wait reversing the ad actually makes so much sense. I originally thought the complaints about the ad were a bit overblown, but seing just how much better it could be done simply by playing it backwards which preserves the intended meaning while also giving it the positive subtext instead of the negative one, i have completely changed my mind.

I think they were trying to play on the viral trend of using hydraulic presses to crush different things. It can be funny and satisfying to watch in a short but the way Apple portrayed it, esp with the music, felt...off. Like, it could have worked with less somber music and not showing shots of humanoid, vaguely sad looking things getting crushed.

My wife and I doordashed for over a year to make ends meet. One thing Doordash doesn't do is pay taxes on your income. So you will get fucked at tax time. We did. But we had to stop dashing because the tips just suck. We are a "Platinum Tier Dasher" because we average a 4.9 star rating and we were at a 99% acceptance rate (meaning we accepted every order that Doordash gave us). Because we were a Platinum Dasher, with a great rating and high acceptance rate, we could dash whenever we wanted without scheduling a shift in advance. We were also informed that we were "bring prioritized for higher paying tips", which seemed to help at first. We were averaging like $30+ an hour. But recently, we had to stop because even with the same above stats and prioritization, we had some nights making only like 5-10 bucks an hour. It's insane.

I'd really love it if you could post the links to the articles you reference in these videos. I would love to read them to gain a deeper understanding without having to scour google using the quotes you used.

Personally if it makes it easier to talk to people internationally I don't see the problem. There are a lot of things with AI that I don't like but I don't see a problem with this one in particular. It being easier for people to talk to each other is a good thing

Hey chat gpt, Talk to me in german and whenever i make a mistake point it out to me in english. Hey chat gpt help me learn german from no experiencie, please do it slowly and show images alongside any new words you use. Will it make people lazy and not learn stuff? Yes. Will it make it easier for people interested in languages to learn them? Also yes

Very terrifying to think that billions of people worldwide can communicate with each other now without having to learn dozens of languages to facilitate it

Everyone in the world who was travelling and didnt speak the language used some app where he spoke into and it got translated. Its real time now and you have a live translator in your pocket. The employed translators for politicians or whoelse wont be in danger or losing their job because its still an AI

They didn't stop trying to learn languages ffs, people who love to speculate just speculated that people *might* stop using duolinguo, which is one gimmicky app that doesn't really teach people languages all that well.

I thought the ipad ad was cool... Hydraulic press videos are dope, and it's very clear that they're saying "we packed all this stuff you love into our new product"

It's not even the first ad of this style. Pokémon made one for the first Gen (which is even funnier if you take into account that putting that many Pokémon into a GB cartridge was a huge feat in on itself) and even in the tech market LG already did this

Am I the only person not too impressed with that Chat-GPT demo? The previous versions already did most of this stuff, the question is still accuracy and you don't prove that from a really cool looking canned demo.
