Iwas at An Amish Dairy farm during the eclipse. There is an Amish school next door. The students all let out a huge cheer when the sun completely went behind the moon. They had fireworks that were set off during the darkness. There was another big cheer when the sun started to come back out. One teacher had studied up about the eclipse and had gone around to all 12 school and taught the students about what was happening and how wonderfully this displayed God's creation and how things are not just thrown together.

You need to have some of the electric wire fence strands grounded to earth rather than relying electrical contact through the ground. When there's snow it is not a good conductor and animals will press against the fence. . Also double check your grounding arrangements by the energizer. It's a Gripple, not a Grimple 😃

I experienced a total eclipse when I was ten, I am now 71. For this eclipse, we were in a partial eclipse area, and we had partial to total cloudy conditions. The thing I remember most was the wild birds singing loudly as it got darker, all quiet at the total point, then the birds starting to sing again. Glad to see the progress you are making on the homestead.

I remember it that way too. I was fifteen and it was totally cloudy. It got darker and the birds sang their nighttime song and then in a few minutes they sang their morning song. Pretty cool even then. Have a great day!

Mine that I saw many years ago was a total eclipse of the moon we also were supposed to be able to see 90% a vet but it was raining here in Louisiana as usual. But we didn't know when it was happening because it got dark like dusk then right again. Glad you enjoyed it because we'll never see it again in our lifetime

That is what I found amazing was the temperature change. We were not in totality, only about 90%, but we still had the drop in temp.

If you want the aesthetic of the wooden fence you could still manage it with some creativity. After installing the T-posts you could slide the wooden posts over top of them and then set up your fences that way. You would probably need to treat the bottoms to prevent rot but it's something to maybe consider for your secret garden area to try it out.

Good Morning! I would use steel chain link posts for the corners. Those PVC ones look pretty wobbly. The steel ones are not really hard to install: I use a water jet to dig them in about a minute, but I have decent water pressure. You could use a post hole digger or get a 4 inch auger for your tractor. You can just pour dry concrete in around the post and put water on top of it. Lasts 50 years.

We had 75 degrees the day of the eclipse. We got to 97% totality. It got a lot cooler, we put on t-shirts. It was like dusky here. All the birds stopped chirping but all our other animals it made no difference to them. We saw Venus and Jupiter. Was really cool. I have seen another full eclipse decades ago. We had a good breeze all that morning, but then the wind stopped during the eclipse, then picked up again after the sun started shining brightly again. It was an awesome display of God's universe. We were planting garden that day. Got really strange looking and I love it every time we have one.

We were in the "path of totality" also and had our son and his family of 4 little boys up for a cookout bonfire and eclipse watching. Here in WNY is was very cloudy but the quick darkness was fascinating! Our sheep didn't care, beef cattle didn't care, and our roosters didn't care (our hens are still in winter quarters downtown at our house until we "take care" of the roosters). We thought it was cool to watch the dark kind of "roll in" on one side, and leave on the other side (west to east). It also seemed to have jogs or steps in the darkness which was interesting. One 3 yo twin thought maybe they should leave but the other was willing to wait it out. I thought the whole thing was way more cool than expected! I love that you had little ones there also; seeing things fresh from little eyes is a blessing.

Good evening Tony! I'm up early today! I'm waiting for my sister to wake up. My CPAP machine just did a weird thing that her CPAP machine did to me when we switched machines. She's not getting good sleep and I may have a clue why now. I think her machine is defective. She runs out of water from her humidifier and mine doesn't do that when we have the same settings. I think her's is leaking right at the connection to the humidifier. Her hose fills up with water droplets and mine doesn't. I don't dry out from my machine and she does. I want to show her what my machine did all the sudden so she can see if her machine does that all the time. It woke me up. She wakes up a lot and doesn't know why. She feels like she isn't getting air and that's how it felt for me too. She's been suffering with this machine since last June when they replaced another defective machine for her. Her problem with that one was different. The sleep doctors have been no help getting her settings right. I think it's the machine and they aren't even looking at that. She had to buy her own power cord recently because the other one just burnt out. My machine surged when it acted weird this morning so I think I know why her power cord failed. The humidifier isn't sealing right. It makes the machine surge to get the air to her but it can't because of the leak so it draws too much current and burns out the cord. You're at the mercy of these machines and the sleep doctors have no idea that they can be defective. It's up to you to prove it to everyone. The sleep doctors have been very unhelpful and discounting to my sister. She switched to another sleep doctor but she only had a 15 minute appointment with her and then she won't see her again for a year. That doctor said to leave the settings as they are. I can tell my sister is getting more and more tired and then she gets suicidal. She can't help it. Her system can't take the little bit of sleep she's getting. I keep seeing her nod off during the day. I'm awake and she needs more coffee all the time. Not good! She has sleep apnea way worse than me. I only have something called restrictive airway but I qualified for a CPAP too. She was up to 10 apneas an hour with her machine recently. That's a lot! I have 2 or 3 a night with the help of the machine. They have to give her another machine! Hopefully the next machine won't be defective! You'd think there would be better quality control on these machines since they are medical devices. It's weird that the sleep doctors don't even consider that the machines could be defective and that's why a patient is having issues. They treated her like she was making her sleep problems up. The machine isn't recognizing that air isn't getting to her. It shows a smiley face all the time. Mine did that too when it did it to me. I can show her how I fixed it. I'm not sure if her machine can be handled the same way. Sleep is important! Sorry for the rant. I'm worried about her. It's great that my machine did this so maybe we can figure this out together. She needs her sleep.

Good morning Tony! Have a great day! I'm up early because I use a CPAP machine and it did a weird thing to me. I'm going to show my sister that has the same type of machine what it did. She's not sleeping well. Maybe we can figure out why. She keeps drinking more coffee and nods off a lot. Her machine must not be working right. I never had my machine act like this until last night. Maybe it's a related problem to hers. She needs her sleep! I'm glad Spring is here!

I am in Southern Illinois and this is the second time our area has totality. this time was only 1 and an half. But it was phenomenal \. Our village is 650 people and you would not believe how many folks were here. When it went total you could hear the kids cheering at the school and people cheering at the park. The Lord does give us wonderful things to observe.

Good Afternoon from MN. We had clouds, so no eclipse. Our weather is also great. I know at lest one farmer that has started to plant. I was thinking lambs or sheep, but you said you've never had them before. I guess we just have to wait and see.

2017 we traveled to Madras, OR and this year we traveled to San Antonio, TX to witness the totality. A very cool experience like no other. We are now discussing traveling to Spain in 2026 for the next eclipse. You guys were very fortunate to have eclipse path fall on your homestead. Thanks for the video.

We have invisible fence for our 2 acres for our dogs because it was the most cost effective! My husband didn’t think it would work but for 7 dogs it worked, unfortunately not for our very protective yellow lab! The problem being is that people don’t respect the signs for the dogs! Beware means just that! Not all animals, like people respect the fence or the signs! Peace and blessings! 🤗

Where I live we experienced 4 minutes of totality. My family hiked to the top of a bluff and every bit of that 4 minutes was incredible and we let out a whoop when it got dark...sunset colors all around, whippoorwills started singing, the wind changed, temp dropped, the color of the surrounding hills changed, and the light around the sun was just beautiful. Now I know why people chase totality.
