Eminem has also said in his rhymes that he and Dr Dre fuck each other, that he skins people, has a whole song about him murdering his wife. Bottom line is, quoting Eminem lyrics doesn't really mean anything. Also saying that he became wealthy through black music (which is true) and "exploiting african issues for profit" are the same thing is crazy.., ESPECIALLY when you are talking about Eminem a person who's actions to give back to black culture and African American youth are well documented. (And not because he shouts his donations out either). Royce/Budden in this very video said that they know Eminem is not that person. So what narrative are you trying to drive here?

It came across, Joe, like you were talking out of both sides of your mouth on the racial issue. Either Eminem was being a hypocrite or he wasn't. If he wasn't being a hypocrite but it was still offensive because of presentation then you're saying he's a puppet not in control of his career. Which isn't as bad as being a hypocrite but it's bad. Second, there is nothing constructive, mature, respectful or intelligent about describing a song as "trash" or "garbage." That's not truth, it's schoolyard. It's not brutal honesty to anyone older than 12. It's a gratuitous insult. And you're a very smart man with a big brain and extensive vocabulary and you don't have to use petty, insulting words regarding a song with thought, intention and a concept behind it.

@dylanmazzocca3852 6 жыл бұрын
Tim Davis That is fair point. I remember him saying before that he hasn't listened to the album on another podcast as well. What I mean is that he clearly defended Eminem's artistic choices and defended the songs that he did hear. For instance, on Everyday Struggle he defended the amount of pop stars on Eminem's album. The only negative thing he ever said about it was he didn't like the production of the Untouchable track, but he said that he liked the message and thought Eminem's lyrics were on point. That is the only time I think Budden actually criticized Eminem...Unless I'm missing something from Twitter, but I don't follow much of that bullshit, except for if it's something important to understanding a side of a story.

Tim Davis Yeah, he should of listened to it all, but I was more commenting on how people are saying he was calling Eminem trash, which he wasn't. Budden even mentioned what you said; about how he can't really critique Eminem because he didn't review the album. That's why the people saying that he is going against Eminem are being ridiculous. It makes no sense.

Joe changed as soon as he blew up criticizing rappers and artists on his podcast and that’s also when he decided to start calling Em’s work trash. Revival is just as whack as his last two albums. Long time Eminem fan here, I've grown up listening to all of his albums since Jr High School (I'm 34 now) and I grew up in the generation of Biggy/Pac/Outkast/Nelly/Nas/BoneThugs/etc, BUT that aside... I COMPLETELY AGREE and support what Budden is saying. I think it was honest criticism, and I think he was speaking what most of the masses thought, but it might've come across a bit harsh-- BECAUSE I think there are good artistic elements of Em's new album, there definitely are good things to say about the direction he went but all in all it didn't deliver what the fans wanted to hear. In a nutshell. Joe shouldn't be getting victimized for disagreeing. And moreso, what Em's been doing the last year lashing back at his fans and cutting his fan base in half based on who they might have voted for (in an election with two absolute trash candidates-- damned if you do, damned if you don't lol...tbh), for someone like Eminem who's been all about free speech and saying whatever the fuck he wants the fact that he's going after fans who disagree is fuckin borderline Marxist mentality, wtf is that...

Clearly you ddnt hear royce said that Em only let him listen to the album 4days before it's release. You think his opinion wouldve matter after all the effort em and shady have put out to promote the album? We dont know the backstory, maybe royce has already given his opinion to Em about the album but Em might've said "fvck that, it's here now we cant pull it out and just make a new one". Might've let Em think twice though but still went on releasing the album and at the end of shady firechat Em said that a lot of ppl will not like this album, so he already expected the backlash maybe after hearing the backlash even before the album was out. Clearly Joe influenced a lot of his viewers on ES and the podcast with cthagod to not give the album a chance and keep hate on Em.

Peyt Calanza I heard that shit Royce said, talking bout walking egg shells around each others music, which like Joe said that just sounds like sugar coating to me. Also it's clear to me that Royce or anyone else in em's camp didn't really voice a strong opinion against the album because when the album was released, it seemed like he was surprised by the backlash. remember he released that chloraseptic remix taking shots at all that people who didn't like the album. I get what you saying bout Joe influencing his viewers but it was already a growing sentiment that the tracklist looked bad and the album was gonna be trash way before joe said anything bout it. like he said he tried for the longest to avoid the em topic on his show.

T-dot did you read what I wrote? Royce heard the album 4 days before it's release so there's no way he couldve made a difference what Em have on the album. why question royce's friendship to Em if you heard that Em let royce hear the album before it's release? we dont even know what's his take on the album cause he might've already told Em privately out in the prying eyes and ears of the public who can easily twist words. Growing sentiment abt the tracklist yes but the song that he trashed and shitted on, his reaction and opinion to that made a huge impact on how the album was perceived by his viewers too. He just gave those ppl more reason to hate Em and again not to give the tracks a listen. I would have to disagree with you I love the album content is there I get why it doesnt have the same energy he has on the remix, you know what I mean if you really listened to the shady firechat where royce said those lines above. Your friends never 'sugar coat' on the podcast, ever! Yet artists should do it around each other? Cummon son, "respect the craft" is the new Curve... in the music industry.

In short, no he wasn’t disloyal. I love Nickel, I don’t love his perspective on this particular issue. It’s just a difference of opinion tho. Joe’s approach won’t be Royce’s or anyone’s else’s. But if Joe is entitled to his opinion, why can’t he just have it? Especially as it relates to hip hop? He still hasn’t judged Em’s album. The rollout with the Trump diss whiffed and the album was poorly received. Joe called that spade exactly what it was. There was no diss from Joe.

year late, but Joe has said that he isn't a Eminem stan. No sane person who has reviewed and experienced music for as long as Joe would ever Stan someone anyway. He has said that Stan mentality is such bullshit. You could ask any person who is relevant within reviewing music/artists/albums this question: Is Stan mentality toxic? All of them will probably say yes, it is obsessive and borderline creepy. Anyone who genuinely Stans an artist or a celebrity is, to sugarcoat it, on the wrong track.

It's like having someone recruit you to a football team and years later you trash your former teammate's game. Loyalty differs from context and it is not written down as a rule. You should have beeen smarter than that, Joe.

I say this out of respect for you Joe. It seems difficult for people around you to be 100% honest about stuff that you seemingly want them to be honest about, when they ironically are walking eggshells around you. Your attitude is entertaining but also seems intimidating to most of the people around you. This is what made the dynamic between you and Akademiks perfect for a hip hop show, as he didn't let your attitude stop him from being completely honest. Even when you were almost biting off his head.

How is saying this is the most Trash song or tracklist you ever heard or seen, How is that not Disrespectful? I don't know if Joe & em were friends, but they weren't enemies, The Fact he was signed to shady means he owed Eminem at least a constructive critique not a bashing. Its easy to see why someone sees him as disloyal, so since you retired & you don't need a verse or anything from him, It ok to Publicly bash him by calling it the worst roll out ever? Its a way to say you don't like something without going in like joe did. If You didn't like it & just gave it praise, then that would be sugar coating, but the fact yall had a relationship, He deserved better from joe.
