🙂Questions?....... ..1 How big is your fresh water tank? ..2 How big is your Black tank? ..3 Have you invested in a Compost toilet? Us now, two adults in our mid 60's our fresh is 75 + 6 gallons (wh) Our gray is 2 x 35 gallons and one 35 black. Black was always a constant reminder and first to fill. 😫Pain, pain... ....after going to a OGO compost toilet saving 23 to 28 gallons of fresh it allowed us on our boondocking trip with no hookups, we went 18 days before needing to fill fresh water tank of 75 gallons. Instead of directing our urine to our black tank we're thinking.....of adding a 25 gallon container to the bed of our truck to empty our 2.4 gallon urine jug into. By doing this we can add a over flow pipe near top edges of gray and black to increase our bathroom gray from 35 to 70 gallons total and overall 105 gray total. This will allow us to go a full 14 days or more without needing to dump gray. You will need a shower nozzle that only uses 0.2 gal. Per minute though. This restricts showers to 3/4 - 1 gallon of use for a 5 minute shower or less if you pause between soaping up. .....just a little advice for what its worth.❤
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
fresh water is 75 gal, gray is 90 gal (they are 2 tanks plumbed together) and black is 45. We don't have a compost toilet and don't really want one at this time since we are able to go 2 weeks on our tanks without moving the RV to dump (we do have to top off the fresh water tank using our water bladder), but if we ever did get a smaller rig, we'd definitely have to rethink some things. We got a low gpm shower head off amazon and it does really help to save water!
@jeff67mustang Жыл бұрын
@@wildrvlife Okay, sounds like its working except for having to get the badder filled.......that was my whole point, with a composting toilet you could spend that time doing other things.🛠🤷♂️👍 .....anyway the wife and I throughly enjoy your video's so we will check out today's newly release. Heads up, Jeff PS, ...HOPE YOU BOTH ENJOY YOUR THANKSGIVING WITH YOUR FAMILY'S IN FLORIDA

Ram trucks are notorious for front tires wearing on the edges with the factory alignment specs. Lookup info on Thuren Fabrication specs for Ram trucks to fix the problem. Front outer wear fix, total toe .00-.05 degree or less, 4 degrees caster. Tires worn on outer edge-indicates toe in, tires worn on inner edge-indicates toe out. You have to go to a truck shop that will do a custom alignment, the big box shops can only set to what the computer tells them. Good luck!
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I was looking it up and noticed it seemed normal for them. Thanks for the info, I will have to try and find somewhere that can do a custom alignment like you said.

If you are running 295/65 r20, the mesure just over 35". If you are still running the 18" wheel in the spare, a 285/75 r18 will measure almost exactly, and I could not get one to fit in my 2021 Ram 2500 when i was at Discount this week. I am about to try a 295/70 r18, which is basically the exact height of a 35/11.5 r 18, just wider. Im running 295s and headed up north for the December holidays and would hate to be caught in weather without a proper spare and my RV hanging off the back. So im looking to make it fit. Seems if you either remove or "lovingly" mold the heat shield, it will fit. Trick is to get it up past the track bar, and then pivot the tire past the hitch. Or so they say online. We shall see.
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
That's what I saw online as well. But let me know if you get it to work. Having spare that's the same size would be nice, lol.

Tires and bearings, two of the most common failures of RV trailers and rigs. Two things that get checked every time I stop moving. While hauling, when I stop I do a quick walk around. I put my hands on every tire, truck and trailer. I also check the bearing hubs on the trailer, just a quick touch and you will know if a bearing is heating up. It should not be so hot you can't hold your finger on it. Twice when doing this I found something; one searing hot bearing, caused by an over-adjusted brake, and one very hot tire that had a slow leak and had heated up to the point of not being able to touch it. Both times I averted a potential side of the road repair. The bearing was fixed by re-adjusting the brakes and the tire was charged out before it blew out. I am a CDL driver and doing a pre and post-trip of your rig, every time you move or stop can save a lot of aggravation. It only takes a minute. As for the truck tires. They should have been replaced 2 months or more before they were. The rule of 2/32nds is BS even 4/32nd is not enough tread to prevent hydroplaning, especially with a heavy rig. Yes, tires are a big expense but a necessary one that should never be pushed to the limit. Be safe instead of frugal. I do enjoy your site and plan on being out there soon as I am retiring in a few months.

You’re not lying. We’ve been loyal customers of Discount Tire for about 15 years or so now. We have the insurance on our fifth wheel tires. They were only two seasons old and the rear driver tire failed and blew out just 5 miles outside of Butte Montana coming home from our family vacation to Yellowstone. (Still an 8 hr drive home) But the tire we had put on in Butte was immediately refunded once Discount tire got our correct replacement tire back on our trailer at home! I wasn’t happy having spent now $40+ for the new tire “certificate” as you guys call it, but compared to spending $200 on a new tire, it was still well worth it! We just had Cooper Discoverer AT3’s freshly installed on our 16’ Duramax for the Yellowstone trip and love them. They’re super quiet and handle great! How’s those nittos doing so far? Beautiful Brinkley fiver. I’ve read about them several months ago and am in love. When the Prices and interest rates calm down for everything we’d love to upgrade to that! Still haven’t seen a mid bunk floor plan for the kids yet, so I’m thinking we have plenty of time. Lol! Anyways, great work, I’m jealous. We’d love to be doing what you’re doing. The original size tires on my Ram 3500 SRW are 265 70R 17 but I agree, they look too small so I went one size larger 285 70R 17. They look better but now the speedometer is almost 3mph less than the actual speed so if you were 2 sizes larger, your speedometer might be 5 or 6 mph off. Fyi, one size larger still fits in the spare tire space.

Yeah we've found that at about 55-60mph, it's about 3 mph off too! good to know about the spare tire space

How are the new Recon Grappler tires treating you guys? Are they noisy? Safe travels!
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
They are a bit louder than what I had, but that was expected. I have been super impressed with them so far.
@josephscheneck1540 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Those tires look really nice. We have a similar Ram 3500 and need to replace our tires before we go full time with our 5er. Any noticeable difference in mileage? Just curious.
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
Not really. If there was any difference, it was only like 1 mpg different.

Discount Tire has my vote! My Dodge dually has custom wheels, and yet Discount Tire still rotates them for free. That means dismounting my tires just to rotate them.👍👍
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
yesss! the free tire rotation is a really nice perk!

Well, what happened to your spare tire. When I was a young guy. I did what you did, as long as you don’t need the spare tire, you got it going. But when you need it,you will be in trouble. If your truck has a limited slip rear end or front end, all the tires need to be the same size. You can, or you might do a lot of damage if you use a different size tire.

How much did your fuel mileage drop with the larger tires? Love watching your videos.

Look at some of the rv transport videos. It seems like C Farmer was getting 100k out of a set. He was diligent about rotation and balance, but he got his money's worth.
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
Ah, will do! We definitely need to get it aligned too with the way it was wearing, that should help this next set go a little longer too

You can always deflate the spare to get it to fit in that spot assuming you carry a tire inflator with you.

that is a good idea!

Blue Beacons use acid and brightener unless you specifically tell them not to. Not a personal fan of them, as a former truck driver, they're known as the "Streakin' Beacons" due to the soap streaks they leave behind at most locations. 😅

lol! we learned about that nickname when we posted our video where we went through one 😆 I think in the future we'll just stick to washing it ourselves

Trip looks like so fun. Love the history experience. Safe travels made saver with new tries. A bit jealous we had to winterize and cover our motor home this week getting cold in ohio already.

It seems like the cold snaps came early this year! Were real glad we got the new tires now, makes us feel much better about travel days. Thank you for coming along on our adventures!

I love you guys your so trendy.. well I did it I bought a brand new mar coach it will be ready for pick up Feb 12 2024 the 4059 model what is your take on a super c
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
oh congrats!! We actually considered a super c when we were trying to decide what kind of rig to get after our old one. They can definitely be a good option if you want a mid-sized motorhome with some extra capabilities since they are often 4x4
