The reason Easton isnt higher is because blacks dont report crime as much as other groups. They have an anti-police bias. Plus just exhaustion. If everyday there is crime, it becomes a normal part of life, not worth reporting.

Thanks for the video 🙂...... You wont believe this !!!! . Way back in 1996 i got lost (Mechanics had farewell party in Keynsham Football Club) . Saturday night at just around midnight. . Wanted to buy some chips..... crowd in shop and across the junction saw a orange sign "Chinese Food and English Meals to Takeaway" . (GET THIS)............. the moment i stepped through the door ......... my life was reinstated as almost every memory came flooding back.............. and the smiling Chinese man motioned to his wife and i asked for sausage and chips and a can of tango . (i thought WOW ....... so they are not all deaf over here) lol . The moment i got to my home town on the M4 .............. i felt the oppression traveling up my legs and the neck pains started that were driving me mad . I live in Fishponds so have to go through Easton and Stapleton Road to get back from the town centre. I often walk rather than getting the bus. Never had any problems. Like St Pauls and Barton hill I think it's reputation is because it's a mostly black and muslim area. I think a lot of people feel threatened by that. I'm white and I don't feel threatened at all in those areas. Hartcliffe and Knowle, which are the "white trash" parts of the city, are a different story. I avoid them like the plague because of having things happen like kids throwing bricks at me, and a guy setting his dog on me for no reason.

My view is those houses should have British families living in them not immigrants.. We've had a chronic housing shortage in the UK long before mass immigration.. There are no homes for British people.. They are giving them all to immigrants while British people are left living and dying on our streets... Many people living in caravans in Bristol have jobs and own vehicles but still cannot live in a house because Bristol City Council exclusively earmarks council houses for immigrants..

Great video! Sadly, BCC is one of the worst councils, I came acros in the UK when it comes tp addressing inequalities and managing urban infrastructure. Despite their shiny policies and empty claims, the reality is that city is divided into areas where some level of management and upkeep exist (mostly Cotham, Clifton and Harbourside ) and the rest of the city is in a staggering state of decay. Lack of decent public transport, poor lightining, potholes, pavements suitable for trekking shoes, flooding after every rain, rubbish piling up, crime, filth and rodents.

It’s because they pissed all the money on Cabbot Circus and now can’t maintain it and they keep messing with the roads because they fucked it the first time. They didn’t realise that Bristol was a big place for events and that was the backbone of its revenue. They thought they could replace it with revenue from high end retail in a city where most of the people looked like greenpeace mercenaries. Now they’re gone, so is the money because they weren’t as poor as they looked and bought people from all over the country with the events they used to put on which got the big £ coming in. People don’t shop in the same place for long. They here about a new place, flock to it and then move to the next one. Night life is a far more sustainable economic model as proven by Bristol. Martin Rees destroyed the city by choking the life out of it.

I have returned to UK 22 times over the last 30 years and I am literally devastated as to how it has changed. Is it caused more by the British people living there or is it made worse by illegals coming in and immigrants? I do not know but I am sad. Well, also sad is I have had a gun in my possession for 22 years and have never run across a violent situation since moving here (lucky!) but enough is enough. This is revolting, disgusting and pitiful and I am sorry people are suffering with this kind of crap close to where they are living.

I think it's a mixture of things including Tory Government and capitalism. People can't afford stable housing. Rent or buy. Immigration forces rent prices up and keeps wages low. Drugs gangs and addiction are a huge factor. The breakdown of the family unit too. Changing values and standards.. This is true of nearly anywhere in the UK. though. It's a depressing rat race for many. Once the boomer generation die out who knows.
@tinachristine457311 ай бұрын
Mate, no one will ever draw a gun on you in the UK. That's like crazy organised crime stuff. Here you'll get low level smash and grab kind of property crime eg car or house break ins, maybe witnessing a drug deal in progress, antisocial behaviour like loitering, street graffiti, damage to abandoned property, throwing litter around, drunken Street fights, and gang members stabbing each other in London. The UK may look less pretty compared to the US but I can go to Stapleton at night and get out of my car to go to a shop or a pharmacy (which I have done many times) and yet I can't think of going to downtown L.A. during the day in a car. Most 'illegals' here in the UK actually have an incentive not to engage in criminal activity. If they live here without breaking any laws for 10 years, they have a right to residency. So, Janet honey, don't equate being foreign with being a criminal. And all of our ancestors at one point were foreigners in the lands we now call home. Be humble.
@Silent00211 ай бұрын
Well, according to the ONS, there was a net migration of 2 million people into the UK between 2011 and 2021 and 6.8 million births, therefore it's 3.4 times more likely the issue is with British people rather than immigrants. I know that's a simplification since 1-year-olds ain't going to be breaking into cars and that we should be comparing the births from 1991-2001 to immigration between 2011-2021 instead, but that's skipping over the real issue in the UK - the gap between the richest and the poorest is getting wildly out of control. Since 1970, income share for the top 10% has ballooned whilst income for the bottom 50% has reduced or remained stagnant, all while living costs in the past 30 years have risen. So you've got people unable to make a decent living going straight and more people on the upper end looking like larger targets than ever, it's not really that surprising that some people have decided to take back what society has leached from them. It's easier for most older people to blame the anonymous brown man that just walked into town rather than the government, though 🤷♂.

Most steal to live I blame the government. People haven't got any hope, no inspiration to do better. Low wages, overcrowding houses, high tax on wages if you work overtime for extra money. Lack of education and degrees. It then shifts from one generation to another. It's dire!!

Aw, that's so damming! I live easton, it has so many qualities that other parts of the city do not. True re fly tipping, and the council does need to invest more money in cleaning the place. The bin men, leave rubbish all over too. More tlc in general. But MY Easton is safe, friendly, relaxed with many unique qualities. Including, rich cultural and coexistance, many green spaces, without having to drive, nice schools, great food shops etc etc

You have the most amazing speaking voice! It just adds to the quality of your videos which I find very interesting and entertaining. Really opening up my eyes to the conditions in so many of these UK towns. I knew some were bad areas but I had no idea there were so many. What’s sad is that you can tell with some of these housing estates that they were really nice when they were new and I’m sure the first people that lived there were really happy. But as you have said, the loss of the industrial jobs has really crippled so many parts of the UK, put on top of that the current financial situation for so many. the government really needs to get it in gear and at least keep the junk and trash picked up. They could employ entire groups of people, pay them a really good wage to go around and just clean.

The Bristol to Bath cycle path runs close to it. I cycled through Easton along Stapleton Road to Narrowways one Saturday morning at around 9 am, and it was dicey even then with road hogs in large expensive cars that I had to dodge. I found out later that they are owned and driven by big-time pinps and drug dealers. I didn't have a smart phone then, so I didn't have the Cycle Streets app to find a better route, only a street plan book.

10 years ago I heard the same thing so I went to see for myself. I walked down Stapleton road at about 10.30 pm and found most people to be absolutely fine and a few even quite polite. No problems whatsoever, I felt quite safe. St Pauls, I only had time during the day but felt equally safe. Braunston and Portland square were great. This was all about 10 years ago and my experiences so for others it may be different.

It still hasn't changed. I've popped to Stapleton at night for emergency meds for a child in a late night pharmacy and I'm a rather petite lady, was alone at night, and everyone was very unbothered and moved out of the way politely and respectfully when they noticed that I was a lone lady out at night. I did not feel watched, threatened or harassed at all. This is just people saying that they don't like seeing somali people out and about at night.

I live in Bristol and go through Stapleton road daily. Its got lots of great food places and is always busy. The place does struggle with litter/flytipping, homelessness and hard drug use. The flytipping is so frustrating, but it is something that will be done by people more desperate for money, perhaps more support can be given from local councils. The homelessness is quite a wide spread problem on this side of Bristol, stretching from the centre. All I see are some city center charities trying to help, but i think more support for these people is required on a city or regional level.

My cousins are proud Bristolians so I’ve seen a bit of the city (clearly, not all bad). However, they’ve told me the odd haunting story. A friend of theirs was walking back through an area like Easton and got randomly hit on the head with a sledgehammer. Had major PTSD afterwards. And less gravely when we went out to a local pub in St Paul’s, my cousin’s bike was stolen. I’m stunned at the house prices: it’s not far off Colchester where such houses are ensconced in bourgeois enclaves!

I live just round the corner and it's absolutely fine - in fact, I wouldn't live anywhere else. As another poster has said, the reputation of Easton and St Paul's is built mainly on racist assumptions dues to their ethnic make-up more than facts (which isn't to say there isn't crime, just that this video is rather sensationalist) - whiter areas of the city, such as Lawrence Weston and Hartcliffe are considerably less safe IMO (although even there it's overblown, and rather than race that's good old class prejudice at work). This video also ignores the fact that Easton is currently fighting a losing battle against gentrification and that a lot of the area surrounding Stapleton Road is now one of the biggest property hotspots in the entire country, which is infuriating for the locals trying to cling on in the face of spiralling rents and bidding wars they've got no hope of competing in, meaning a lot of the rougher element has actually already been driven out.

I can believe that Easton was dangerous in the 90s but this video is a massive exaggeration. I've lived in and around Easton four years and never felt unsafe or experienced anything dangerous. There are crimes but they seem to be almost all gang or drug related. If you're not involved in a gang, you'll absolutely safe. In fact I get less hassle from drug addicts around there, plus with it being the centre of a huge religious islamic community people are super friendly, warm and respectful to each other. Honestly anyone who feels threatened by being in Easton or St Pauls these days is either shit scared or racist. Some people have just never stepped out of there plush gentrified comfort zone of a neighbourhood and get freaked out when they see reality.

There was one time i came home from work and they had police taped off the entrance to my building cos someone got stabbed. And she told me the mechanics next door got raided for drug distribution.
