How to make beautiful music with an Ableton Push 2. In this video, I cover the fundamental concepts necessary to develop your playing with the Push.
By learning a few simple shapes and patterns, you can unlock endless creativity when coming up with chord progressions, melodies, and solos. The Push has helped me push my music to places I never thought possible. It makes learning advanced chord theory more attainable.
Some people might argue this isn't a "real" instrument. What do you think? What defines an instrument?
---
Learn the fundamentals of the language of music with Ableton Push. I am excited to share the first installment of my music classes with Push.
This class will teach you about note names, scales, intervals, chords and chord progressions through the lens of Ableton Push. Includes 20 videos and 5 PDF slides with overlays of note names, scales, scale degrees, sharps and flats and roman numerals.

For most RND and music gear it’s well past it’s shelf life if looked at simply on the count of how many years old it is. But, at the product - all I could see them adding is a higher res screen. If I had a wish list or a “in a perfect world” list, this would have faders and those touch knobs, but seeing as how we live imperfectly - putting faders would mess with the detentions and this thing is already built like a Mac truck. Still surprised we hadn’t even heard rumors. Or I haven’t at least.

Very nicely presented and super helpful video. It's certainly worth noting though that you've done this in the "new" 4th's Layout for the keys. People coming to Push from Bass, as well as guitar, will love this and you're giving them a really clear idea of just how quickly things can translate from their to the Push! You make me want to hook up my sustain pedal too! :P

@@jxmieblake Wow, I'm super impressed that you even take the time to reply to comments! May I ask, how do I get from knowing the theory behind how chords are constructed, and how to (slowly) play a given chord on the Push, to doing what you're doing here? I mean I totally get the theory, and I understand how the shapes on the Push work, but...how do you do THAT? How do you just string a bunch of chords together and it sounds good? Especially when it comes to chromatic/accidentals which you're doing all the time? Are there certain combinations that you have just learned over time and then it just sort of automatically comes out when you want to improvise? What do I need to do to work toward what you're doing here? :)

I recently got an Ableton Push back in July and let me tell you honestly my friends, this is a multi purpose instrument that has the tools to change and elevate your game as an inspiring producer like no other tool that I’ve ever used in my life. If you have a good ear for music and have had some experience with learning music or have used instruments in the past or present, this instrument would be a game changer for your production skills and take it to another level!

You don't even have to be a producer. The way the Push presents possibilities to you, it makes you a better musician, a better songwriter, and lets you capture all of your idea and tweak them however you want. The sticker price is expensive if you look at it as a midi controller, but if you look at it like an INSTRUMENT then the price is actually pretty cheap.

But what if you already know how to play the keyboard really well and you're already used to a mouse style workflow, would it be of any benefit or a waste of money? I'm up or trying new things I just fail to see how the workflow of this would be any faster than a mouse, it's just not logical + you're limited with your VI selection

For many years, I learned about music theory, and was a trumpet and piano player, before becoming more interested and invested in Ableton and computer music, however I was never so good with improvisation.
