I am not homeless nor have I ever been. But I really agree with this woman... ANYONE CAN LOSE THEIR JOB AND BECOME HOMELESS!!! And, the economy is a lot worse than many people think. I would not at all be surprised if in 2018, it won't begin to look like 2008. However, this time we are way too deep in debt to be bailed out. We owe $20.6 trillion as opposed to the last time where I believe we were under $10 trillion.

I wish the same things that she does. Greed is out of control, making it harder and harder to survive. I think the frustration of working hard but not getting anywhere contributes a lot to the harsh attitudes people have now. But if we realize we are all in the same boat and are striving for the same things in life then maybe our hearts would soften a little. Side note: Mark, I didn’t know you are grumpy 😁 LOL

I'm Disabled, a Veteran, and have been homeless for two years. I'm not a drug addict, just lost my housing two years ago when the apartment complex I was living at in Mesa Arizona was sold to a buyer in Toronto, who promptly notified the tenants living with Section 8 or VASH assistance they had the option to move out or pay full market value rent without assistance. I found while looking for a place to move to, that most low income housing in my area was eliminated in this same fashion by greedy investors and was unavailable to find another place to live. I bought an old van on payments and was forced to start living in it. I did so for a year and was offered a tiny fiberglass trailer on payments. I found that the person I bought it from had mislead me on a clear title, and have had difficulty getting it registered and legal to tow. I have been stranded at a Recreation Area, above Kingman Arizona for seven months now trying to get repairs done to my van. It is no longer safe to drive, and definitely not suitable to tow my trailer. It has been a living hell, upto 128 degrees at times this summer, now dealing with freezing cold at night and heavy winds. Every time I try to get some repairs made, something comes up. I bought a used generator which failed in a couple weeks, had to buy another one, then my emotional support dog Archie was badly bitten and required veterinary care, my air conditioning compressor failed in my Van, I cut my knuckle to the bone and ligaments on some glass discarding some trash which resulted in an Emergency Room Visit. I have been trying to get help, and have not had much success. I was accepted for PATH Rapid Rehousing through the Catholic Charities, but have searched all over Mohave County but found I cannot afford an apartment on my disability income. I have been looking for a room for rent, but no luck. So now I'm in a panic as I was notified by the Catholic Charities Caseworker handling my information, had their computer stolen and now my personal information has been compromised. I am on a waiting list for Section 8, basically started over. I did not choose to be in this homeless situation, and have been doing my best to deal with everything I have experienced the past 2 years. I had to literally give everything I owned away when I lost my apartment EVERYTHING!, I did try and keep my many tools, but those to were lost to a "friend" who was going but keep them until I get settled, but would never respond to my calls or texts. I am absolutely sick of my life. I don't live anymore, I merely exist, and it's not much of an existence at that. I have not showered in nearly 8 months, and haven't bathed in over two years since losing my apartment. My teeth are broken, many missing, and I broke another one recently, not looking forward to the toothache that's coming. I am nearly blind in one eye and can only see clearly with glasses, but I lost one of the lenses. I have reached out to every VA organization or service center I know of for help, but am ineligible. I worked for the Air Force starting my senior year of high school, as a civilian employee and for the next decade. I also simultaneously served 6 years in the Air National Guard, and was honorably discharged, but still don't meet the requirements as I was on active duty for well over a year with Avionics Technical School, and was activated during Desert Storm, but could not deploy with my unit, as I was a 3 level technician straight out of school. I have no family for support, no friends, only a few people I have met while being homeless. I have had a fellow vet brings some water bottles and food items several months back, and just today was given a propane tank, heavy sleeping bag, and nice winter coat by Catholic charities, these were definitely a blessing and will definitely help, but I don't see how I can ever get out of my situation as my limited income doesn't suffice to handle the many needs I currently have trying to get out of my homeless situation along with handling my major dental problems, lack now of a safe vehicle, and trailer registration. Any day the area I am staying may be closed, the BLM Rangers have told me they plan to close access to this Recreation Area soon. I will be in an Emergency Situation when they do, and have no idea yet what I will do.

I am thankful to say that I have never judged the homeless, and that each and everyone of us are loved by God! I just wish that people would open their hearts and their wallets in helping the homeless! Like so many Americans, I am on that slow downward spiral heading toward homelessness myself. It is very hard to live on SSDI, and this baby boomer generation is going to see a huge increase in the number of homeless...I am 60, and of course, in failing health... Housing costs are out of control. People say we are over populated but there are parts in this country where you can drive 10 hours and not see any population. There is plenty of land and we have the technology for solar and wind power. Look at Scotland. There should be no one homeless in America. It's greed. There is no cap on medical expenses. I mean really. Why does a power wheel chair cost 60,000 dollars? Because the is no law to cap off the cost. NO regulations. Same with housing. Plus the taxes on properties are to high. Same with doctors. Pharmaceutical companies. Hospitals. Etc. Greed. No regulation. Charge what thou wilt.

It is embarrassing and embarrasing that the world's greatest superpower treats its citizens in this way, in my country there are no homeless people, hospital and medical care are free, and everyone is entitled to a home, a place to live, we can not ourselves pay for it, bennefit from Guvement, so do our government, but we also pay everyone the highest taxes in the world, but it's worth all the money, because everyone is doing well in my country, so yes it's embarrassing to see the US treat its citizens so different. All other countries should make a model that we have in Denmark. Now we have also won the title as the world's most happy country and people in the world for 3 years in a row. why are USA so busy with the rights of others Contry's, and they must treat their citizens properly when you can see in us that there are so many homeless people across us and 20% can not afford to go to the doctor or come In a hospital, they spend so much money on weapons and wars around the world, and then they treat their own citizens so badly, it is above all criticism. i'm so happy that i'm born and live in Denmark.

Attitudes of indifference and intolerance are prevalent in our society as many judge others based upon their race,culture,religion,gender,sexual orientation,political and social standing,etc. If only people can come to realize that we are but spiritual being having a human experience.Our worth isn't based upon all the material or money we've accumulated in our lifetime as that when our time comes all of it stays behind.What matters is how we've treated other people with understanding and compassion.Despair can happen to anyone and helping those willing to help themselves speaks loudly of one's character if doing so.In the very end all that really matters is a desire to have loved and have been loved.

Everyone has a story to tell on why they are homeless. I'm here to tell you a story on why I am not homeless. I never worked at any one place for more than two years (mostly overseas), so I never bought a home. When I retired in the USA, I bought a home in cash and the only way I could lose my house is by not paying my property tax or house insurance. Since I am retired and collecting a pension and SS, I cannot lose my job. End of story.

I get so pissed off about how my state can rebuilt our capitol building for millions, not legalize mj to offset costs, some of the lowest taxes in the US, a multitude of homeless with no where to go..they'd rather arrest them on the grounds of trespassing, panhandling and whatever else. Mean while, congressmen and state, county, city employees that merely show up to work and do little to nothing have full benefits, high wages with COLAs every other year and a fuckton of paid holiday, vacation time and a nice retirement. My biggest complaint: my homeless friend get rousted by the useless cops about living under this bridge/overpass. Last year the guy got fined for panhandling on thanksgiving day no less. This year he's been harassed several times, threatened with incarceration and offered somewheres around $350+ for a bus ticket to anywhere that $three fiddy plus will take him out of this state. /rant off

I agree. There's enough vacant buildings and empty property available to house multitudes. Upshot: she isn't paying a huge chunk of money for a place that someone is trying to make a mint from for a 144 square foot room with a bathroom. Not even sure where that upshot really lies. I am glad to have the shithole I live in. I can't move right now and am feeling stuck. I could go homeless for a month or two to save for deposit, background check and utility deposit....it never seems to end. So much greed.... 2 Timothy 3 seems to be what we are currently experiencing.

We can now track the increase of homelessness to the increase in rent. We all make mistakes but the leading cause of homelessness is the lack of affordable housing.
@tyronesunde83146 жыл бұрын
That is not the fundamental reason. Rents can increase 20% in a year. Those people that have planned for adverse situations will probably not be homeless. I believe that if the people in your videos would have had a healthy fear of being homeless during the sunny days, they wouldn't be homeless. I like the question I proposed. I understand she had hard times but why is she not on SSI? She seems like she is the age to collect....I don't get it. Plus...if I thought tiny homes would work then go for it but with that said, do not allow bad behavior, drug use, alcohol, selling drugs, etc. Not to enforce rules and to allow a free for all will never work and it is set up for failure. And why would she stay in Washington other than Freeattle will give her everything without earning a damn thing and CA...hmmmm.....probably won't! I disagree....they can do something about it and if they moved out of Seattle, they can afford rent. Nobody has the right to live in a certain city. I live within my means...why can't they???

i would suggest everyone to invest in at least a small rv so you'd at least have a roof over your head and maybe find a friend that would let you park it while you try to get a new job. get solar panels too. you don't know when you can lose it all, especially with this economy
