I saw John Waite in concert last night. I didn't expect too much...but was totally blown away. He sounded great, looked in shape at 71, had great stage presence, was funny, and deeply reflective at times. If you get a chance to see him---you absolutely must! He also did a fantastic version of "Whole Lotta Love"...but this song seems to embody how he is as a person. Very cool!

Nice to hear that... some of these performers/artists are preternatural. I saw Stevie Nicks live this June and she's also in her 70's and her voice sounded as strong as it did at 25. It's defies explanation! She's still a marvelous, brilliant performer. The experience was transcendental. I'm an 80's baby and there were lots of people even younger than I there! The 70's and 80's were a blessed time for music.

I wish someone would build a time machine & take me back to the 80s & LEAVE ME THERE FOREVER... 1982...I was 13 yrs old & in 7th grade. I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE GREATEST SONG EVER!!! I can remember watching MTV (when MTV actually played music videos), just hear this song & watch the music video. In the summer of 1982 I saved my money from grass cutting & bought my first Sony Walkman and this cassette, I think I paid around $30.00 for both...I WAS SO HAPPY & PROUD OF MYSELF!!! I remember getting my Walkman & riding my bike all over my neighborhood. GREAT GREAT SONG...EVEN BETTER MEMORIES!!! Much love from Mobile Alabama

I remember. 51 years old. I remember the Greatness of MTV. People talk about what MTV has become. The thing is it was a product of its time. It could have never continued on just showing videos. It was lightning in a bottle. And then there were all the clones. Friday Night Videos, Night Flight, and others. Trying to explain to someone today who was born in the last 20 or 25 years what MTV was and what it meant to us is impossible. I’m just glad I was around to enjoy it. The 80’s was a great time to be a kid/teenager. It’s like trying to explain Saturday Morning Cartoons or Waiting for New Shows to premiere in the Fall. It was Magic and I miss it so much sometimes it hurts. It was really fun. I watched MTV for hours. Couldn’t wait for a “Premiere Video” or to see my favorites. Good Times.

I watched John's biopic documentary " the Hard Way" ,which chronicals his entire career I gotta say I was impressed with the film But I was really inspired by Johns perspective and sorta anti-hero- approach to Hollywood ,art, and life, itself and i think John is one of the greatest and most unique voices of the 80s and I wish him the best

At 63, I feel blessed to have been a kid in 60's, teenager in the 70's, and young adult in the 80's, and 30's in the 90's. But, I have special spot in my heart for the 80's. We really did have it all; music, clothes, movies. I liked how in the 80's, men were wearing all kinds of colors. When we went out, we embodied ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man".

My ❤ heart breaks for the 👧 girl in this video. You can see how the pursuit of wealth, fame, and fortune has destroyed her soul and left her empty inside, to the point of being suicidal. How easily and quickly we can lose perspective about what matters most in life. I appreciate the strong moral message in this song and John and Patty knock it out of the park with their vocal performances. An underrated classic and a true hidden 💎 gem! This song should of been a massive hit!

shawn I was overwhelmed by the quality of this song first time I heard it .....about 82 ...I watched MTV constantly back then (it was ALWAYS on in the background) and I waited to hear this song ....unfortunately, mtv did not push it and it was lost after a few weeks of occasional play ......never will why it was NOT a bigger hit

This brings back memories of being the last of a LOT of kids and subsequently the last child remaining living at my parent's house, and finally getting cable TV in my town with this video reminding me of being so young, naive (I had no idea what the lines on the mirror were back then), and mesmerized by the new channel called MTV when this came out in 1982 when I was still a prepubescent. Nostalgia!
