Mic drop! Bar none, this has been 'my song' since my days in high school when it came out. Kinda my own personal anthem. I played in a garage band back then, two school talent shows to my credit, then off to reality...college, a real job, building a family, and playing guitar fell by the wayside. A hiatus for almost 35 years. Fast forward, and we're having a 80's reunion back in 2018. Two years prior, I'm dusting off my guitar, and reaching out to old friends I haven't in 35 years, and we assemble a band to play at the reunion. I'm rusty as can be. We all live hours and hours away from each other. Time isn't on our side, but my drive to make this happen is. KZbin helps in so many ways. That's how I came across your channel. I had no idea you were the talent behind the guitar on that song, until today. It all makes sense, though. You've been one of my favorite 'teachers' since I discovered your channel, because it's so easy to connect with both your passion and your sense of melody, and the historic songs that have been a fabric of my life for decades. My proudest moment that will live forever with me from that night playing the reunion was our cover of "Change". I can't say "thank you" enough for all you do for so many of us...but for me, this is the mountaintop, so it won't stop me from trying So, thank you, Tim!

Probably have said this before but got to know all about you back in the early 80s when I was 12 and a huge Rick Springfield fan. Was taking guitar lessons (6th grade) so as much as I loved the tunes on Working Class Dog and Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet, I saw you playing lead on the tours. Have followed you ever since which certainly has become easier with KZbin, internet, etc. Became a John Waite fan off of the video on MTV for Change. John's next album blew up but I still have Ignition on vinyl. Amazing to now realize you played guitar on that album. I am a proud member of your master class as well. Being 50 now, I am fortunate enough to have more guitars and amps than I will ever need and have played in the same cover band for the last 20 years (but we still look good). Looking at a Kahayan on reverb to link all my stuff together. You should get the commission. Thank you for all you do. This video made my day especially during these challenging times.

Since I first heard this song at 15, I always loved the intro and the solo, even listening to it over and over just to hear all the little movements and gentle bends and beautifully choice notes and composition. It figures you did that one. Absolutely brilliant song in all ...
@mitsanut58694 жыл бұрын
I do like the song. But it was an era that accentuated too much sound polishing and going way over the top with overproduced sound overall. But then again, or had to be tried I still to this day like the Deep Purple era sound (Fireball, In Rock, Machine Head) the best. Some other great but not as famous bands were using similar sound colors that. Jericho, Blackfoot.....best rock band that never got famous. On Marauder, the sound they produced is second to none. Brutal but still very clean, and they used its dynamics to the extremely great record that sadly didn't get its well deserved recognition. Polish records always are in just one volume level, the entire spectrum of sound is cut off at top and bottom and what you have left is a track that is very good but that could be even much better. Rock is about energy. And in this particular song, the energy level should be much bigger, stronger, higher, you name it. Yeah. 80's. Not missing them too much....

So now I'm going through all the old Rick Springfield concert videos on youtube and see you playing a white Strat and wearing a derby in almost every video. Sir, that solo change a lot of our lives! And all those fiery solos you played on Rick's records? That entire Living In Oz album? I go back to your Hendrix-y chordal playing on "Me & Johnny," again and again. I really loved hearing that you used Neil's B.C. Rich to play that brilliant solo. All that early work of your's was being released during my most formative years as a player and music fan.
