Hello all! Its Toby. Thanks for the awesome video Jeff and tomorrow I finally get my hands on it the 580. Before I get butchered over the H1. I have flown drones and quads for the last several years just so I could learn to fly helis. I started with the FW450l V3 and that thing helped me learn quick. So then I bought a Goosky S2 so that I could also learn the right way. Well I had the money to blow so I wanted a bigger Heli. Jeff has made that build come to life. I am now planning on a S4 build just so I can sacrifice parts at a much cheaper price. I have also switched to a Spektrum N8 so the Flysky stuff is going away. I get that it can be a little of a crutch on the H1, but if it gets people flying helis then so be it. Oh. And if you ain't crashing you ain't flying! Good save Jeff! Could have been much worse and thanks for everything! Now bash away. Lol

No need to explain yourself, Toby! Everybody has their reason for everything they do, and not everybody has to agree with everything you or I do. If the H one can help get your confidence, bigger and better than do it! I am all for anything and everything that helps spread the helicopter, hobby, and get people into flying. You know as I’ve said it before I’m not a fan of the GPS stuff but! That doesn’t mean I will knock or down anybody that wants to use it. And since I have gotten quite a few questions about it, I was excited to do the Build for you, so I can better understand how it flew how it works and give better advice on it. I was actually thoroughly surprised at the flite performance, and how it flew more like an actual helicopter gonna drone like I was expecting. Can’t wait to build the RAW 420!

I think some of the main criticisms of the H1 tend to be unfair. Not EVERYONE flies hard acrobatic mode and is their life blood. Many folks want to get into Helis but the cost learning curve is just to high. Lets face it, HELIE'S can be very hard to fly without crashing. Many like to fly their SCALE Helis just as that, SCALE. Looks pretty ridiculous flying a SCALE Heli in ACRO mode. I fully enjoy flying HELIS with an H1 and SCALE. I truly believe that the H1 and others like it will bring in so many people, which is good for us all. The technologies this will bring will be amazing. Can't wait!

I've watched pretty much all your videos but not one have I seen you so intrigued in a heli that you forgot flight time. 😉 I can see this being helpful for those new at speed flights and really big sky flying where you may loose orientation at a distance and adds an extra layer of recovery.

I too have two of these H1 systems. One was mounted on a Align Trex 500 FBL and the other on a new OMP M4 Max. They both work great but you have to be careful and not accidentally hit the throttle kill button! I programmed my Futaba T18SZH for a logic of two switches to be engaged before this will happen so I would have no more issues! I have a video of me inverted low to the ground in GPS mode and putting my transmitter down on the grass (I don't recommend doing this), and my Trex 500 was just sitting there - a beautiful sight! It's too bad Spirit Systems with their Spirit 2 FBL unit with Geolink 2 doesn't work this well:( The Geolink 2 drifts all over the place when making a 90 degree nose change. I wish the programmer would take some time to check what is going on but he tells me it's my setup!!! NO IT IS NOT - ITS HIS CODE. How about you guys testing the Geolink 2 GPS unit with a Spirit 3 next:)???
@Martin2168

Yes the spirit GT is bad with the GPS mode, when you fly on GPS, when you don't touch the sticks anymore after you go to the left or what direction, it flies 2 or 4 sec away and then stabilize in de GPS. Very bad !!!!

I think the H1 has a place in the hobby. Imagine learning on a sim, going to a normal 3d capable helicopter and as you're learning you stuff up a few mistakes high and flick the switch to GPS. It goes back into a stable hover awaiting your next input. Panic button if you will. Then again GPS might drop out so you better know how to fly in 3D mode lol. Great test!!

Thanks for this video!! I have had this same FlyWing H1 controller for a couple of years now, but have never installed it. I got me one of those Flywing FW450L V3 heli's with about the same system and transmitter. However I did learn most of my stuff on a Walkera V450, so I'm not so dependent on a GPS. Still, It is kind of fun not having to be so concentrated on keeping the thing up.

I like FW. Sure the quality and fit and finish is not of the same caliber as my OMP M2 EVO (or say a Kyosho or Hirobo from back in the day) but still fun. I have a green FW450 V3, but I never use the GPS...not really interested in that. I like the way the machine looks and using the FW 1.9 software, I tuned everything to my liking in the manual 3D mode. I like sport and precision hovering like F3C. It is a pain to fly in manual mode with a spring that brings your throttle back to center. My first helis were a Raptor 60 V2 and 90 SE and while its marketed for beginners, the FW450 is not a beginners machine. No way.

I still like my iKon FBL Way better. I’ve actually got a raptor 50 in a scale AS355 fuselage hanging from the ceiling right now one day I will get it flying again. The spring throttle in the transmitter is extremely difficult and weird to get used to!

@@westhobbiesrc8051 I would certainly give them a try. I can tell you this; on 6S with aggressive adjustments using the FW 1.9 software the FW450 V3 can get pretty rowdy…and its definitely an underdog. Sure it lacks the sexiness of OMP, Goosky or these other brands that these guys love, but it’s still fun for the flying that I enjoy doing. They have a V4 I believe in the works, maybe something to consider in the future for your channel.

Hey Larry! I hope all is well with you! Everybody is doing good now. I agree that if you have no experience, you should not be doing a helicopter like this. The owner of the helicopter does have a copter experience as well as flying experience he just wanted to mess around with a GPS system, as he is very big into quads and drones. I think it has its time in place. I don’t think it’s for everybody but I do like that in 3-D mode. You have full control of the model and in GPS mode. You still have full control of the model, and it flies more like a helicopter than I was expecting it to fly.

As you know, for sure, Raw 580 and Kraken 580 have the same mechanical architecture and parts. I have a full Kraken 580 set- kit, x-nova 4025 1120 kv, HW 150A, 3x kst 915, kst 905, a kit for standard servos. And I'm thinking- to sell it or to assembly it... I'm very like Raw 580 as you.

Yes, I love the RAW 580 on both 6s and 12s. Incredible Heli! The mechanics are identical. The only difference is the body between the raw and kraken. I have a doubt. on page 7 of the manual of the sab goblin raw 580 Socket screw M2x6mm (HC004-S) in theory it should thread in the servo arm but my servo arm it has a hole of 2.5mm. The screw has a diameter of 2mm. Then the servo arm hole becomes passerby. and I want to understand if I can fly in this mode. I used green threadlocker to lock screw and uniball (the uniball code in the manual is: Uniball M2(H0064-S) ). Plus I may add hot glue on the screw and the loctite attack on the uniball. I've been clear? can i fly in this mode?
@westhobbiesrc8051
@westhobbiesrc8051 Жыл бұрын
Yes, your screw is a 2.5 mm and the servo arm hole is 2 mm the reasoning for that is because there is a wide variety of screws that get used from different models so the horns are a generic 2 mm you can drill the horn out if you want to, but I personally do not. It does not affect or damage the horn in any way, with the screw, being bigger, cuts the thread into the plastic, giving the screw a very tight bond, and allowing it not to just fall through. you use retaining compound to secure the bolt and to the screw
@francescolocorriere
@francescolocorriere Жыл бұрын
@@westhobbiesrc8051 really is the opposite. The screw is 2mm and the servo arm hole is 2,5mm. The servo arm it is aluminum (those models which also have a second screw to tighten better). Usually the screw is threaded in the servo arm. In this case on the contrary it is not threaded in the servo arm. so i have some doubts. But I think what a threadlocker and extra I add some glue to prevent it from slipping the screw and uniball I shouldn't have any problems. I could also remove the servo arm in aluminium and mount the servo arm in plastic PS UPDATE I measured with the caliper screw diameter 1,97mm and hole servo arm 1,97mm while uniball has hole 1,57mm. but even if the screw does not thread when you tighten the uniball, the uniball has a wide base which beats on the servo arm Therefore the screw does not play when it tightens. for threading needed a hole servo arm 1,5mm

For a few reasons some that I can’t legally say, but a lot of AMA sanctioned flying fuels are exempt from the remote ID so they don’t have to worry about it. That is the main reason I don’t do any videos talking about it for a few reasons. This is all we need, Noobs thinking to get going in the hobby with lets say a 500,600 700 size hei because they can just "GPS" it around while they learn. Bad, bad, bad, in my opinion. This is the perfect setup just begging for a serious accident!( with the single flip of a switch) Sorry for the less than upbeat feedback this time. Yes, anybody could technically fly it, but it is not as easy as I was expecting it to be. But I do agree it could do a lot of bad. It could do a lot of damage to someone or some thing as if somebody has zero idea on what they are doing to build a model of this size or larger and rely on GPS alone is scary and dangerous.
