I also went to a Mizuno fitting day today and was expecting to get fitted for a JPX 919 forged. Was hitting my old Mizuno 7 iron 157 and was hitting the JPX HMP 172 on average. The ball flight was really high and looked quick to stop on the green. Felt amazing to hit and I'm only a 15 handicap. Was very happy to order from PW to 5 iron. Can't wait to get on the course with them.

Just ordered a set yesterday after a fitting. Played to a 7 hcp this year (with a great short game), but needed to hit more greens consistently. Had played Ping i200's the past 2 years with Project X 6.0 shafts, but felt I was struggling trying to work in swing changes over past few months with better rhythm. Note - I was still hitting my 7 iron 160+ yards, but felt I was struggling more than I should be finding consistency. I finally felt there was a good looking (more of a player's) option with the Mizuno JPX 919 Hot Metal "PRO" version allowing me (and my pride) to gain both distance and more importantly to me accuracy. Trusted the fitter whole heartedly and picked up 11 yards while only seeing a shot dispersion of 2 yards right and left. Was off 7 yards prior and more erratic. Was also surprised to see Mizuno fitting option show the KBS Tour 90 Stiff as the 1st of the 3 recommended options, but it felt great and it ended up being the clear cut winner. Just as a side note that the Srixon Z585 performed very well and would have been my 2nd option. Thanks for the video!

Just got an iron fitting. NO other manufacturers in the 30 degree loft bracket (7 iron) gave me as good a feel or distance as these. Now it is down to convincing my wife that the 19 extra yards carry with a 7 iron compared to my current Mizuno clubs (MP-H5) is worth the money. I think so...

Very well made and can tell they are premium. I thought I would not leave my cobra F7s, but man...with these I had no hesitation. They are true and I actually love the small amount of offset. I purchased a set from PW to 5 iron. My 7 iron carry was 178 yards with a 123.5mph ball speed with 5600 spin (which is well higher than your spin - maybe ball related?). Given that this 7 iron at Spec of 30 Degrees is really a 6 iron, I view the 5600spin as excellent. I find the clubs very consistent - unlike some other 'hot' faced clubs because for me the spin numbers are higher. After some range work and then a gapping session, I decided to weaken the lower iron lofts to properly gap to my wedges - basically reducing the lofts by 2 degrees in the PW, 9, 8, 7 then a smaller reduction after that. The 9 iron as delivered at 40 degrees was carrying 150 yards - it is now reduced to 42 degrees and carries 144 - PW reduced to 47 degrees from 45 degrees with the new carry being 131 (basically the entire set is gapped to a 13 yard carry distance per club). At the top of the bag, the 5 iron spec is 23 degrees, but I moved it to 24 degrees because it gave me more consistent carry, peak height & better spin - carry 197, peak 33 meters, 4500 spin. I went with the Mizuno recommended Fitting Tool shaft - Dynamic Gold S300 120 Gram Shaft - it is producing very consistently shaped shots. I could not possibly be happier about the purchase as once fit and bent to my specs, I have a set of forgiving irons, that produce consistent flight shapes, consistent distances (131 to 197) with good spin, that then blend into my wedges and hybrids. Finally, if anyone is looking for a good driving iron, consider the Hot Metal Pro 4 iron with +1 inch longer graphite shaft - you will love it.

I wanted to give a little update to my now 6 month old clubs and add some new data. As I stated in my review below, I have weakened the lofts, across the board by 2 degrees and 1 degree in the 5 iron to get the gappings I want. I love the clubs - they are honestly amazing. I have also now hit them against the entire new MB-20 line, also amazing clubs, and they absolutely hold their own. The update is I went with my partner, strong lady golfer, and had her hit all the Mizuno line and at the end of everything, we fit her into PW to 7 iron in the Hot Metal Pros with Recoil 60Gram Senior Flex shaft and she was crushing them - 7 iron for her was 145 carry - a club she never really had before. I then hit 'her' setup, loved it as well, and wanted to pass this info on to all the guys out there with a strong lady golfer in their life - absolutely have her try these clubs with a the 60 gram Recoil F2 shaft (senior) - it is an unbelievable combo! I know most of the guys well at the shop and they were all coming over with smiles on their faces watching her crush this combo

The irons are easily bent to an appropriate lie angle when ordered or afterwards in a fitting. I used the Mizuno fitting tool and it recommended Flat -0.5 - but I ordered Flat -1. When I did a gapping session after hitting the range for a few sessions to learn the new clubs, the GW, PW, 9, 8 were left at Flat -1, the 7&6 were made Mizuno Standard Lie and I had the 5 iron bent to Mizuno +1 upright (which is Titleist Standard). The set now produces my desired flight which is a very slight draw.

I tried these yesterday, along with a lot of other irons, and all I can say is Wow! Distance was great, but what impressed me more was that off center shots lost very little distance. Center hits (7-iron) were carrying around 170-175, while off center hits were around 160-165. There was one shot that was so badly hit off the toe I expected it to go 140, but it went 160. The only worry I have is that a small difference in clubhead speed added a lot of distance. As I often use lower clubs with a softer swing to stay below the wind, hit under trees, etc, these faces may be too hot to accurately peg the desired distance when not hitting a full shot. The other worry is that I like to be able to use low irons to hit full swing, low stingers on occasion, and that may be tough with this 4-iron. But, we'll see. They were impressive enough that I ended up buying them anyway.

My Driver Swing Speed is 105 mph. On the main practice course I play at and work at, a Par 31, I use a 6 iron on the 168 yard par 3 3rd, a 5 iron on the 177 yard par 3 4th, a 4 iron on the 205 yard Par 3 5th, a high cut 4 iron on the 198 yard Par 3 6th, Oh and a 3/4 50° Wedge on the 102 yard par 3 2nd. A 180 yard 7 iron is about 15 to 20 yards longer than myself, and I am in no way a long hitter. So I'd guess his Driver Swing Speed is 120-125 mph. That's certainly not outlandish.

@sirtogii52165 жыл бұрын
@@sactownjoeyOnly 90% if you make a very wide definition. My point was you either go for less offset and feel and end up with the forged, or you go for a game improvement iron like the hot metal. @@sactownjoeyMy point is, Mizuno has "players" models that are forged. They have game improvement model which isn't forged but packed with technology and has the offset the vast majority of players in that category likes. This iron does not offer the feel of a forged iron, nor the forgiveness the game improvement model has. My question still is, who is this iron for? Any decent player going for a Mizuno iron will go for the forged sets. Any half decent player looking to improve will still go fot the forged model. A new player needing forgiveness but for whatever reason want a Mizuno club will go for the most forgiving hot medal version. That leaves....erm...a player that is half decent but does not want a forged club but still wants a Mizuno? In which case that person has kind of misunderstood what Mizuno is all about. Plenty of good non-forged clubs out there but in that case go for Ping for example, who are specialists on making really good cast iron sets that still offers good feel.

I'm definitely not a fan of Mizuno Irons, all of the MP set's only sell because of the "Emperor's New Clothes" marketing aura that surrounds them. If I had $5 for every time I heard some one say "Wow! They have a penetrating ball flight!", aftet hitting a terrible 150 yard 7 iron that didn't get more than 10 feet off the ground, I'd have about $30 bucks! That's why the Mp sets cost $1000 when they come out, then 1.5 years later you can buy as many sets as you like for $200. All that being said, I think these may be the real deal.
