Nobody is gonna demonstrate a Romanian deadlift this way…they’re gonna use a ultralight weight with a perfectly straight back, huge range of motion, and probably a pause at the bottom..but let me tell ya, that’s pencilneck methodology. Horse huge loads just below the knee and the carryover is massive.

Barbell medicine does something similar. They use RDL's to supplement the deadlift, stopping just below the knees and repping out the top half of the deadlift. Speaking for myself, they're definitely useful.

Wow.. I’m in straight up awe.. 750 on RDL is NUTS! I’m recovering pencil neck. I recently hit a PR on RDLs at 200lbs for 3 sets of 1 negatives. I built up to doing my body weight over 3 years very strict. Then I did the 200lbs which is 1.25x my body weight. I think in another 3 years I can do 500 on RDLs.

GREAT WORK! i sprinkle your methodolgies in my training and it helps a ton! ive got disproportionately long femurs. i had a DL max of 395. decided to work RDLs to compensate. I can now RDL 285x20. gonna go for 295 in a week or so. Now i can casually DL sub 450. I expect to hit over 500 on DL by December. All the glass backs and pencil necks hate on me every time i post a PR video.

Yeah it is easy to do perfect form with lightweights, but when you're pushing the limits of your body form breakdown can occur. A few short days ago I recently had a pr on the high handle trap bar deadlift and got 752 pounds which was a 20 lb PR from the 732 I did last time. The rep got a little ugly and I started to lose my grip but I got the weight! I want to be on team psycho pharma!

The fact of the matter is we gotta get rid of these terms like "Romanian" or Jared style and find the intricate path between these lifts and really connect with the body as best as we can. If that means rack pull it to start and then descend into the depths of density, so be it brother. Bands skyrocketed my PRs in every lift because of the CNS shock. Easily drove myself to my max failure every single time because of the variable resistance.
