I’m hoping they re-release the original game in this new format (player’s, dm’s, bestiary)! Love having everything better organized (like having all character classes in one book, etc), but don’t necessarily want it in 5e.

This is the best Dark Fantasy setting for me in existence. I haven't even played it yet but all 3 books are so amazing and in such nice quality. As you said, this is also one of the best Monster Manuals I've ever seen. Great reviews of the books as always! Thank you very much!

Yeah it’s really good. I think a lot of folks immediately dismiss it for being 5e but FL really made it special.

@@DaveThaumavore Even though I am not a die hard 5e fan I really love what 5e added to Symbaroum. Because I like my classes and level system and Symbaroum really fits that.

Glad they stuck to the flavor on this one. That was my beef with the change in spells in the other books. So much of what makes Symbaroum appealing is the aesthetic and tone which are really cohesively maintained throughout the original materials.

Symbaroum really is on of the best Gems out there, be it 5e or original rules. I just love the setting and atmosphere in this world.

There is an adventure with the Sly River Hunter called “The Curse of the River Goddess” in the “Adventure Pack One”. It is a pretty good one shot.

Just heard of your KZbin channel yesterday when voting in the Ennies. Impressed by the few videos I have seen so far, I just voted Dave Thaumavore RPG Reviews #1 for Best Online Content! 😈 I was unfamiliar with all of the nominees except for the Sly Flourish Blog, but after reviewing the content of the other nominees this channel stands out for its insightful reviews and has already convinced me to delve a little deeper and consider getting some of the products you have reviewed. So ran my second game today and notice many creatures have loads of hit points like the mare cat a sort of venomous sphynx cat the size of a puma has over 30 hp which seems mad for creature that plagues villages and has low cr

@@DaveThaumavore I decided on second game to just reduce hp as seems reasonable, it's not just the deadliness it's the lack of realism you mention , how are these farmers surviving against mare cats and Jakarta, does village militia have machine guns

I really don't know what version to pick. In one hand the og one looks really build into the world and its look very fucking hard core. On the other one i mybe will want to take this idea and play whit them whit other world's ( i had an idea for a desert survival game) so mybe the 5e version will be batter because i will have more metrial to take from. But 5e exploration and survival become trivial very quickly. But mybe this one fix it. But im kinda want to try new system and 5e is way to heroic for my campiang idea. So many decisions

For exploration I will stick with the original system. Me and my group don’t like the exploration in 5e.

I would go with whichever gives you the most options. If your play group is open to new systems the og will probably be better If getting your play group to play other systems is akin to pulling teeth I'd get thr 5e version and get more tools for your tool kit

If you want to make your 5E game deadlier and grittier you should also definitely check out Darker Dungeons by Giffyglyph. It's a collection of optional modular rules that you can customize and cherry pick just the ones you need for your game. Lots of good stuff in there that would fit a desert survival game.

I wish they would put supplements out in D&D 3.5 or Pathfinder 1e. Pathfinder 2e, D&D 4 and 5 suck.
