We are a few days away from the biggest WrestleMania match of all-time. Roman Reigns and his legendary 1300 day WWE title run is on the line against Cody Rhodes who desperately needs to finish his story.
While it may seem like an easy decision, it’s not. I think there’s a strong argument to be made for Roman Reigns retaining and beating Cody Rhodes for the second year in a row.

I think Roman has reached a status similar to Brock Lesnar, he's such a special attraction that he doesn't need the belt anymore, even to fight the Rock at Mania. That match will sell tickets regardless. There are going to be a lot of downsides to either decision. Roman winning will just be another year of the chase and Cody will have cooled off far too much. All to break Hogan's record. Not to mention the part timer has the belt. Having Cody win the RR again just to challenge Roman for a 3rd match at this point will be stale. Cody winning also means that the future story telling now that the chase is over will mean less and Rock vs Roman will be a long term, part time story until SummerSlam.

No it is not a hard decision to make. It is an easy decision. One of the easiest decisions in WWE history. Roman Needs to lose the title. If Roman does not drop the title at Mania there is nothing the WWE can still do with this title reign. Nothing. Yeah there are still potential fueds but we all know how these fued would end. It would be another year of Roman reigns barely showing up and reteining hist title at every third PLE by Bloodline interference. Him beating Hogans or Sarmatino's record, is not a good reason for Roman to retain the title either because these records DO. NOT. MEAN. SHIT. welp, the problem can be solved with Cody finishing his Story, as Roman gets screwed by Solo first and Rock dump's him out. Rock goes Full Corpo Heal, and creating his own Bloodline and going after Cody since day 1 and after multiple failed attempts he using his TKO position to make Cody defend the title at Royal Rumble. As Cody is about to be chucked out, Roman returns and brawls with Rock. Both topples over the rope but their blood feud continues. While Cody being battered Seth turns full heel throws him out to become the new champ. or maybe CM Punk can do this same spot.

Roman's title run has been legendary but I disagree about having title challengers ahead that warrants extending the reign. Rock vs Roman doesn't need the title, Seth vs Rollins at Mania should be his retirement match instead of a title match imo, Punk vs Roman is money but the immediate hottest feud for Punk are vs Seth, Drew and maybe even this version of The Rock. Gunther is a heel, he will sell houses vs Cody. Cody winning just makes sense. They're gonna fumble big time if they mess this one up.
