You seem to be so calm. I’d be really annoyed that such an expensive piece of kit has stopped working.

Believe me we are ANNNNNOYED! But I guess we’re just learning to accept it . In our sailing career so far (more like boat repair career lol) we have learned to expect things to go wrong or break because they usually do. Even with brand new in-box things we buy. I don’t know why this is like this for the marine world !! We used to think it was just our luck but as we’ve met more and more cruisers, it seems to be a boat world thing lol

It really is a lovely place ! We went back during the day also and it was just as pretty then! Yup , that’s a big hunk of $ that is broken randomly when it shouldn’t be so I can see why he’d be stressed lol

Not a bad place to be broken down. We too were 'stuck' there for 3 days on a charter boat with a failed charge controller.

All in all yeah it’s an ok stop to need some work. Can order in some parts from Grenada for example quite quickly so that’s good ! When you’re on vacation ohhhhh yahhhh sigh me up to be “stuck” haha :) Hey thanks for watching& commenting !

I have had victron inverters fail on me before. Im really not a fan , I only use there solar controllers and I carry a spare just in case. For inverters, i only use Vanner, good enough for an ambulance good enough for me. Never had one fail. I have one thats over 30 years old and it still works flawlessly. Good luck trouble shooting , thanks for the great video , I love that place ,

A boat is a tuff environment for any type of electronic equipment. Nothings last forever in that environment. But Vectron is excellent stuff and I recommend it. Plus as long as you buy it from an authorized Vectron dealer you will get support and a wonderful warranty.
@sailingjoco3 ай бұрын
This is good info ! We do really like our victron products , which is why we’re considering making the switch if necessary. But prudent to do your own research first so you’re comfortable with your decision. These are big ticket items !

@@sailingjoco Yeah I had an inverter that sat in its box for 2 years before I used it once I got it installed it was dead ! I called them and they told me it was not repairable because they did not use that controller chip anymore .(wonder why) And it was out of warranty because it was over 2 years old . It became a 2400$ boat anchor. Vanner , I have two onboard , one for cooking 3200 watts (induction/electric oven) and one for the outlets 2400 watts , that one is 30 years old and I have had it on the boat for 10 of those . They are rebranded by Charles Marine for the marine market but they are the same thing. Hope this helps a bit , sometimes its good to look outside the box for good products.

Sandy island is TOP! So beautiful. We’ll show you the rest of carriacou in the next video(s) so you can get the whole picture ! And of course more boat projects lol

Usually the engine must rev above 1000rpm for the alternator to start outputting 14.4v. If the voltage is too low, it may prevent the Dc-Dc charger to work properly. One other reason for a low voltage is a bad battery but if the engine crank normally, that’s not it. If you have many house batteries, Check the system one battery at a time. I was in Carriacou and Sandy Island last year and it was my favorite spot in the grenadines. Hopefully you have resolved your issue by now, cheers Richard
@sailingjoco3 ай бұрын
Thanks for some of the suggestions ! Our voltage is 👌 , one house battery and it’s good . We think it just comes down to something being faulty from the factory - we’re working with them to fix the issue ; stay tuned !

I am getting the feeling that modern cruising is sailing to exotic places to work on your boat. Is that right? 🙂 I know you smiled, didn't you?
@sailingjoco3 ай бұрын
YES WE DID lol . And then laughed smiled again because you totally called it. Yup, cruising definitely is fixing your boat in exotic places - the elements just wanna eat your boat for breakfast lunch happy hour and dinner 😳

Twice my Vectron Multiplus stopped working because the Ethernet cable somehow failed. Not sure if this dc to dc charger has one but that worked for me. Good luck.

Unfortunately nope doesn’t have one but thanks for the suggestion ! It’s an ongoing problem but eventually we’ll sort it out 💪 Thanks for watchin Dan !

Time for a different boat!! You could get some good deals on used boats!!
@sailingjoco3 ай бұрын
This part was brand new ; that could and DOES happen on new boats too. Has nothing to do with the age of the boat 🤷♀️

@@sailingjoco It might just be me, but list all the stuff you guys have had to repair since you bought this boat. Plus, you could get a larger used boat in the islands for a good price.
@sailingjoco3 ай бұрын
Yes were replaced a ton and made our boat how we would like it for a liveaboard. Maybe we’d find another one but larger boat means more systems and potential problems that we would have to fix. And have to refit it for what we want. At least we know everything about joco? Can trust her hull which we can’t say about a lot of other types of boats
