My new head canon is now that future trunks told the z fighters in the main timeline that the dragon balls were used before they could wish their friends back to life. Not necessarily that the pilaf gang was there, but just that the dragon balls were used before they could use them. Since then, bulma always makes it a point to have the dragon balls in her possession at all times.

My attempt: 1: Maybe the chamber was damaged or someone necessary for its function got killed, or he did, but hit the time limit, and with no one to train with he only got minimal gains, sorta like Trunks and Vegeta since they didn't spar together. 2: I think he had some difficulty locating new namek before? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but how did Pilaf gang even collect the dragon balls without a dragon radar, isn't that highly unlikely? After Vegeta died, why wouldn't Piccolo try to escape while the others tried to hold the Androids off, he knows the dragon balls are done if he dies, or Kami would of told him to escape asap. So for those in the comments going on about wishing Goku back, it was not possible. Goku died fighting Raditz and was revived before, the esrth dragon balls had a one revive per person rule by Kami so Goku would focus on getting stronger to protect what he charished most. Bulma never knew where new Namek was (a fan manga had her find it) and though it could be argued how the Guru clause worked for Namek, i dont think the same would work for this situation. That being said, I'd honestly love to see a whatif for goku surviving the heart virus and showing the androids up.

They didn't have the idea when Gohan was an adult. In the main timeline they made the wish roughly around the same time they did in the future timeline. The pilaf gang doesn't make an appearence in DBZ(except BoG and RF) and when seen in super they're already 7-8 years old.

Question, (and maybe it's obvious and I just forgot) but why couldn't they go to New Namek to revive the dragonballs after Trunks came back and took care of everything? I'm guessing maybe because without Goku they don't know New Namek's location and couldn't follow a ki signature? But maybe there's another reason

dragon ball cant revive people died of natural diseases. the rocket couldnt enter space because the moment it is launched, the android might shoot it down. even if they can wish back everyone, goku still cant be revived , so they will lose and die again

Why did they never go to Namek in the future timeline to use the namekian dragon balls? Popo had all the knowledge, he could of just showed bulma the spaceship like he did in the majn timeline. Bulma goes to namek so Trunks can stay back and protect the earth (This happens after trunks comes back to the future and destroys the androids and cell.) Everyone gets wished back to life, boom everything back to normal.

Unfortunately Bulma doesn't know where New Namak is at. They only found out where Namak was at in the present is because of Goku using Instant Transmission to find it in the present day.

@@dnw1987 Well true, but New Namak was beyond earth galaxy she it would of taken her decades to find it. Remember when Bulma, Gohan and Krillin went to the wrong planet and they thought it was namak and it wasn't they barely made it out without getting the ship stolen. Also why would she go in space alone and she didn't have anyone to accompany her. Trunks was inexperienced and they don't know the unknown dangers that lies in space so she wouldn't taken that chance.

Piccolo most likely fused with Kami to be the most challenging opponent for the Androids. Which is why he lasted longer than anyone else. His plan was probably to get Bulma to gather all the Dragon Balls and wish for a trip to New Namek to summon Porunga for the 3 additional wishes. First wish, revive everyone the Androids killed. Second wish, revive Goku. Third wish...???

You can't really blame Pilaf and his gang for this though, he was more along the lines of a Saturday cartoon villain, whenever he faced off against Goku and the gang, he could have won if he used sinister means, such as taking hostages or killing them while they were weak, such as when they caught Goku as he was hungry, but they just locked him up and his friends and then Goku saw the moon turned into an oozaru and wrecked their base, and then later Pilaf and his crew were taken advantage off of stronger and more sinister villains such as King Piccolo, so its why when he finally gets his hands on the dragon balls and is allowed for a wish, he just doesn't care about the circumstances or anything since he had just finally won playing fairly, but unfortunately that selfish wish cost the Earth everything, and if you ask me the people who had the most to blame were Bulma and the Z-Fighters, because the first thing is that they didn't safe guard the dragon balls, after basically knowing that every time the Earth has been in danger is because someone came to Earth while searching for the balls, or for example it was someone on Earth itself like Red the commander for the Red Ribbon army, that wanted to use the balls for themselves, so like Goku did in GT they all should have become guardians of the balls, or if Kami and Mr. Popo were actually smart, they would have locked the balls up somewhere like the room of spirit and time, where time flows differently and not everyone is aware of the location, and heck who knows if due to the fact that its in another dimension, if things like radars and stuff will no longer work, since the original Dragon Ball there were times when not even Bulma's radar would detect some of the balls, because they were hidden somewhere by people that had collected a ball or two, and actually now that I think about it more, if it takes a whole year for the balls to recharge, they are actually very dumb for not picking up the balls as they fly up in the sky, because even if they turned to stone, they could just store them in the room of spirit and time and then only have to wait like a day or two on Earth before they can use them again, since it would have been a year or more while inside the chamber, because if I remember correctly, the reason why Bulma can't collect the balls while they are recharging is because they don't emit sufficient energy to be detectable by a radar, so at least by that point it makes sense, but considering that most of the Z-Fighters can move at ridiculous speeds and fly, it makes no sense why they wouldn't just intercept the balls when they fly off.
