Thrust Reversers have been around for decades. I know, I machined many parts for these working in Aerospace as a Machinist as early as 1980. Look up the Pratt Whitney Thrust Reverser....

Thank you. But saw a statement that left-hand thrust reverser in the air led to the crash of Lauda Air flight 004 in 1991. Commercial aircraft cannot deploy their thrust reversers in flight as a safety precaution, but no idea on ground.

Boeing and Airbus are extensively used in India, Air crafts are being tugged to runway. Jet planes may have reverse flow function but having met accidents the function in commercial flight is limited to slow down while landing.
