My parents had one briefly when I was a kid. We have done the typical progression: tent (4yrs), Coleman pop-up (for 12 yrs), Jayco hybrid (3yrs) and Transcend Xplor for little over a year. Each was perfect for our needs at the time. We loved our pop-up and if the both of us (us and the pop-up) hadn't gotten old, broken down and cranky 😃 , & if we didn't need an in camper bathroom for the middle of the night, weight still have it. They are great for a young family and actually comfortably sleep as many adults as my current 31' Travel Trailer.

I purchased a RockWood HW277 about 8 months ago and love it. It has all the bells and whistles of a full size RV. If you are looking for a full size RV but don’t want the wind blowing you around while driving down the road it is worth looking into. Weights 3300lbs and I tow it with. Toyota Tacoma.

Just a quick note, that popup and others I'm seeing in the background have the campside "wall" removed just for the purposes of the RV show. There is normally a wall there with the door installed.

Started with a Hybrid 24 ft with 3 pop outs for a family. Eventually moved to a tent trailer and enjoyed less stress towing it ...traveled much further distances. Just got back from a 3000 mile trip from the states up into the Canadian Rockies...Banff, Jasper. I'm happy with a tent trailer vs. a travel trailer. I like to feel more connected to nature when camping. We typically stay at sites with flush toilets and often showers. We mix in stays at hotels too when needed on road trips. We do miss the private toilet on the RV, but overall like the tent trailer experience.

Started out in the 70’s with a pop-up camper, had three of them! They were a lot of fun and even with two small kids we always had fun in it. Of course now that we’re older, we are those people that we laughed at back then! Currently in a 32 foot A with two A/C’s and a Generator and outside TV! Lolololol!

My father worked for Apache campers for 20 years. I grew up in a popup. We had one to use every summer. Although Apache was a hard side popup. Only ones ever made. This makes me want one.

I love hearing that ! I have a 70.. something Apache Roamer. Sadly it needs EVERYTHING ! We had a 78 Romada that was in perfect condition. We absolutely love them ! I wish they still made them.

Love seeing a pop up on the channel. I have a 2001 keystone pop up similar floor plan but twin axle. My Odyssey pulled it ok but it was not a comfortable towing experience. It is so much nicer pulling it with a 1/2 ton truck. I hardly know it’s behind me.

They're great for families with kids, out of the elements when you need to be, and sleep in comfort at night. HOA friendly due to the fact they fit into a garage, and easy to tow.

Rockwood Popup has THE BEST bed support design. The metal bars are placed first and then the bed slides out on top. Never have to put your shoulder under the bed to install the metal struts. The High wall series is even better. Having owned a a Starcraft...Rockwood is leaps and bounds better with their pop ups.

My parents had a pop up camper when we were kids. We bought a used one when our kids were younger (now adults). We bought a Class C 4 years ago, sold it the next year and bought the new Travel Trailer we have now…occasionally our kids come ❤

My parents had a Coleman when we grew up and we had a large Coleman Fleetwood for our family similar layout as this one with AC so we could anywhere in the summer. Loved it. We graduated to a Rockwood Roo hybred. Nothing bad to say about the popup. Low cost, low maintenance, easy to pull with many different vehicles.

We had a Starcraft pop up when I was about 10. And yes, we pulled it with a station wagon. My father installed a toilet (we weren't allowed to use it) and we would cook outside on a Coleman stove. We used it for a year or two, then it was traded in for a regular trailer, which my children grew up in.

We looked at one like this but we got an Aframe trailer as we don’t have to deal with fabric. But I have stayed in a tent trailer it was very comfortable better than tenting!

Parents had a starcraft popup that we used for many years. I grew up and bought my own travel trailer gulf stream 189 DD, from there went to a sabre 38DBQ. Pop up's got me in to the camping world.

I started with an older model of pop-up with nearly an identical layout of the one shown. It was a great little camper. We moved up to a bumper pull because the wife had a difficult time opening up the pop-up for trip prep while I was away working out of town during the week.

we had a 2015 Forest River with the same floorplan and really enjoyed it. Towed great with 2011 Town and Country minivan, only modified with SumoSprings. No serious issues, only the toilet electric pump (~$50, replaced myself in 30mins).

They are fun to camp in and a lot of room! I sold my old Pop camper and a new Flagstaff. The cord is for your air conditioning to mount on top of your roof.

Wow, tent trailers and foldables. Tbh it's not something covered a lot on good channels like this. Kind of neat to see them covered, especially with people looking for light and more aero options for smaller vehicles and fuel economy. My family growing up in the 90's had a Flagstaff. Was nice, some extra steps to remember and care for with them, but affordable and had memorable trips with it. Nice review :D

We've had many different units over the past 35 years. At one point we were tent campers which made perfect sense to me because I grew up camping in tents almost every weekend. When I started dating my wife we also tent camped. She grew up camping in trailers with her family so that didn't last long. She brought so many electronic things we always needed electric hook up and it seemed kind of silly running all that in the tent. Our first real camper was a 1976 Layton. It was a wreck with a rotted floor but I knew that when I bought it and that's why I bought it cheap. Since it was a stick and tin unit I was able to repair it and it was pretty nice when I was done, especially when I added air conditioning. Our next camper was an old Coachman with a rotted floor as well, but since we had kids a bunkhouse was definitely something we were looking to buy. I added an air conditioner to that one and fixed the floor and we got good service out of it. We also sold it at a pretty good profit. Since that time we have owned fiberglass trailers and fiberglass toy haulers and after many years we are now back to a 30-ft stiick and tin Jayco. I found that fiberglass trailers leak just like everything else and repairing delamination is next to impossible and forget about repairing a laminated floor. The only camper I've ever owned that we never had a single problem with was a Holiday Rambler alumalight. By far that was the best crafted trailer with an aluminum cage and riveted aluminum siding. We never had a leak with that one but then we stopped camping for a while. We got back into camping about 6 years ago with a fiberglass trailer and then a toy hauler and then another fiberglass trailer. After many different issues we are now back to a stick and tin brand new Jayco. If it fits our needs and to me it still makes sense.after owning many trailers. If I have a problem it can be fixed relatively easily. I will never switch back and the decision is made a lot more simple because the interiors are now on par with premium fiberglass units. So after too much writing a pop-up is a great choice for some people. But coming from tent camping. It made no sense for us, especially after seeing what a heavy storm can do to some of those pop-up campers. Sorry for the novel lol and thanks for another great review

I've had a popup camper for 10 years. Living in a condo You're very limited on the size of unit you can store. Benefits don't have to winterize, it's protected from the elements year-round, and the biggest benefit is I can roll it in and out of my parking stall to hook up and move.

The trailer has "limit switch" settings for the UP motion AND down motion. You don't have to depend on watching the "green wire". When lowering the roof, the down limit switch will turn off the motor when the roof comes down all the way AND keeps slight tension on the wire when adjusted correctly. Therefore, when raising the roof, the motor stops AUTOMATICALLY, even if you continue to hold the switch in up position! And the same thing when lowering the roof. The motor stops AUTOMATICALLY when lowering the roof, even if you continue to keep the switch pushed down! The adjustment screws are under the cover that holds the up-down switch!

They need to build that with a deck I can get my 9foot ranger on. I'd buy it. I'm sure my buddy had a model similar layout diff brand and it had hard flip up sides for the shower which I really liked. We went to a small travel trailer to popup which I realized wasn't for us, then to a 21foot camplight then to a tent. Now looking for something that's not a lot invested but can haul my sxs.

If you are looking for unique, you should look for and tour a Trailmanor! They are like transformers - light and a hard side pop up with loads of features!

I really like the idea of a pop up, but much rather have something like that (in the video) but in a hard side. Most pop ups i have seen has had a cassette toilet, not what i want either.

So this RV show is now in Dallas Texas at the market Hall center. I spent all day looking at everything from class a motor coaches to fifth wheels. Got to say I’m pretty impressed with what the manufacturers are doing these days.

Beware of Forest River/Rockwood/Flagstaff models. Mine had serious manufacturing defects which they admitted to, towed the camper back to the factory, then proceeded to return it to me severely damaged. They've agreed to fix the easy, cheap stuff but not the expensive, important stuff. If you think I'm just one disgruntled customer, take a look at the Better Business Bureau's Forest River page - 1 star out of 5. If I can help just one person not go through the months long agony and financial hardship I have, it will be enough. Thanks for reading.

Can you pass on to Manufacturers - For the love of god add MSRP for the models on their websites. I (and however many people are like me) am NOT going to SEPERATELY RESEARCH EVERY Unit I am initially interested in to determine Price Range. Just like autos, I understand dealer pricing will very but we can at least determine if a particular model is in the realm of our (buyers) price range. ie, I immediately know the Acme 900 XLTFY is outside my price range and need to focus on the 900XLTgp or drop down to the 800 model line. RV manufacturers NOT supplying MSRP, or even a MSRP price range, is ANNOYING (can you tell? lol) and also NOT worth WASTING my time looking at their model lines. *NOTE* - yes I saw the price in the video, I am NOT talking about your videos, I went to Rockwood/Forest River website and that is where I got aggravated.. because I had no idea what is in my price range and what is not, so how could I compare models without SEPERATELY researching EVERY Model that looks interesting?

Had one years ago. They are not energy efficient from a heating & cooling perspective at all. It will keep you off the ground but that's about it in my opinion.
