This game is truly following in Telltales footsteps in the sense that none of your choices actually matter and they all lead to the same outcome. Also I don't understand the logic of the two girls. They want to steal this kids truck (which is dumb in it of itself cause they can all fit in that truck together) but they shoot the wheels of the truck rendering it useless???? It's just pointless conflict for the sake of it

The developer has already responded to questions regarding decisions and how they'll be handled. This beginning is mostly just setup leading to the two boys meeting, hence why the decisions don't do much except allow you to shape the type of individual your character is. As for specifically why they shoot the tire, at that point it is easily the best decision. They have experience working in a repair/work shop, I'd assume they'd rather have the slim hope of repairing the vehicle/replacing the tire then the guarantee that the Nocturnal will get them. I'm also assuming they are blinded by rage, at this point they want the kid dead and even if it serves them no benefit at least the kid isn't driving away into the sunset anymore. A fucked up vehicle could be salvageable, no vehicle means being hopeless while they wait for their death from the Nocturnal.
