Hi, thanks for getting in touch. I guess it should be available from Mercedes only so your best bit is to call your local Mercedes dealer and ask for spare wheel, also you’ll need a jack and wheel brace. Thanks 🙏🏽

What is the point of this? If you can't fit a full size wheel in the spare wheel well then where will you put the damaged tyre? in the boot with your luggage or on the passenger's lap? Seems like the solution to a non existent problem, Just carry a proper spare.

Twig I would lower my back seats and leave it there until got a new tyre fitted . The spare wheel is only temporary . So as soon as I replaced the damaged one, I’d deflate the spare one and put it back . I’d have it sorted within a day or two anyways It’s a space saver

Real cool. But nothing on the tire or in the compartment says the tire requires inflating before use. Both my spouse and I thought it was a new-fangled run-flat and drove on it right out of the compartment. No way of knowing until it shredded. Now I have to get a new one.

I am old but what`s wrong with the old fashioned spare wheel well to fit all wheels, or the wrack to hold the wheel under the fuel tank. And any of the two above would be cheaper to make than a smaller wheel and an expensive tyre, and it would take longer to change than an ordinary wheel.

This is not new. When I worked at a Chrysler dealership back in the 80`s, some of the cars had this type of spare tire. It came with a canister of compressed air that you would screw onto the valve stem to inflate it.

However, what we see is that we do not even have a space for a spare tire. Also, the compressor could also malfunction which creates additional friction, haha. But they found a way to escape though.

I had one of those tyres on a UK spec Porsche 911 in the early 80's; it had a Porsche factory sticker on it stating that it was not approved to use in the UK! An electric pump was part of the std tool kit. 35 years on they must have got approval.

What they did was to exclude the spare wheel from the MOT test. It's no longer a test item but if you had a flat and used the spacesaver on the way to get your MOT it would fail the test.

2018 Mercedes has runflat Tyres so that’s why it hasn’t got a spare wheel but you should have space in the back to put one in.

Ironically it solves a problem that i have with my old mercedes r107, normal size spare requires a hump in the boot floor to make room for it but with this tire i can have a flat boot floor and a "normal" spare tire bye gooo!!!

Alot of earlier Mercedes has these, they give you a digital inflater with the car that hooks up to the car, it's really stupid. It causes another headache - so if you have a flat you need to inflate your spare before you install it, great way to add another useless step to waste time Mercedes....classic germans.
