We need independant shops like this back on the high streets of the UK. Look at we have got now. Supermarkets and Greggs. Sad isnt it. Stayed in hotel in Brum Saturday which was supposed to be the Dogs. The food where you are in this video looks better than anything they served.

I'm from Brum and really don't think any hotel here is likely to be good. Only people staying in hotels are passing through for business. A type of place which is always a good shout for food is if you find a pub run by Punjabis. They'll have top tier Currys, tandoori & grilled stuff. Combined with the beer of a pub. Best combo.

What I hate about the majority of UK supermarkets is their lack of (good) hot food. I've been all over europe, and especially in eastern europe, even the smallest of shops (equivalent to a one-stop shop in the UK, i guess) has hot, home cooked food counters.

I do think though you should pimp your table up - thinking maybe a linen table cloth with napkins and proper cutlery and perhaps a small candelabra or tealight and a vase of dainty flowers......that would add to the ambience of eating on a pavement and give you something to do whilst waiting for your order. Quick question, if I may: is the fish and chips usually cod or haddock; and does that vary according to what area of the U.K. you're eating in? (Oops! I guess that's 2 quick questions, if that's okay!) I'm in Newfoundland, Canada. If you order "fish" here, it automatically means cod. Other types of fish are often available, too, of course, but if you want something other than cod, you must specify the species you want. Great videos! I'm really enjoying them!
