Difference is Grimes would be a restricted free agent
@countfloydschillerhorrorth20906 күн бұрын
What do you THINK that DJJ did. Most mavs fans expected that DJJ would require at the minimum the 12.5 MLE and would be lucky to get him at that. Instead Shoes offers him a low ball offer that he got angry about and refused and then they signed Naji to that same low ball offer(great deal but Naji isn't a POA Defender this top 3 defense had) and what was the excuse. Oh he has a new agent he can't sign so you can't blame the mavs. Nope that wasn't true at all as him signing less than a hour later for basically the same amount (and actually much less due to taxes) in LA. They could have traded for Naji whom the Pels were letting walk and kept DJJ and wouldn't need to think about Herb Jones. Herb is better as he's the next level DJJ. But you wouldn't have to trade Gaff,3 picks and probably hardy and omax to get him either(just give the man what he defended for and keep that damn top defense. Which which if they trade for Naji would then probably be the best defense and not just top 3. And if they got Grimes. It for sure is the best defense in the league. That's what they should have done. hopefully they don't screw up the Grimes deal. We don't have guards that can guard guards. Much less a SF that can like they did with DJJ. AND..... Grimes is a tradable commodity in the future with salary. Something they barely have with Maxi.and Maxi with picks can only get you good cheap deals that everyone wants/ like Herb Jones being on a 9 mil a year salary. His next one will be twice that and if a contending team has cash, could be in the 20's.

Okay I'm seeing a lot of calls to re-sign Grimes and rightfully so. But a lot of you are not in the know. Kyrie is due an extension. He loves the Mavs but he is not THAT generous. He won't take a pay cut unless by some miracle. That being said the money to re-sign Grimes would have to come from somewhere. He's asking for 14 million. That is more than Maxi's contract and almost PJ's. Grimes is good but he's closer to Naji's price range of 9 m a year. In fact Nico offered him that but he declined. So the question you should be asking is not should we re-sign him (Nico tried). But this: is he worth overpaying? Me personally I would want to move Maxi and re-sign him. But I'm not giving him 14 million. He would have to compromise to a 10-12 million contract.

Grimes is a RFA. He wont be able to walk for nothing. Smart to see what they can get for him, if theres a deal that make sense I would do it. I really like Santi Aldama. If the Grizzlies really go for Cam Johnson, the Mavs should get in on it and become the third team. Mavs get: John Konchar from Grizz; defensive SG (6.1m, 3 years left) Santi Aldama from Grizz; defensive do it all big ( 3.9 m, 1 year left) Zaire Williams from Nets; expiring contract ( 6.1 m, 1 year left) Grizzlies get: Cam Johnson Quentin Grimes Dayron Sharpe Nets get: Jaden Hardy Maxi Kleber Marcus Smart Mavs 2025 FRP and 2025 second rounder Grizzlies 2026 FRP and 2027 second rounder Why Grizzlies would do this deal, they can save one of their own first round picks in a Cam Johnson deal and Cam Johnson would create a log jam at the position because they have a lot of good power forwards. It makes sense for the Mavericks because Santi Aldama will allow the Mavs to truly play 5 out while maintaining a good defensive front court. Jon Konchar is a better defender than QG but he's not as good offensively. The Mavs also get an expiring deal, so they can have space to resign Kyrie in the off season as well as resign Santi while staying under the first apron.

That's terrible trade fo Mavericks...
@Thedrunkguy14 күн бұрын
@nelAjamZ Santi Aldama is really good. You should look into him. He's a stretch PF that can also play small ball center so you can run a true 5 out offense. He's young, 24 years old, a good defender and a good passer for a big man. Think Maxi in his prime on steroids. Jon Konchar is mostly to make salary fit in order to stay under the first apron but he's a good finisher around the basket and a really good defender, better than QG, while being league average from 3. 2025 first round pick will probably be after the lottery so whoever you get if you do pick will most likely be a project player and second round pick will be to the middle of the second round. The only players you'll miss are QG and Hardy, but Hardy is just an off the bench spark plug which are a dime a dozen and QG will take the Mavs into the second tax apron if they resign him so it's best to trade him for value if the Mavs don't plan to go into the second apron. I respect your opinion but don't sleep on Santi, he's better than anything the Mavs would be sending out.

@@mikeyolvera4156 Yeah hope they don't do a Brunson repeat and that he feels he's already played himself out of what he would have accepted when they refused to offer it.

Cannot trade grimes. Maxi, exum, hardy, Kessler, and MAYBE omax are the only ones I’m trading. Larry nance and Lonzo ball are the only people I would trade for

Broken Ball????? I'm guessing he's got a contract that makes it not worth it. Plus a racist daddy I don't want to hear one more freaking word from.

we cant trade maxi his cap hit is to big for his old ass i think we are stuck with our current lineup. i dont see a plausible trade without hurting the team. we need grimes. hes the grim reaper. I also dont see Grimes playing this well with another team. you ? most people who left dallas are not doing well beside brunson and Porzingus
