If you think you have CIRS, but you aren’t able to afford the treatments, eating a carnivore diet while also getting extra sun exposure and eating omega 3s (seafood!) does help some people to feel relief from symptoms. Removing yourself from an environment with mold and avoiding excess environmental and dietary toxins is never a bad idea, but I know it’s not always an easy fix. And if none of that gets your symptoms to go away, PLEASE know that there are ways to make the Shoemaker protocol more doable. When I was eating mostly vegetables, seeds and nuts, and fruit, and only having salmon 2X a week and grass-fed beef twice a week... I was in the hospital for a Lupus flare up, the cardiologist came in and said "You just need to get those animal meats out of your diet. They're putting so much stress on your heart!" I was just like 😮 Now that I've been following the EXACT OPPOSITE ADVICE (eating only meat) for about 7 months, my heart is so much stronger and I haven't had any emergency room visits in months!! My cardiologist is a great doctor and we always talk about diet and exercise during my office visits. He has watched me experience dramatic improvements in my health over the last 4 years, first with keto, and now carnivore. Last visit, he told me that HE had recently had a heart attack. He had no idea that two of his arteries were obstructed. He's about 20 or 25 years younger than me. I've never had a heart attack. I'll keep on counseling him and hope he makes the changes he needs. Ive been [95%] carnivore for years. My daughter 42 suffers from depression probably due to long term mold exposure. To make a long story short. I’ve been telling her for the past couple years to eat [nothing] but high fat red meat. Several months ago she had a Grand mal seizure . The neurologist she saw in the hospital told her to eat a high fat high protein diet. There is nothing better than to have your daughter tell you “daddy you were right” she’s doing way better.

From there I dedicated my life to the study of food, even going so far as being vegetarian but raw so I didnt heat destroy vital energy, so a live food diet. I've done it all, and been carnivore ore for 10 months now, it's the easiest and most feel good with quick results. Don't take it. Stupid doctor. I saw such stories more often. They have zero clue about the truth of cholesterol. Statins do not work on small density LDL and that is the one involved in plaque. High LDL isn't an issue if it's mostly high density LDL(large particles). Also ratio triglycerides and HDL should be, according to the carnivore docs, 1:1 or 1:2. That is a healthy ratio. Dr Ovadia did a great video on cholesterol with I think butter gal.

I was very impressed by the 22 year study that showed folks with lower LDL do not live as long as people with what is perceived as a high LDL score. My trigs were 55 and my HDL was 60 so I frankly believe that LDL is, in cases like mine, basically irrelevant. I've been alternating between ketovore and carnivore for about five years now and at almost 68 years old, I literally take one medication, Synthroid for my hypothyroidism. I can lift those unwieldy 50# feed bags out of the car to carry to the barn for my chickens. We buy one grass fed cow locally each year and that, with our own eggs, is the bulk of our diet. I have lost at least three sizes in my clothing over the past 10 years, from a high of 198 before my thyroid malfunction was discovered (could have been higher at a time when I was avoiding the scale), down to now an easily maintained 135-139 range. I am 5'4" tall, used to be 5'5" but osteopenia and osteoporosis caused height loss. Carnivore is where I've been the most successful at regulating weight and keeping/building muscle tone. Lost 100 pounds two years ago by eating keto/carnivore. Had a CAC scan last year and as a 71 year old male it was 25. It's not zero but 25 is still pretty good for my age. So don't freak out if it's not 0.

I started the carnivore diet a couple months ago. I was 225. Today I am 180! I feel great, full of energy, moving better and no pain. I eat ONLY red meat, nothing else! All of my friends, family and doctors notice and comment on my changes, and several have begun following my lead and reporting positive results. Prior to starting the diet I had blood work done and was high on Hematocrit, low on MCHC and a tad high on Cholesterol. I had another blood work done just last week and EVERYTHING is in NORMAL range. My sister started on it a couple weeks after I did and she has lost 30lbs.

I respect this Dr greatly for speaking out against the statin brainwashed norm. I had a CAC test done in 2017/2018 and came back at a 40. I had previously had every cardiac test done. Catheterization, EKG, ECG, nuclear, carotid Doppler, treadmill stress etc. I was 7yrs into my fitness journey at that point. Took a little relapse during covid but back in 2017 had started a good quality K2/D3 supplement. Had another CAC at the same medical facility last year the went from the old 40 to a 28. People can say what they want about K2, but I’ll take it. Now I’m a “lazy” carnivore, and have dropped 10lbs in 6 weeks. Getting back into. 5/10k’s, and weight training. Currently 51. Did a lot of damage for 20+ years with bad foods. Prior smoker as well but haven’t since 2012.

Here is something I discovered is Arteriosclerosis Plaque build up is always on the arteries. As blood moves around the body it leaves the heart and is rich in cholesterol and HDL (Good) as the cells are full as they travel around the system and deposit the cholesterol the cells get smaller and when almost empty become LDL (Bad)... But here is the thing. Blood returns via the Veins so two observations. The plaque build up is always in the Arteries never the Veins. And blood tests are always taken from the Veins which is by nature higher in LDL. The arteries are the High pressure side of your circulatory system and are more prone to stress and damage so it makes sense that all the damage and repair via plaque takes place. So that begs the question why no plaque buildup on the veins which carry the LDL back to be refilled. LDL are like fire fighters. And if you seen a forest fire and firefighter arriving to put it out would you conclude that every time you see a forest fire and fire fighters that the firefighters caused the fire? Because every time you see a fire they are present. Is Veinialsclerosis even an issue?

Haven't you answered your own question? Cholesterol particles don't *cause* plaque buildups, but provide the substrate by penetrating blood vessel walls, so when damage occurs they are affected by the immune response. The higher pressures in the arteries mean that damage is more likely there and less likely in veins. I believe that damaged vein walls can also develop plaques. While I obviously am no expert, I don't think it's the carnivore diet as such that is protecting anyone from CVD, but rather a range of other factors that help mediate inflammatory responses. Surely if one has high levels of LDL (or ApoB) then the risk of particles lodging in artery walls increases.

Because the lipid core volume is modifiable, but not necessarily the fibrotic and calcified cap, short of any invasive procedure, there are no known preventive measures (both lifestyle and medical) that can decrease your coronary artery calcium score. It isn't instant and it isn't everyone. Some report their CAC continues to rise though slower compared to SAD. I really would like a proper study as there are enough varied reports to beg the question of what the variable is. Is it still diet, just undeclared by the poster? Is it local such as air/water/food quality available? Is it hereditary as different ethnicities are more or less compatible with different fuel sources. I would love to know more.

So gradual is good, but the kind of gradual you did, losing just one pound per week, would not be ideal for on obese person, and certainly not a mortally obese person. For them, getting the weight off more quickly is the imperative, loose skin or not. For someone, say 100 pounds overweight, I'd say they'd want to lose it 2-3x as fast as you did. From other experts I've seen and read, cholesterol is one of the body's responses to damage - so it won't cling to your artery walls unless - THE ARTERIES ARE DAMAGED. So if you have those nice arteries, the cholesterol will just whisk by and head to a damaged area to help out there. If someone is still releasing oxalates, there will still be a few damaged areas until all the sharp oxalate particles are out of their system.

My husband's cardiologist had a heart attack right in the office. Now he's very thin, whereas previously he was "skinny fat." I'd love to ask him what he's eating, but I don't want to go there with him if he's a vegan or something.

Having been carnivore for almost 3yrs i asked my Dr to refer me for a CAC scan. She doesnt agree with them, thinks they're unnecessary. Then proceeded to say "they're expensive, cost is $1000, and the only place who does them is in Auckland." That's a 6hr drive for me and being a pensioner on a limited income is not financially feasible. All my blood test results are completely acceptable to her & yes she knows my eating regime. Just out of curiosity I'd still like the opportunity to have a CAC scan but it wont be for some time yet. Cheers from down under (NZ) 💙🌏💙

Something that might make you less concerned about not being able to have the test. If you *did* have it and found some plaque, what would you do about it? I understand that you are curious to know. I'm in a similar situation having high LDL but low trigs and high HDL (I am _not_ LMHR) and metabolically healthy, low carb since Oct 2021. I've had a CAC of zero (with contrast). After finding out more about statins, low carb etc I've decided that I'm just going to stick with what I am doing. I might get a follow up CAC done in a few years but the better I feel the less eager I am to have it done (it takes some effort to get it done, having to take tablets for 3 days prior to reduce the heart rate and then arrange for someone to drive me there and home). BTW have you seen this on PubMed: *Statin therapy is not warranted for a person with high LDL-cholesterol on a low-carbohydrate diet* Wishing you all the best.

Low carb isn't a get out jail free card in regard to heart disease, folks. I've been low carbing for over 2 decades (since Gary Taube's big article in the NY Times). Had a CAC and then a CTA done recently and it was not good news. Long story short, scored about 500 something, with blockages in various heart arteries. Its not causing symptoms yet and I passed a stress test, for whatever that's worth. I have no clue what the cause is, could possibly be alcohol (quit that 3 years ago), could be stress, or some other damn thing, who knows. Since I apparently have active heart disease, I finally relented and went on a low dose statin (I've been fighting docs off on this for decades, lol), and also a PCSK9 inhibitor.

Why would you not talk about the brain, what it's made of fat and cholesterol, cholesterol is needed that's why so many people have dementia and alzhiemers . When you cut off the fat and cholesterol you starve the brain of it's make up Thanks for your sharing your success with carnivore

I was carnivore for one year, then keto ore since March. I now have elevated triglycerides and total cholesterol with an 80% block on my right carotid artery and will have to go through a Carotid Endarterectomy. Am still maintaining a ketovore diet, but am confused on what diet to do in the future. Oh, I’m also having a heart catheterization procedure to rule out plaque in my heart prior to the surgery. By the way, I not only had the carotid echogram, but CT scans both with and without dye which confirmed the big block.

Am I right in thinking that zero calcified plaque does not mean zero plaque? If you have soft plaque (the dangerous type of plaque) it will not show up on a CAC scan? Calcified plaque is stablized plaque and soft plaque is not stable and at risk of rupturing? So, if I reversed a CAC score I would be worried I had just destabilised that plaque rather than actually got rid of the plaque. Please can you clarify.

I feel stronger and healthier then I have in years and I am developing a natural immunity again as well as lots of muscle mass at the very young age of 62.

One problem with the CAC score (from what I understand) is that it doesn't show soft plaque, which is far more volatile than calcified plaque.

I can eat almost no plant foods because of fiber. My cheat is a little peanut butter. That's all I can do, I might have a 1/4 teaspoon every other week. Everything else is meat. I'm 53 and my last CAC was 0, I had been on keto for years prior to that. I had been walking a lot in the past but now with Ménière's disease, it is a lot of force of will to maintain my balance. I do wall pushups and calf raises but anything with a lot of motion that isn't braced could be a tumble waiting to happen. 😔

So sad.....it is the "everyone knows meat is bad" that Dr.s & medical community often think they learned that from authorities! My Mom was working as an ER RN when the low fat women's study started and 90% of the ER women did low fat w/o finding out how the study went! In fact, my Mom NEVER found out it was a disaster, neither did the other women in the ER. They all assumed "it must be the best thing to go low fat, if they are studying it!" The ER also passed around the lie that Dr. Atkins died of a heart attack. These were fabulous smart Dr.s and RN's...they were the best ER in the whole area....but they had nutrition totally wrong!

Hi there beautiful souls. When I first heard of Carnivore and listened to all these podcasts I tried it for 4 months. Nothing happened visibly, not one pound, and I had 22 to drop. Fatty Liver issues for min 15 years, maybe my whole life. The carnivore did help my liver. I learned about Prolonged Fasting and the day I did my 1st 36 hour fast 12 pounds melted right off and hasn't come back. I started Rebounding 10 minutes to 45 minutes 5 days/week, and I was lifting weights. Rebounding flushes the entire Lymph System, nothing strips fat and builds muscle faster than rebounding and cold water 2-3 min. So now that I am at a weight I love and my body looks SOOO much better, I am going to be adding in more red meat. If you stick to it and are consistent you will see results. Since you can not see under the skin, you have to study what subtle signs the body gives you when your organs and blood are not healthy. You need to learn about gastrointestinal and what poop means, color, shape, smell. The gut is the second brain, and the microbiome in your gut must be healthy. You need to eat the right foods for you that turn off the bad microbiome and turn on the good microbiome! I've also learned that brain health is the root cause of the symptoms in the body. If the brain has untreated trauma,, 20 plus years later, You will be experiencing a lot of health issues in your body, from joints, to sleep to, you name it. Stop eating processed foods and sugar. Get your brain checked, any trauma from your life like sports, car accidents, birth, whatever is the root cause. Also, get a good chiropractor who aligns your spine! If you are in Colorado there is a place called Life Springs Family Chiro that treats the brain too. GAME CHANGER! If you have symptoms like cramps when your body is trying to balance its metabolic health when you end the inflammatory lifestyle, that means your brain needs the Neurofeedback I am talking about. The brain grows first and then the spine and entire Nervous system. Don't overlook your brain health! The standard American diet put so much stress on the body, and the organ that takes the brunt of it is your brain.
