13:40~ it's clear they are doing it to make them play around handtraps. How many times are you just looking at a recent deck and most of your commonly used handtraps only work on their less important pieces? It's more and more frequent to play through droll no issues, do full combo with maybe 1-2 points where you can ash something inconsequential like a bonus draw effect on a 3 effect card. Quickplays don't just play around droll, you can out "during the main-phase" effects and also chain to the "C" in the OCG and MD. 3 Nib main decks are getting more common exactly because most of your commonly used handtraps don't even go 1 for 1 anymore at times ash is a neg 1, it's ridiculous.

I watched his video but I think we are missing a piece, Master Duel. Its very popular. It's a best of one format, and the game cannot be considered fair unless Going First and Going Second are equal. While going first has always been better, the Side Deck allows you to prepare for either in a best of three format as well as better deal with threats from an opponents deck. In Bo1 you have games basically being decided by coin flips, strong decks obviously can win more likely against lower tier decks regardless but now its harder for rouges to even stand a chance as they cannot prepare for everything. Meaning that Konami now make decks that at least have a chance of getting through multiple negates regardless of weather they go first or second.

Cap acting like Konami doesn’t intentionally design cards to handle the current staples or decks is wild. They been giving seemingly random effs to cards that are 100% meant to play around something since as far back as Spirit Dragon’s anti-pendulum effect, all the way through Gigantic Spright locking both players to 2s and “coincidentally“ beating Nib. The new searchers being quick plays is almost definitely on purpose lmao

Cap pretending Konami doesn't know what the most played cards are is nasty business. If they want the new deck to be strong, they will definitely consider which relevant staples they want the deck to play through. Otherwise, the deck won't sell as well because it's not as effective as the decks currently in the format.

Yeah strange he polemicized that point. Konami definitely knows how to design decks such that they dodge the most used hand traps in the game. It would be dumb not to.

Personally I hate the kashtira not because of any of their effects but 1 aspect. Face down banish. Facedown banish is the most broken removal way and not even boss monsters have that. It is nuts to give that effect to a card that will remove from THE DECK or EXTRA DECK and the neither is necessarily RANDOM. It is just stupid because recovering a banish facedown is crazy hard. Hell recovering most spell or traps that are banished is hard but recovering banish facedown is near impossible and decks that work around recovery like nemeses supplemental engine just get completely irrelevant. The even more disturbing part is that kashtira cards are not even being banned or reworked while tearlements and ishizu cards WHICH ARE MUCH MUCH MORE FAIR are completely killed off in all 3 formats. How is a generic banish facedown from opponents hand deck grave and extradeck archetype balanced at all?

6:11 lol. I remember the earlier, simple yugioh cards got banned because their 1 effect had no drawbacks, as well as cards like stratos could search themselves with their 1 single effect they were able to use (it had only two when summoned, but only one was usable).. nowadays, if you don't have 3 (3! 3 effects! Not just 1) different effects that have no drawbacks, with an effect that can also search yourself, you're just not competitive.

Archetypal hand traps would be cool maybe an Archetypal spell hand trap would be cool, maybe Archetypal hand trap would be the same as impermanence but it would need like reveal an Archetypal card to negate or destroy or special out an monster from deck to either target and destroy or target and negate something like that

Card prices section: Ignoring my obvious troll and sarcastic replies. This is a question no one wants to answer or can't: If we pretend ever meta deck was dirt cheap (say 50$ max) and had the best business practice. Why do you still complain about the meta or how toxic/broken game is. Reponses is always the sane out of touch regurgitated nonsense from casuals, people that have no intention playing meta, people coping about fav anime deck or deck in general, or people that have not played in years. And people wonder why I don't take their complaints seriously if they're just going to respond with the sane unoriginal regurgitated comments
@Zetact_6 ай бұрын
The primary issue is that yes, casual players have no intention of playing meta... So how do they play? Not everyone has friends who they can play casually with, and there isn't an online environment that facilitates more casual play. Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't have any officially supported (or even fanmade and also widely supported) that lets power creep be reigned in - the closest you get are legacy formats but those also inevitably get "solved" and also don't really address the issue of, like, "What if the person wants to play War Rock?" For a multiplayer game, having a lot of people entering the game and sticking with it is more important than having competitive, hardcore players happy. Because getting players to just play the game breathes life into it, some of them will press forward and become hardcore but MOST won't. You could make the best game ever but if it's multiplayer, and is struggling to retain players, it's on borrowed time. Having 1000 people who spend $10 on product is better than having 100 people who each spend $100 even if the dollar value looks identical. Most other card games have managed to keep an officially supported format that keeps more casual players happy. Even strategy games like Pokemon and Advance Wars have their online sims be structured such that let every character - even ones that are blatantly OP or underpowered - can see play, by enforcing their "only use specific tier or lower" rule. Heck, even old unbalanced fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2 have that - where a fanmade ruleset complete with a mod that made it go from "only around 8 of the over 50 characters will ever see play" to "there's a spot for EVERYONE." Yu-Gi-Oh is frankly an anomaly in that nothing like that has ever arisen, so if you don't like the current meta in either the TCG or Master Duel your only option is simply to not play. And if you don't like the "current" meta not because of a specific deck but just because you don't like the power creep in general it basically guarantees you won't like any future meta. Basically Yu-Gi-Oh is a game where unless you're super competitive, if you ever find a meta that you think is bad BECAUSE you don't like how powerful the decks have gotten, you might as well drop the entire game because it will never go back.

@@Zetact_ I've suffered some cognitive decline in the last few years. I'm slowly coming back from my most recent hiatus from the game and I'm just stunned by the dregree of powercreep over the last three years. The cards do so much and play around disruption. The amount of disruption during your own turn before you've had the chance to even play is absurdly oppressive. Mind you, I had been on the periphery of the competitive scene, one and off, from 2009-2016 and at my most competitive in 2017. Now, I struggle to understand cards and their basic interactions due to the walls of texts and the 3 effect nonsense 😢

If Konami stopped making cards that serve multiple purposes, people would be required to play more engine cards and lower the number of handtraps. This would also increase the power of handtraps, bringing back some of the blowout draws we see in popular formats like Goat Format. Many modern combo starters serve multiple purposes and have no tradeoff. Even when they have a cost, it is usually to make the card a secondary combo extender. Bring back LP costs, relevant summon restrictions, or even banish facedown. One archetype shouldn't be able to combo through multiple handtraps with little non-engine support.
