Peter and Tim used sing together in another a cappella vocal group years ago. Peter is a master of layering vioces. The choral choir background sounds was approx 120 layers of Tim and Peter voices. Peter and Tim have done over 12 collaborations. Some of them are Sound of Silence, Teach your Children,Blackbird, Greensleeves, Bridge over trouble water, Sunshine on my Shoulders plus others you could check out. This is my favorite version of this song. The contrast in voices is beautiful. Peter in the higher tenor ranges & then paired with the true natural bass voice of Tim. And that last dragon's breath note is truly remarkable & how long he sustains it. Peter & Tim have collaborated on quite a few other songs & they are all beautiful. Peter is a master at layering voices. Check out "Sound Of Silence", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Greensleeves", "Fire & Rain", "Teach Your Children", "Sunshine On My Shoulders", "You Can Close Your Eyes", "And So It Goes" & "Blackbird".

Oddly, Peter can hit almost the notes as Tim. He just can't sustain them for 15 seconds. And we all know how high Tim can go. It's why the a capella world does whatever they feel like doing.
@johndeeregreen45922 жыл бұрын
Peter is actually more of a baritone, who has a major tenor extension and can go low, too. Insanely complex, versatile voice.

Peter and Chance met each other on Season two of The Sing-Off. Peter had formed sn acapella group at the University of Washington that competed. Chance was the bass of Street Corner Symphony which was first runner up. Chance had been a last moment replacement for the group. Street Corner Symphony had lost their bass just after they had qualified to be on The Sing-Off. They first contacted Tim Foust to replace their bass. At the time, Tim had decided not to pursue a music career, especially acapella. He turned down their offer to perform on national TV. Adam was recruited to be the group's bass by one of the members that he had gone to college with. They had evidently taken chorus together. It was through Tim's refusal that Chance was introduced to the acapella world The acapella world has lot of connections due to it being small with a culture of cooperation despite the different competitions. The lack of rivalry among the groups was a disappointment to the producers of The Sing-Off despite it being s competition. The producers wanted more conflict and tried to encourage it to make the show.ore dramatic. However, their efforts mainly failed despite their editing or prepared situations.

Hiya Rosalie! Yes, this was all just Peter and Tim in layers. Recorded and taped a thousand miles apart (Peter in Oregon, Tim in Grand Cayman). Incredible! 💗🙂I've been following Peter Hollens for years and years (longer than I've been following Home Free actually). Peter and Tim (along with most of the rest of the a Capella community here on KZbin) are long standing friends and have worked together over and over again. Peter's strong classical background and amazing musical arrangement talent serves us all extremely well with all of his music, often presented in over 100 vocal layers. Another huge trove of fantastic music available on his channel, from dark classics like this one, to pop, to Christmas, to folk, to Disney, to Broadway, and more covers and originals. Welcome to the musical a Capella world of Peter Hollens! 🥰 Hugs, my friend! xo 🤗✨

Peter will sometimes use over 100 tracks/layers at a time when putting together a song. I am amazed at what he is able to produce. You asked if it was him singing the high notes and the answer is "yes". Both Peter and Tim have fantastic multi-register ranges. Tim and Peter have also collaborated and a number of other songs (Bridge over Troubled Water; Fire & Rain; Blackbird) that are well heard. I encourage you to check out more of Peter's work and also Tim's solo work where he will layer his voice to do a whole chorus similar to what they did here. Great reaction! I love your reactions!!!! - Fun fact about this video - Tim and Peter go back a long way, being in another a cappella group years ago. This video was done in two separate locations. Tim was in the Cayman Islands and Peter was in Oregon and they shot this on the same day. They have a ton of songs together on your tube and even released an album or two. Peter is a one-person a capella singer who layers his voice over and over (I think he layered his voice about 120 times for this video and Tim did several layers of his voice too). Listen to some of their other songs, you won't be disappointed. Peters has done several with the entire Home Free Group as well
@ForeverDegenerate3 ай бұрын
@Rosalie Elliott I know this video is a year old, but I just ran across it now. You asked if Peter was the one on the Whistle Note. Some of your viewers said it was. That is incorrect. That high Whistle Note is actually his wife, Evynne Hollens (who also has a KZbin Channel and sings covers, if you're interested, just search for her name). Peter DID try to sing the note. And he CAN hit the note, and, in fact, DID hit the note. But he didn't like how he sounded. Then he remembered Evynne can hit that note and actually sound good so he just asked her to do it and, being the loving wife that she is, she said "yes." Other than that one Whistle Note, all the other High Harmonies were, in fact, Peter himself. He's got a RIDICULOUS range.

It's much better as a song than it ever was as a prayer. 2 - "Greensleeves" Peter Hollens and Tim Foust sing this song you're probably familiar with (the ice cream man plays it as he drives around). 3 - "Danny Boy" Peter Hollens sings the most impactful rendition of this song that I've ever heard. I can't recommend this one highly enough!
