It’s literally fine. Even without Luka, we’re a stong enough team to make the playoffs. And the playoffs aren’t even till April. Let Luka rest. And not just when he’s told he can play, because who ever keeps pushing him needs to be ignored. Mavs are a solid team. Kyrie alone can take us to the playoffs. It’s not a coincidence that Mavs when went to the finals once the Mavs got kyrie. We’ve got an amazing bench, and Jason Kidd is gonna push those guys to the extreme for the next month or so and make them star players. And then …Luka returns. NBA was aldready scared of us… they in trouble now, because we’re getting READY

I'm saying, we know we will have a winning record to say the least when Luka is back and we should still go at least .500 in the meantime with 19 wins already. I'm not counting last game with Luka's injury, Ky, Luka, PJ, Lively, and Klay are still undefeated in games they start together.

I think so, too. They're deep on offense and their defense likely improves with him out to help cover the loss in offensive production. The key for Dallas is getting him back healthy and getting enough time for them to fully gel and go on a run before the playoffs.

@ they played the thunder without chat or Hartenstein. OKC was playing their small forward at Center for fucks sake. They barely edged out Denver without Gordon and the clippers had injuries. They lost to Miami which is at best the seventh or eighth ranked team in the east. There are 10 teams in the league they are unlikely to beat until Luka comes back there’s another 10 teams that they will have to play good against to have a chance. Then there’s 10 teams they better beat every single time because those are the best chances they’re gonna have. I wouldn’t be shocked if in any random game this team got hot and beat one of the best teams in the league but they’re no longer a team expected to compete at that level. The point is they better get their shit together when they’re playing the bad teams because they can’t afford to lose any of those games Considering how many they could lose against the middle tier and elite teams in the league.

6-2 win lose ratio while knowing luka is back realtively quick , not the same as playing games knowing you don't have luka for at least 12-15 games !! I'm taking 50% wins off the lukaless games . Also every game has it's own dynamics and you can't really take some teams for granted .

Realistically they've won around half of their games with Luka playing sub par or sidelined completely. They should be good enough with all their offense and veterans to stay over .500 so long as everyone else is healthy. I don't think they need Luka to have a wining record. They do, however, need him to become a top 4 team in the league and have a legit shot at a title.

I would rather Luka even take 2 months out just so he doesn't eventually get an achilles injury like KD. if we'll be okay if KY and our core team can stay healthy

I believe we can get to a 5 or 6 seed without Luka! Our team is talented without him, just get him healthy. I really hope Luka learns a lesson from this season and takes the off season training seriously and really invest in his health. The older he gets he’s going to have to realize you just can’t party all off season, get out of shape then expect to play well and stay injury free. I truly believe a lot of his nagging injuries are because of him not being in shape. He’s getting to the age where he’s not going to be able to play his self into shape any more, to much wear and tear on the body.
@raychangsyd12318 күн бұрын
I like your emphysis on "not being in shape", but isn't that sole problem that he has over years? I hope he shares the same broad vision as AE.

This past off-season, he was playing with Slovenia to try and help get them past the Olympic qualifiers. So he did give himself less time after last year's playoffs to recover. But that would've been a huge honor for him representing his home country in the Olympics, so of course it was worth it for him! Now he's going to have to get healthy and recover fully this time. The team will need to step up their game and show how good their depth can be.

Hellz no you don't throw in the towel just because you lost a key player on the team. That's part of the adversity within sports. They are no longer the co-dependent Mavericks that needed Luka to save the day every damn game. Ask that of any one player and sooner or later they get hurt for too much Hero ball. I'm stating the obvious with this part but oh well. 5 on 5 basketball requires 5 players at a time, to play their asses off, as a Team. No slacking off, no half-assing. This isnt the time to keep saying "We need to trade for blah blah blah." Make it work with who you have! They can stand on business if they grind it out, and believe in each other. Iron sharpens Iron. The upcoming schedule will test them as they are. Nobody will care about who was out at the time. A win is a win, and they need to keep getting wins.

I Like that team and I think we are top 6 in the League, but not a contender yet. So this could help our supporting cast develop and then decide which kind of player we need to trade for. That could be good in the long run. And Luka might wake up now. He got injured without contact. So maybe He realizes how important fitness is now. Anyways this team will still get some wins and most important iwish Luka a fast and complete recovery.
@SDesWriter17 күн бұрын
Aaron Gordon went out with a calf strain the same day. Do you think Gordon doesn’t take fitness seriously?
@ehmtea875617 күн бұрын
@@SDesWriter So first of all maybe yes. He might have rushed his comeback and that is also a way of not taking your ftiness seriously as it is not athleticm but kind of healthyness. But I dont know. I dont cover the nuggets and even dont know how he got injured. And ofc you can not be sure. It just might be. But there have been scientific studies about that topic and german scientist compared the injuries of basketball players and came to the conclusion that injuries which dont happen with external contact (ball, player) are more likely occuring because either of too much workload/bad sleep etc. or not enough workout to prevent you from being injured which all is part of taking care of your body. And as I cover the mavs I think Luka does not do it. He gives more than he should on the court, participating in all ternaments to often and does not seem to be healthy all the time. My sources: R. Jesus you guys are insanely doomer. You follow a team that’s franchise player shows up barely in civilian shape every year so surely you expect him to have continuous small injuries. I’m a Mavericks fan myself but I made peace with the fact that Luka will always be nothing more than a cautionary tale of a player that was the most skilled player in NBA history but decided at some point that it’s easier to pump fake and bait fouls instead of going up hard to the rim or it’s easier to do low intensity lite workouts in the off-season instead of actually going the extra mile. . This is all just him sowing, then reaping. Make peace with it and it makes all the other players that more impressive and the team more fun to watch overall.

They should trade Luka to the New Orleans Pelicans for 6'11 center Yves Nissi & 6'9" forward Herb Jones...and possibly a #1 draft pick. T-H-I-S would enable more variation in the Mavs lineups using Gafford at PF + Lively at C with P.J. at SF to go with a big lineup. Luka cannot play fast and we can't use offensive/defensive sets with EVERYTHING running through a guy patting on the ball for 19 seconds before getting off the damn ball. He's got to learn what all great offensive talents must learn to win a championship against a real T-E-A-M. Get off the ball immediately. Setup teammates Share And...play tough defense and only take over when behind or at the end of games. Jordan, Bird, Isaiah, Shaq, Rick Barry et al didn't win blip until they not only trusted teammates but got them involved first. First! Not after you've scored the 1st 20 points or so in the 1st damn quarter. This may be good for sales, ratings and European inputs but is detrimental to the continuity of a championship basketball T-E-A-M!! Luka is a great offensive weapon but causes what I call the "Wilt Chamberlain effect" where everything revolves around and through O-N-E player who can only play one way while others are standing around...watching. Listen, I know they won't trade him but if they start Quentin Grimes in his place, he'll average 20 ppg & play incredible defense. Spencer Dinwiddie will lead the 2nd unit and Kyrie will be free to just score at will when needed. The tempo will be fast defense will be quick, long there's less reliance on the trey Plus every member of the T-E-A-M will be involved making it impossible to game plan for. There will be instances of 7 and 8 men in double figures, everyone engaged, everyone needed and no hero ball. Doing T-H-I-S, They will go on runs of 7-3, 8-2, 9-1 and 10-0. So...if Doncic is out for at least the next 40 games I predict their record will be 52-18 after 70 games with the #1 defense and #5 offense!!! With Luka they're not a top 5 defense, are stagnant with a Wilt Chamberlain type player doing it all while others stand around. Without him they can beat Boston and have no weakness cuz Kyrie can be unleashed at the appropriate times.

Man you are R-E-T-A-R-D-E-D, did I spell that slow enough for you? They were literally the no.1 defense when they got pj and gaf after the all star break last season. Luka has been playing good defense ever since he came back averaging 2 steals 3 weeks ago seeing how the team played without him for 8 games so he has been more active so from that prospective I can tell you are B-L-I-N-D and don’t watch mavs ball If you seriously think trading luka for some really good defensive role players is gonna fix the team and turn us into a 1st seed and championship team. Then you are D-E-L-U-S-I-O-N-A-L
