This iMac Storage Dock can also be used with M2 Mac minis and other Macs - Satechi Slim Dock

Just ordered a silver M4 iMac and stumbled across this dock last night. Definitely gonna get this and put an extra tb of storage in it. Opted for the 10 core M4 with base level storage because I just can't justify Apple pricing on storage.

The hub that fits under the mini: I read some folks are having issues with the wifi and bluetooth antennas being on the bottom of the mini- and this may contribute to the bluetooth issues...with suggestion of using the minisopuru as you have shown previously, or similar. The minisopuru seems good as it also allows more airflow around the device, but it has no usb a and I do need those for older peripherals, like dvd players.

Yes, they work great on any mac system and it doesn't need to be the iMac.

Thank you for the post. I use the Minisopuru more only because it's what came first. I have not used the Satechi as much because I only have 1 iMac. I know it's not a great answer but an honest one.

I don't see why not but I have not setup a test like that to see if I would get any disconnections etc. But you can order one and try it out and if not then maybe return it. That is really the only way to know with very specific cases like handling an OS install.

To be honest I'm using the Minisopuru because I had it on the Mac first. So I haven't used the Satechi after the review period since I only have 1 Mac. But I did use it and it performed perfectly for the weeks I was testing. Therefore I really can't say what I prefer but I do like both and I know that is a bad answer but if I can setup the other I will use that again and see what the differences are. The Minisopruru looks more built in if that is what you are going for.

Apart from you telling thousand times you have a blue iMac (yeah we heard it once, that’s not the point of the video right) this is a great product that solves lot so things people have been telling on utube about missing ports etc. A good company and great idea ! I guess they are gonna sell good.

We will see if it sell well. Yes, I mention the blue iMac but its more about having fun and explaining why I have a silver hub. In the end that is what my channel is about and not about a super finished production since it's only a hobby for me. I like to tell more of a story etc.

Why does it only support up to 2tb drives is this a real limitation or they just put that there due to lack of general availability of 4tb and 8tb drives ? How does this look with the 27inch iMac any photos of that ?

Not sure but that is what they listed so it might be a hardware limitation. This would not fit on the stand of a 27" iMac and only the 24".

I like the idea of using that dock with a 24" iMac but I would be reluctant to use it under my keyboard. I think it would raise the keyboard too high and force my wrists to bend excessively. Craig, I've been a subscriber for a while now and really want to see your channel grow, so I'm hoping you won't be offended if I make a suggestion. I think it would attract more subscribers if you tightened up your scripts, for less wordiness and repetitions, and spent less time on your intros.

The typing is actually pretty good with the dock under the keyboard. Since I have my 50 hour a week job I need to create these quickly but in the future I'll tighten things up.

variety is awesome but it does have its downs price is fine but issue is its wired so you need to pull it allways and im pretty sure im not patient enough to carefully pull it but for what it is it is awesome lift on keyboard and sits nicely on imac can also use double tape to hold it on hub so it stays there, i'd still prefer minisopuru because it lifts imac and having extra height seems far better plus its sturdy farctor and non slip(edit if green colour or orther colour comes out let me know please, ill 100% buy it)
