This Is a Nice Upgrade - Hyperbell Barbell by Jayflex

I tried the Jayflex bars (ez and straight bar) with the core home fitness adjustable dumbells but really didnt like the feel of the jayflex barbells and the weight distrubution felt weird to me. I tried them for a week but they didn't grow on me. I kept the dumbells but returned the Jayflex bars. A 4ft or 5ft olympic barbell with a 500lb weight capacity and barbell collars costs less than one Jayflex bar alone (at retail pricing). I went with a 5ft Lionscool olympic barbell. They are underrated by far. Over time I bought 245lbs of cheap iron weight plates ($308 with tax total) 45's, 35's, 25's, 10's, 5's, and 2.5lb plates and bought a standard weight tree. The whole set up fits in a 3ft by 5ft space on the floor but can fit vertically in a closet for a more space saving set up. The set up and break down is just as fast as the Jayflex and adjustable dumbell set up but I feel less awkward and can do deadlifts a LOT better and all other lifts more smoothly. Just lay a yoga mat down below where you lift along witb two folded towels and you're able to reasonably protect your floors as long as you don't drop your weights or slam them down, just control the movment and you're good. But yeah weight plates stacked on each other or on a weight tree don't take up much space at all for apartment living. But I'm glad more home gym products are availble and work well for people in small apartments like us and your set up is an awesome minimalist set up for beginners for sure.

How much would you say all your equipment cost in total? I have a full gym just wondering for a friend

For just the dumbbells and bodyweight home gym? If you count everything around $1200 - $1300. This includes smaller extras I don't use all the time.

Agreed - this would be an awesome accessory to sell - especially if they had one that fit other dumbbells types.

I say it is definitely not required, and pricey, but if you use it a lot, it is worth it - can make some exercises more comfortable. However, it is not required in any way, so it is optional.
