Years ago I was a theatre student at the Art Institute of Chicago Goodman Theatre and was drawn to the gallery where this painting hangs. It was, for me, an accurate reflection of what it's like to sleep by day and work by night. My graduation present to myself was a framed print which has hung over my bed for the next fifty years, so it's the last thing I see every night as I go to bed.

I think the lights in the second painting are supposed to just be reflected on the glass right? My interpretation is since it's so dark and the lights aren't that bright, they're the only thing that's reflected

Obviously. This channel is clearly run by some idiot with a digitally manufactured voice and likely not an English-speaker.

The painting is during World War 2 where there were nightly blackouts to prevent enemy attacks on cities. That is why the picture is dark outside the diner.

The coffee urns are characters too. I always somehow saw them as equal to the people.

I'm curious about how the title, Nighthawks, links to the painting. Any thoughts on that?

"Exhume"?! It's "exude". I don't trust superficial internet "art critics" who are too stupid to know their own language (and too lazy to have an English-speaker check their videos before publishing them).
