Bought a Jackery after seeing yours, with the solar panels. Haven’t used the panels yet but I use the Jackery often enough

That's a nice little unit and full of great information, a battery powered computer in your hand. When you did the intro I thought your were going to recommend that nice quilted, hooded top, but I guess that you must have received for Christmas., that is good too!

I prefer Rhubarb myself, or is that a cat? Maybe thinking of Bagpuss. Now I have that crazy tune in my head, the rhubarb and custard intro.

But you’ll need a computer to plug it Into, which will be a problem if it all kicks off. Plus, you’ll need to carry it with you if you re-locate, and also have to deal with problems RE Emp if that happens.

I'm confused. How did it hook up to the internet if you were in the middle of nowhere with no service? Thanks.
@ZaphodBeeblebrox-s6y3 күн бұрын
I actually have one! It doesn't hook up to the internet, it has copies of all those websites so it creates a hotspot - like a phone would - and then you can access only those sites. It would work on the moon I suppose :)
@Addictedtobleeps2 күн бұрын
That’s the better way of explaining it! 👍🏻
@1969longshanks17 сағат бұрын
I like it very much but I’m 55, my 18 year old son says that someone his age could download all this information and more from the internet and make a similar device in 30 minutes.
@Addictedtobleeps17 сағат бұрын
@@1969longshanks Hi Hi! Yes, you could. But (and let your son read this) you have to remember this is for a survival situation. So, you wouldn’t want to be lugging a laptop around, to view the files (if you’ve put them on USB). The raspberry PI is small and convenient. Secondly, is the concerns around EMP. Your USB stick, and laptop would be fried. This device sits in a handy protection bag, which solves that. Also, you can have twenty people join this, using its own WiFi - something you couldn’t do with a singular USB, or Sd card via a laptop. So, yes - you could set up your own. But by the time you’ve purchased the PI, brought a 512 SD, a EMP protection of some sort, WiFi enabling, etc etc, you’d probably consider the price (for a one stop shop) to be quite reasonable 👍 At least I think so, anyhow.

Great for areas with poor internet connections, but useless in an apocalypse: you're making a mighty big assumption that all those websites' servers will continue running indefinitely, after the power, water etc. have gone.
@Addictedtobleeps3 күн бұрын
@richardcastle3204 Hi, Richard! You’ve missed the point on this one bud. It doesn’t depend on any external internet. It’s its own self contained unit, where all those websites are ‘hosted’ So, you can access it anywhere, anytime, even if the ‘real’ internet has gone down. That’s the clever part about it. 👍 In a nutshell, it’s a LOT of data, taken from the internet that we know, and hosted on this little unit.

@@AddictedtobleepsHi Chris enjoy your videos for many years. Enjoyed this video but I’m not sure it’s that clear about the connectivity issue? Maybe put a spoiler at the top saying - no internet needed to access the websites - as it’s not clear enough. Cheers
@RIH_Photography3 күн бұрын
But it would need a working internet. Will this happen at the point the S hits F ?
@Addictedtobleeps3 күн бұрын
No, no. It’s its own internet. It doesn’t rely on any other network other than that little box. Cool, huh? 😁
@baz58533 күн бұрын
@@Addictedtobleeps I think calling it "internet" is confusing, you are just connecting to a local device via Wifi and browsing the files on that device. Still a good device :)
@ArtbyKatina3 күн бұрын
Hi Chris When the S hits the F will there be satellites in service to use the Prepper Disc.?
@adamchace22 сағат бұрын
No satellites needed! It just serves the copies of websites it has on its disk.
