Beautiful place in its' own way. I worked a lot of areas like that in western USA. Lot of different kinds of mining. Have to think that was a mine office, bunk house at one time or other. Better know where the water hole is if there is. Catch one of those Jeep Tours if you are fortunate. Lot more wildlife out there than a person would think. Serious crawlers maybe3 a wolf. A hungry one. All good from east Kentucky USA. Take care. Next time.

The dessert gets extremely cold at night, if you don’t have protection, you could freeze 🥶 to death. So the fact that he had a WARM place to stay the night and get out of the cold wind, could count as saving his life.

I understand your fears. I was in such a situation camping one night where I wished I had a place like that but didn't, yet I was okay, got through the night, but there were moments where I thought wolves or coyotes found me and were ready to attack but it was other game. When you're out in the wild, sounds that can seem to be nearby, are in fact not too closeby and not a danger. But there was a couple moments when I assume I got sniffed by coyotes, like they ran by my tent and could smell me, but they ran off. The scariest decision I made was to camp in a place infested with coyotes I mean hundreds of them were in that area on the hunt. This was about a decade before the big brush fire in that sector which probably did away with them.

I never understood why anyone would want to live in the desert, and who wears all black out there? I would be sweating my nuts off!😂😂😂 anyway, the desert does have a unique beauty, but only if your just visiting!😂

The desert gets very cold in winter. Days in 60’s, 70’s but nights it can get way below freezing. And the wind doesn’t help. A wind breaking enclosed space is a blessing
