Dear Gerhard, this time is VERY MUCH DIFFERENT for the following reasons ; 1) Governments are investing in BTC and other cryptos like never before. Only a year ago less than half a dozen countries were invested in cryptos (i.e Germany, North Korea). Right now at least a dozen countries are publicly building reserves or about to open reserves including major players in the global economy such as the US, China, Brazil, India and Russia. 2) Blackrock and Mr. Saylor are the vocal enterprises buying BTC and cryptos but there are dozens (soon to be hundreds) of hedge funds, sovereign funds (i.e that in the UAE) and financial institutions that are going to include cryptos in their portfolios. 3) Gold is a shiny rock that has a beautiful color but in this day and age it is not a versatile tool of investment and wealth preservation. Many Asian countries tax gold holdings and as people are more mobile and travel a lot storing in safes is not a viable option for generation Z. Does gold have industrial uses? Sure it does but there are a thousand other metals that can also be used. Does anyone in his right mind believe that his/her cheap Chinese made mobile phone has grams of gold in it to insure its smooth function?

It isn't but we may get a blow-off top soon and they happen very quickly so it's better to be prepared. Also, the downside risk is quite high compared with the upside potential so the risk is high and rising. So, we can either continue to be long, while being prepared for a sudden sell-off or diversify a % into an asset such as gold.
