with good cooling report 18200 so you only lost 3% performance.

@@robeytech In that case I'd recommend enableing Eco-Mode or limiting the PPT. For gaming a 75W target should be enough. Maybe even use the NA-FD1 fanducts from Noctua. :D

I don't quite understand the choice for cpu cooler. There is no cooler in this size that can officially handle 7000-series X3D processors, and if you would have done any study and/or looked at some test videos you would have known that Noctuas one is the best performer, even if they don't officially "support" it.

The worst itx build on KZbin. WTH. That PSU is overkill there are much better coolers now way that keeps that cpu cool in that case . The thermals under load are going to fry it. The cable management is bad, the psu is orientated wrong.
