THIS is a BMW i8! The AC Schnitzer ACS8

Let's check out AC Schnitzer's ACS8 aerodynamic package offering for the BMW i8. It introduces new carbon parts, a wider front track for better grip, lowering springs and an enhanced look - especially in the satin chrome look.
The car was present at last month's Geneva motorshow, but during my visit to AC Schnitzer in Aachen, Germany, we can go for a little drive and explore it some more.

The AC Schnitzer ACS8 package for the BMW i8 is a pretty good look! I stopped by their HQ in Aachen to take it for a drive and see what it's about. I've noticed a few comments about the car's sound; it is enhanced via audio from the internal speakers on top of the noise of the exhaust from the 3-cylinder engine. I should also apologise for my maths fail; the car does of course have 362PS!

Electric motor and petrol engine do not develop power at same RPM and petrol engine has generator, which sends some power to front motor (like electric driveshaft).

Love the i8 design, it still looks ahead of the time, it is really pity that they didn't give it a supercar performance, cause design is definitely in the supercar territory. But it is good that it was well received and sold so it won't be abandoned but upgraded

Ibby what would name a like that? I’d say making a whole new version or series entirely would make more sense. An i8 V2 sounds about right honestly. An Mi8 sounds odd.

In 10-15 years the batteries will die and most of these might be found in junk due to high battery prices..just a possibility! New NSX might have this phenomena as it makes a better use of hybrid system by being an actual supercar. Love the M1 though!

I quite like the i8 as a whole, but I can't stand the 911 rear. Not sure why their design team did not only realise that panel looks like a 911, but also let it go into production looking like that... Plus, a 42L fuel tank is a joke. But an all-around "cool" car nonetheless!

the demand on batteries will be bigger and bigger in the future, I don't think it will be that expensive to replace them when time comes... plus the new batteries will probably be better, they will last longer and so on...

When You put it into Sport Mode It has 65% of noise from the speakers so it is not that loud outside

Love the I8 and the mods on this one really play into the cars overall look without looking tacky. I've never been into red cars but that wrap looks really good on screen. Must look amazing in person. The rotors look slightly undersized with the rims is about the only negative thing I can say about this looker.

Bmw engineers aren't daft. They produced the i8 with minimum rolling resistance - hence there chosen factory tyre width 'section'. I get what AC Schnitzer are trying to do, handling wise; but it's a little counter productive. There will be a play off with rolling resistance with those bigger section tyres/wheels.....why bother? either keep it as 'factory', or buy a fully 'leaded' sports car. Not some diet version. As a first evolution of sports hybrid tech for Bmw, it's a very good effort. This tech will only improve, thanks mainly to F1 and environmental pressure. Good video Tim 😀

lordoftruegaming 60% of the sound is from the speakers, 40% is from the exhaust, if you go listen some outside accelerations of the i8 you actually can listen a nice sound , it's just a 3 cylinder engine! yes we know basically the sound in the interior is fake but who cares?? it's sounds great and that's what matters!

Not sure about the engine noise on this Tim. Salomondrin was saying in one of his videos that the sound you hear in the cockpit is all coming out of the speakers not the exhaust.

Yes, this is correct, the same of the engine is mostly enhanced by the speakers; it's not exhaust.

There's a mic by the exhaust that pics up the exhaust note and it's amplified through the speakers. There's another clip about how to disable is, but it's a ball ache.
