If you weren't already aware, if you do a light spritz of windex before putting down the screen protector, it will allow you to adjust the position a bit and squeegee out the vast majority of the little bubbles you showed in the video. Just a light misting, and then after you squeegee, let it dry. This works for basically any screen protector, and also for vinyl decals.

The auto resin filler is such a great idea, and honestly under utilized here. A software update could make it so that the amount of resin used is calculated, and it could put in just enough to finish out the print. That means no more extra resin you have to pour back into your bottles.

This sounds terrible. Each resin has different exposures. You'd want the autofiller to have the same resin as the entire print.

I do like that the build plate design and depth of the vat work to not fill in those bolts on the top with resin. I've always hated the '4 bolt style' build plates because they've got so many fidgety bits on them for resin to get stuck in. -- On the other hand, that auto-fill system looks just smart enough to be a real problem. I foresee it squirting resin directly onto the screen because a switch in it got stuck or something. Guess that's why it comes with a screen protector.

Wanted to post a heads up here. I got the M3 Max over a month ago and I was very excited to get it going. But after a couple of days of trying to calibrate it for the large prints I hoped to do, I tore the FEP on the vat. Managed to make a mess, but the BIG issue is that Anycubic... HAS NO REPLACMENT FEP SHEETS FOR THE MAX IN STOCK. I ordered a pack of 5 in early June and they're still telling me to wait. If you're thinking of buying the MAX, stay away until Anycubic has proper support or go for another printer. I just ordered a largish generic roll of FEP to see if it can work.

Great idea for the auto filler, those tines are the level sensor, very cool! But the hole in the case may be troublesome for those with a window behind their printers. In programs for full color 3d printing, holes become solid white lines, maybe that is similar in photon workshop? Details on the bust are great!

If it wasnt already hard enough to justify the $2300 price tag on the Phrozen Mega 8k, this will suck up all of the sales theyre missing out on by being unable to keep the 8k in stock. $1100 vs $2300, 7k vs 8k, 13.6" vs 15" screen size. Yeah I'll go with the M3 and save myself $1200.

@@dancarr2099 and that’s also relatively easy to do. There are usb-powered heaters that heat a little carbon fiber pad acting as a resistor that could be wrapped around the bottle and they are very cheap. I have some of them around. I’ll try them

@@northwales1000 With a magnetic stirrer like the ones used in laboratories, it wouldn't be any more difficult than a color change with the default system. Just take out the cap from the bottle and take out the stirrer (which is just a magnet bar coated in teflon) with another magnet and clean it with the solvent, which you still have to do with the cap thing from the machine, which looks like a lot more difficult to do. And those stirrers are not that expensive (or you can even 3d print one for cheap). You could also use a vibration stirrer, but that might be a lot more difficult to implement.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it in your comments but to solve the air bubbles in your screen protector you need to spray some water/dish soap solution on then screen then apply the protector with a squeegee.

I´m on the Jupiter KS as well. My opinion is both machines are equivalent... the 7K resolution, bigger print volume and smaller footprint is a win for the anycubic.... on the other hand the jupiter seems sturdier, and I like the jupiter resin feeding solution better.. Elegoo could deliver the z extension kit with a screen resolution upgrade but I guess they left the modularity behind when decided to ship the printer fully assembled.

I've had my M3 Max for a week and I absolutely hate everything about it. I've scraped more prints off the FEP than I have my build plate. I deeply regret being swayed by the size of the Max over the quality of the Saturn2.

I just bricked my MonoX and I'm waiting for parts so its tempting seeing new models when you don't have one working at all haha. I love it but I do wish they would have put a heating unit inside at least the top of the range unit. But I suppose that hole at the back would be an ideal way to feed in a power cable from a 3rd party heater. Its fine in nicer weather but during those winter months I really struggled getting my shed up to temperatures the resin was happy with and as we all know, energy prices are just going through the roof right now. A small heating unity that just heats the printer would be fantastic. Maybe something they could release as an addon?

Interesting how the original resin printers had auto fillers, then they disappeared but are now coming back. I remember there were many problems with the plumbing so hopefully they have solved that. Heck, I have a printer from 2012 that used liquid resin but without a vat, and the most difficult part of maintaining it was keeping the hoses clean. Had to run a separate cleaning cycle with a solvent after printing.

@Uncle Jessy Best way I found to get screen protectors down w/o air bubbles is to spray the screen with a little IPA and push them out to the edge. Use a paper towel to catch any extra IPA that leaks over, smmoth clean screens every time.

I just bought my First Resin printer, a Nova3D Whale 2🧐 but then i realised i bought "to" big to learn and the amount of resin to fill it🤔. I bought it on a whim🤑, ive been just looking for 12 months an missed some sales, then out of the blue i was shopping on my fav site aliexpress end of January an saw this from Nova3D and their store. About those artifacts: The photon workshop can't handle tiny overlapping surfaces and open faces that well , which is exactly what supports in Chitubox are ... EASY FIX: export to stl with supports via chitu, open this file in Windows 10 3D builder and press the button in the right hand corner which says its non-manifold. 3D builder takes some time to fix all the issues and then it's ready to export, which you can then import in the photon workshop

I always take pre suporteded files or suported files from chitubox and put them into 3d builder. They run the stl threw a repair and then save it. Then I put it in the anycubic workshop and slice it. It's a few steps but it seems to get the best results for me. Always check for artifacts in your sliced files before you print

I wonder if this would allow prints with a colour gradient. For example, start with a full resin tray of clear, with the drip feed adding a coloured resin. Or the reverse

Combine this with a Cosori automatic coffee mug warmer to heat the resin bottle to your desired temperature and I doubt there would be any chance of having those weird layer lines when adding resin. Even in winter.

I like the auto-fill idea. But I question the practicality of it. The resin needs to be shaken before you pour it out of the bottle. Given that, how can resin be sufficiently mixed before it pours it into the vat automatically? That being said/asked, OMG that build plate/volume is dream-wothy!

Just wondering, is there an agitator for the auto feeder? I would be concerned about the resin in the bottle falling out of solution over the course of a long print. Maybe not enough to effect larger elements of the print, but enough to interfere with capturing detail as the print goes farther.

Jessy, thanks for another great video. I like my Anycubic Mono X but one thing that bothers me is that neither Chitubox or Lychee support variable layer settings for Anycubic. I’m printing some pretty large parts and the ability to change the lift speed and exposure time only in certain areas of the print would be very useful. These functions work for most of the other machines out there. I really like the M3 Max and it would be an easy decision if it had all of software functionality that other brands have. Any thoughts on whether these functions will ever be available for the M3 Max or any other Anycubic machines? Thanks

Question. Just bought one of these bad boys. The auto fill works however when it stops there is a gurgling or bubbling that happens within the resin bottle. Normal or not. Like I was saying, It seems to be working just fine though.

I have an old Anycubic Photon S that I still use Photon Workshop to slice files for. The artifacts you are getting are from hollowing with Chitubox. I never got the same problems if I hollowed with Lychee or Meshmixer before slicing in Photon Workshop. Presupports shouldn't be a problem, it's some weird interaction between Chitu hollowing and Photon slicing. If your presupported files are hollowed already, that's an issue, but if you have the Lychee file, I'd just remove the hollow (or reload the unholllowed STL) export and hollow in Photon Workshop. If you only have presupports as an STL or Chitu file, you might be stuck resupporting yourself

Anycubic Photon M3 Max questions: 1. What frequency is the FEP supposed to be tuned to? 2. Does the FEP spacer still require the "13mm" bottle cap depicted in their official FEP Replacement video or is the M3 Max a different calibration? (I have seen some 19mm spacers from users.) 3. What is the torque setting for the screws on the FEP sheet? 4. Replacing the Glass under the LCD left a gap on one side is there a way to combat this? As the adhesive strip needs to be as far out of the print area, and on the perimeter as possible. 5. Anyone able to fix the touch screen not responding often? Generic Questions: 1. Does anyone consider that the FEP has to be the same temperature as during normal operations while installing the new sheet? I'm sure temperature has some (if negligible) difference?

I would love to get a printer of this size for Warhammer, I push my mars 2's build volume a lot. However I find it crucial to have an angled attachment that either comes with the unit, or can be printed to allow the build plate to drip off excess resin for a long period of time before removing the models for less mess, however these larger build plates make it seem very difficult to do so, and you end up wasting a lot of resin that could have dripped off.

You showed that the auto fill her wire went into the hole in the cover at the back. That whole is only for the fill hose and air hose not the power wire. The power wires actually on the back of the machine and that’s where you plug the power in for the auto fill cap.

You’re better off with an FDM printer in my opinion. Resin prints are very delicate and the resins are more expensive, specially for a big print like a mandalorian helmet

@@shakam.5658 a CR-10? Nice! If you’re still looking for a large format resin printer you might look for the phrozen mighty 8K, but resin printing is a lot messier than FDM so just take it into account. There are resins that might not break that easily like sirayatech’s blu resin or superPP from 3Dmaterials or any of the called “tough” resins, but they are usually pricier than standard resins. Or you can even mix flexible resins to make them more durable. Anyway, hope this helps

I cannot understand what the point for the screen protection while it doesn't cover the edges. What is resin splash off the vat into the screen? Ok the screen will be protected but resin will find its way down into the UV Led unit.

The video shows that the auto-feeder could potentially be a separate product: with a fluid level sensor in the vat, separately powered (could be split from existing 12v power - just a connection adapter), with a bottle pump-cap assembly. Just need to drill holes in existing machines to let the tube pass-through.

Thought the wash & cure station was large enough to use with the Jupiter and was going to buy it right away, but the max sizes are 9.65" for curing and the Jupiter is nearly 13" Back to the drawing board! lol

Thanks Uncle Jessy, I've never had a 3d printer before, so I watched many review videos, including most of yours, before deciding which ones to buy. I narrowed it down to Elegoo's Saturn2 8K and Sovol's SVO4 IDEX............ Yes, I was 'jumping in at the deep end'. Call me a moron, but I then went on Amazon to buy them, and discovered they aren't yet being sold. LOL But neither are they in stock anywhere in the UK. LOL. I COULD have purchased one direct from Elegoo in China, but because of the 'chip shortage' they are only exporting 1,000 units PER MONTH to the UK, and one has to pre-order and wait months to get one. Having said that, I suspect MOST are going to KZbin Reviewers, like yourself. LOL. Whatever, I was shocked to discover that whilst the Saturn2 8K costs £550, the shipping cost is £280 !!!! So, I thought 'xxx that for a game of soldiers' and went on Amazon and bought the printer that you are reviewing here. Whilst it's 7K, the screen is slightly smaller and (I believe) that means that the Pixel resolution is about the same, or slightly better? Anyway, I ordered it on Friday, along with Anycubic's Wash and Cure Plus. The Wash and Cure arrived the following morning and the Photon Max on the Monday. So, that's excellent service from Amazon (and I hate Amazon!) Both machines were packed securely and safely, most especially the Photon, with that 'aluminium' (note the CORRECT spelling LOL) Basically, you only have to inspect the outside of the box and if there are no holes, tears, or deep dents in the corners, or on the sides, you can 100 percent guarantee the machine hasn't been damaged in any way. It's basically all strapped in and cocooned in 'foam', so it's it almost impossible for the Z-axis pillar to punch through the box, or to be impacted upon from the outside and bent out of alignment. Still, I checked and double-checked everything, and went about setting it all up. And that's when I got to the screen protector. I made the mistake of doing this with the machine sat on the floor. People, put it up on a clean table. Dust and hair got on the underside of the protector and on the screen, and after several attempts at removing it, cleaning it, and re-applying it, I had to give up. There is NO SPARE, in the box, and replacements from Anycubic cost £25! Well, I ordered two, just in case I have another disaster! If I manage to do the same 19 more times, I COULD have bought myself another Photon Max! LOL. My replacement screen protector(s) will arrive tomorrow and I will be applying the first with the machine up on a table away from dust and hairs and indeed the cat. LOL. I would suggest that anyone who hasn't applied a screen protector before, have a watch of some videos. You made it look very easy. It's not! Anyway, hopefully I'll be up and running tomorrow and doing my first test prints. As I said I've never even touched a 3D printer before, so if my prints turn out well it'll be down to the Photon Max, not me. I like the idea of the resin filler but look forward to the gen2 of it. A rubber gasket for the pipe to feed through to minimize fumes and maybe a more intutive connection at the back so your not fiddling with the screw cap,

The filling is cool and all.... does it also drain the vat? I see opportunities for a tilting mechanism in the plate/bottom and reverse suction the resin back in the bottle.....

Looking at getting into printing later on during the year, probably a silly question, if the printer is out of UV light in a normal environment (not partially damp or cold) can you just leave the printer full of resin, or will the resin eventually go off being left exposed to air? My printer will probably be standing for 4-6 weeks before being used again.

Interested about how the auto-feeder pump will last... and man they cannot put some kind of rubber grommet in the pump cables through the acrylic? External light can came through in some cases. Jesse what about the translucent FEP?? thoughts? How it cleans, better than transparent ones? Nice touch about putting a free screen protector, but normal, the screen on their Mono X was a scratch magnet, super delicate screen!

I've found that with photon workshop you can't use pre-supported files that were made with other slicers because it just introduces those weird artifacts that ruins prints.

Make sure you monitor your knobs... the last few machines Anycubic has put out have knobs that disintigrate when resin fumes get to them... I had to get aluminum knobs from Etsy a month after owning my Mono X... the main knob completely fell apart and parts fell into my resin vat

I would like to put hinges on the top to lift the front panel without having to find space for, other than having enough clearance above the printer. If that is a problem, then split the FP and put hinges on the sides

I hollow and support in Prusa slicer, then slice in Photon Workshop for the 4k mono and I don't get any artifacting. Just ran a test with chitubox and the file was full of artifacting if I hollowed it but none if it was solid.

I’d argue that it is very unclear in the instructions whether a screen protector comes installed or not. I had to send a message to Anycubic and got confirmation that the Photon Mono X 6K indeed comes with a screen protector already installed and another complimentary spare provided. And I’ve seen other reviewers install the spare also so Anycubic would do well to clarify their instructions.

@@j.israelsson yeah, you're right. I knew it was a usable protector because of the white sticker on the top right. I am used to changing phone/tablet/computer screens, soy I recognized it. I guess that if you're not used to this, it is indeed confusing.

@@Andithemago Yes you're right. To me the white sticker means nothing other than it being a screen protector for shipping, like the film on the interface screen and not a "screen protector". And yes I have never, and will never apply a screen protector to my phone or iPad screen. Here though I can see the use for it. I'm still confused though, the thin film that the white sticker attaches to is NOT the screen protector but the protective film protecting the screen protector, or?

It would be weird to not remove the sheet with the sticker but it is not obvious by looking and slightly touching the screen border that there is a screen protector installed. On friends phones it has been very obvious since the screen protector is quite thick. Thanks for your clarifications!

Thanks for the video Uncle Jessie! Your channel is what inspired me to get the Photon Mono X and i've gone through quite a few 1kg bottles since then... Is it possible for you to share the calibration settings you inputed for this machine? UV Power, exposure time, etc?
