@@staypositive4358 Since you are learning for travelling, it would be great if you think about which countries will you travel in the future? If they are Russia, Ukraine, Poland, etc slavic countries of course you should learn Russian, but if you really love the Turkish history and culture, you should learn Turkish. Also, if you learn Turkish you can travel Azerbaijan as well since 99% people speak Turkish fluently. Also, in Uzbekistan,Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan few people know Turkish. Turkmenistan people will also understand you since it is also a branch of turkic languages. One important thing is to consider your own native language. Where are you from?

@@lifefan1 . Hi, thank you so much for the reply. I want to visit most of those countries including Ukraine, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. The main difference, right now, is that Turkey seems the most interesting and the one country that I think I would likely visit most often. I've seen travel videos about Turkey that are truly mind blowing. Everything from the prayers (I'm not Muslim though), history, culture, cities, markets, etc... It seems like an extraordinary country to visit. I think the northern countries seem amazing as well but I'm not sure how often I would want to visit as they feel more like a checkmark I want to have. I want to see Kiev, St. Petersburg, Volgograd (Stalingrad), Moscow and maybe some of the countryside areas. That said, I think Russian is a beautiful language and I would love to learn it but realistically I can only learn one language at a time and there is a limit to how much time I can dedicate to learning languages. I don't know anyone Russian or Turkish so this is something that I'm doing on my own. My first language is English but I'm also native in Spanish and I'm currently learning Italian (about a B2 level). Either Russian or Turkish will likely be hard for me to learn which is the reason I only want to learn one of them. Down the road, I want to make time to learn French which shouldn't be too hard considering my background. Please share any additional advice and thank you so much for the reply!!
