Mos def was my Morpheus. I grew up on radio hip hop for the longest time until I heard him on Chappelles show, blew my fucking mind. After Mos I found kweli, jdilla, common, mf doom etc. I got lucky I saw that episode it changed my life.

My favorite part of the video was that Thomas D. Rice Jim Crow reference at the beginning when the video started. From the dancing to the Jim Crow pose he did while holding the gun and then shooting the guitarist at point blank range. That video was so epic and genius. It took a brilliant mind. He took 400 plus years of oppressive history and placed it in 4 minutes and 4 seconds. Absolutely amazing concept. The way guns were handed with care while people were disposed of. It really showed how America is.

yorknorthyorkeastyork etobicoketorontoscarborough if you understand the video he's depicting all the dance moves that we do girls and guys. And showing how they all become trends and distractions while all the chaos and social issues we face are being ingnored. So he's proving how we are distracted by who and what people in the entertainment industry are doing. Genius... SMH

The lyrics are making a point in their simplicity. When he kills people a generic trap instrumental plays and he "mumble" raps. Amongst MANY messages, he is hinting at the death of good rap also. He did the gucci gang cadence too for like four bars at one point. People are so deaf to deeper meaning.

I think the faction of his talent where he is most under-rated is his stand-up. That may just be cause I am a big stand-up fan but I see a lot of Delirious era Eddie Murphy in his stand up, not a straight comparison but the handling of the subject matter, his observations gives me that energetic and friendly Delirious vibe.

Childish got Kanye , Kendrick, drake , Tyler , cole, wale, Joyner Lucas , and logic tight af by doing this video and song so effortlessly They been trying for years to capture the whole culture with a video and message that means something Drake had to give out a million dollars and it won’t even close to the 40+ million views childish pulled in in less then 3 days !!!

I wouldn’t necessarily say Joyner though. He’s had multiple videos that have made a huge splash. Not only was “I’m Not Racist” arguably the video of the year this year asides from “This is America,” but it did catch A LOT of people’s attention. Kendrick’s videos have always been captivating as well.

The fact that the song is so minimal adds to of "this is American" America literally appreciates and glorifies nothing; however, things of value are forgotten and ignored.

If you had any reading comprehension you would understand that this applies to the celebrities that get the credit for what they don't do..ie Cardi B, The Rock, Beyonce... etc. If Donald Glover produces and writes his greatness, then my statement doesn't apply to him you dumbass. Now if were specifically talking about the This is America video, and you actually look at the credits... Donald doesn't list himself as the producer, director, or choreographer of it? So what is your point I think you left it somewhere.

Kalvin So? That doesnt mean he wasnt heavily involved in the process. Kanye has his latest music made by other producers but he’s still heavily involved and directing everyone he collaborates with to fulfill his vision. Other people are directing/producing it yeah but they were most likely heavily supervised and influenced by Donald.

Matthew Andino I agree with what your saying but I don't relate to him on no type of level he doesn't speak for me through his music meek mill would be more of a artist I can relate to ....sometimes less is more you don't need to be a actor Singer dancer rapper to be a genius I think that type of statement is overrated and not necessarily true all the time
@thecomedian6322
@thecomedian6322 6 жыл бұрын
Bars&Hooks HipHopTV you're right, you don't need to be. But when you're gifted with a lot I think you're better off using all your talents because black people are usually portrayed as a cluster. Especially in media. Hes a baller, that's a pimp, that's a ho, blaseblah. When you can do more than one thing it forces people to think outside the box. So I appreciate an artist that could do more. Saying that, he's weird. But I relate to that lol.
