I think we all know that he has documented proof that the HOA asked him to do this. Him claiming he is doing it without permission is just simply something he's doing to get more video viewing time from viewers. He's not a dumbass. So he most certainly has obtained permission and/or was specifically requested to do this by the HOA and has supporting documents.

Everything I stated in the video is true. I didn't have permission or communication from the HOA. I can't prove a negative, however, so if you still choose to not believe me I can't offer up anything to change that.

So what other property owners are you talking about? I used to think similarly, but my current HOA is pretty awesome. They negotiated a very good bulk discount for high tier cable + internet package thanks to strong negotiating power of hundreds of homes. They also pay for lawn care (mowing, weedeating, etc., also at bulk discount rates) to keep the neighborhood looking nice instead of enforcing standards by harassing/fining people. They do other good things as well (maintaining common areas, community pool + playground etc.) and at the end of the day my total HOA fee which covers all of the above is about what I'd pay for internet + cable if I didn't have a great bulk discount, so all the benefits are practically free. If the community actually elects decent people, there's a lot of benefits to operating as a group instead of individuals.
@Culvey
@Culvey 2 жыл бұрын
@@stevenjackson121 the problem is, at any moment, that HOA could elect a couple people who seem like good people and then turn into monsters. We have one in our area that has had the same president for 30 years... was a great guy and refused to raise HOA dues more than a small amount every few years (like in his 30 years dues only went up a total of $50 a year). He was all about "we have a budget, its our job to make it work not to make it difficult for people to live here." He got to around 85 years old and couldnt handle the job any more.... then his replacement came in and the first 2 years seemed fine until they rasied HOA dues by $100 a year right after their re-election (they do it every 2 years), 3rd year they raised it another $100 a year and everyone is getting fines and fees left and right.

I did something similar where I work. There was a big bushy tree right near the road that blocked your view when pulling out onto the road on a blind corner. The reality is we need HOA's because no one has pride of home ownership anymore...grass that's two months overgrown, houses that are green from mold growth all over them, vehicles parked out in the street, huge sheds built in the backyard that completely block sunlight of the neighbor's yard, etc. HOA's are the necessary evil that we deal with to prevent people bringing down property value and quality of life for neighboring homes.

Lots of negative people seem to FULL STOP once they find out I don't have permission to do a job. They don't care no one is hurt by it, they don't care no one who lives there would likely care, and they don't care that the net good vastly outweighs the technicality of trespassing. They just can't get over that one fact (maybe their own personal property being trespassed is a sore spot for them that affects their judgement).

Technically what he's doing is illegal, as he's destroying the HOA's property wthout permission. Practically, possibly ethically, he's doing them a service. It's like how dumpster diving is still stealing, legally speaking. Nobody is hurt by it if you clean up your mess afterwards, but the law says you can't. These are both good examples of how the law is flexible and nobody in their right mind should ever say agree on something just because the law says so. Even a judge would use common sense over the law, because often times laws are disagreed with in court and then eventually adjusted.

Thank you Brad, you did the right thing. The people who have issues with this are often found' on City Boards or attend the meetings and gum up the process with self righteous indignation and finger pointing. They tend to be retentive about 'the law' and this often explains their "attitude". My only concern is, as you rightly pointed out the electrical switch box, that there might be other utilities like Gas mains or water mains around and cutting through any of these could land you in a world of hurt. Well done mate! If it saves one driver from having a serious pile-up, your good deed will have 'earned' its keep.

Judging by defense line, I'm going to assume that that brush is actually in the right of way. So technically it's not the HOA's responsibility. However, it should have been the developer's responsibility and the city should have called them out on it if they were doing their job. But since it was left there, it's now the city's responsibility since it's in the right of way. The brush could have stayed, but it would have to be maintained. The brush cannot be higher than a certain height (Iike 3 feet) so that it won't block the view within that visibility triangle.

The other way is a wall where you couldnt see roof of approaching cars unless you're in a high vehicle. We turn off the radio and indicators and wind the winsow on the wall side so as to listen if it's safe.. You have to see one side is clear and you have to hear the other one is. Bought a house in a different state in May of 2020. The realtor kept taking us to other houses then the list my wife and I wanted to look at. All of her picks were hoa’s, while ours weren’t. We finally told her if she couldn’t show us the homes we wanted to look at, we’d find another realtor. Coming from California, we wouldn’t have any trouble finding another realtor that same day. The first house on our list ended up being the one we bought. After speaking with our new neighbors (all super nice folks), they mentioned they disbanded the HOA committee after 15 years. The owners told the board that they were all adults and didn’t need a committee telling them how to maintain a yard and exterior home paint. The hoa was disbanded 25 years ago and there isn’t one home in the area that looks run down. Meanwhile some friends who moved here before us are paying $150 a month in hoa fees, have a smaller lot, and don’t have any say on where they can park or how many people they can have over (no more than two extra vehicles per home in 24 hours).

Love the work you do. IMHO HOAs are an abomination. Nothing good about them. Like you said, they're basically a mini government. But it's the type of government they are that bothers me. They're closer to a tyranny than a democracy. People have very little recourse, if any, if they're in disagreement with their HOA. Even though it's THEIR home that THEY are paying for. And if your community decides to form an HOA, you can't opt out. You're in it whether you wanted it or not. I'm truly baffled as to how something like that could even be legal in the United States of America. No free citizen should be forced into an HOA against their will. There are people who have literally lost their homes and been left with nothing because they didn't knuckle under to these tyrants. That being said, the majority of the people that you're helping here in this video are victims of the HOA rather than perpetrators. It's a beautiful thing that you did out of the kindness of your heart to make things safer for people and their kids. I really enjoy your videos.

I've lived in neighborhoods with HOA and without...the rules are basic...keep your yard mowed, gardens weeded, trash picked up and don't let your house fall into disrepair...all things that help maintain the property values...and you elect your own board members....so if you don't like the way they are running it...vote them out...nothing complicated about it..."Abomination"??? thats funny.

@@markanderson4163 lolol you must be on the board of an HOA. When someone brings out a ruler to measure your grass and has the power to start a chain of events in which you could lose your home, and you have NO way to opt out, that is Russia, not America. And yes, those things HAVE happened. In those cases it didn't matter that they didn't like the board members. The HOA was made up mostly of their buddies. So nobody was gonna vote them out because they had it in for one person they didn't care about. So I'll say it again. HOAs are an abomination.

Nice work! It would have been nice if the brush truck at 11:57 would have stopped and grabbed some of that.

So, Brad, how do you like the Ventrac? Seems you are having a ton of fun discovering its abilities and deficits. Does it replace your regular mower for residential jobs? Appreciate your "Safety First" attitude.

I feel bad for you. You're doing the right thing and the only thing that can be done, but I bet almost all the HOA residents will roast you over this.

What wrong with pulling up to the road to see traffic ? That’s how it’s done in all other countries. Putting the stop line way back is needless

I use a Walker T23 as my daily driver, but as beautiful a cut as the Walker provides (they're extremely agile), there's some situations where a Ventrac would be nice.
