It's really a long river of history, we just caught a few drops of water. Thank you for being willing to learn about this ancient country.

Guangzhou also has a large park called "Yuexiu Park," which has very beautiful scenery. I introduced it to you, but you just ate a few things on the street and left, so everyone couldn’t see anything about Guangzhou in your video. In fact, every city in China has many such beautiful parks, lush with green trees and clear waters. If you understand China, you wouldn’t be surprised. The Chinese government not only ensures that people have enough to eat but also aims for a good quality of life. That’s why every city allocates large areas of land for citizens to have recreational spaces. In the parks, you can see young people reading, elderly people practicing Tai Chi, and children playing and chasing each other. There aren’t many governments in the world that are as good as this, and the Chinese government is one of them!

Guangzhou is a busy bustling commerce and shopping city, I wouldn't waste too much time in it. I lived there at Up Down Nine Road so I know Guangzhou too well. Plenty of food options in Guangzhou, other than that it is a boring city.

@@Anonymous------Not really. Guangzhou was the capital of Nanyue Kingdom founded by Qin Dynasty general Zhao Tuo, who also founded the Zhao Dynasty (Trieu Dynasty) of Vietnam, beginning the 1000 year rule over Vietnam. Guangzhou is not just commercialised as a first tiered city, it has a long history. Did you visit the Nanyue King Mausoleum (the mausoleum of the successor and grandson of General and King Zhao Tuo)? Did you visit two of the world’s oldest mosques, Xianxian Mosque and Huaisheng Mosque built around 620AD right after the founding of Islam? Did you visit the Temple of Six Banyan Trees which was built in 537AD during the Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasty? People from Guangdong, especially Cantonese around Guangzhou, tend to have a more cold and aloof personality. They don't have any special feelings towards foreigners. If you’re a foreigner in northern cities of China, you’ll often get noticed, and many people will come up to chat with you and ask to take pictures. However, Guangdong people see foreigners as just regular people, so they don’t feel the need to treat you any differently. Of course, they don't treat you poorly either; they just view you as an ordinary person. If you encounter many people asking to take pictures in China, they are definitely not from Cantonese but rather from northern provinces. This is why many foreigners dislike Guangzhou, as no one treats them as superstars. Consequently, they tend to have a better impression of people from northern China and aren’t interested in learning about Guangzhou.
@Anonymous------3 ай бұрын
@@LH1xx You're correct. Cantonese know about foreigners too well, they have long history of encountering foreigners because the opium wars and most of the foreign invasions of China happened in Cantonese regions, this is one of the reasons they aren't surprised by foreigners.

I was born in Guangzhou and my husband’s ancestral home is in Zhejiang province. Yiwu to be specific. He also graduated with a PhD from Zhejiang University, so when we went back to China a few years ago visiting his hometown as well as the capital city of Zhejiang province, Hangzhou, he introduced me to some signature dishes such as West Lake vinegar fish 西湖醋鱼. Honestly, Cantonese tastebud of mine likes the Jiang(su)-Zhe(jiang) regional cuisine, as they are similar to the light flavors of Cantonese cuisine. For Sichuan people or Dongbei (Northeast China) people where food are heavily spicy and salty, Cantonese or Jiang-Zhe cuisine may be too bland, but for us who grew up eating original flavored Cantonese cuisine, we actually find Sichuan culinary style too numb and spicy. I hope you can visit the Leifeng Tower near West Lake and Zhejiang University, which is like an Ivy League university in China, and also Hengdian Movie Studios where they make movies like Mulan and many Chinese historical dramas. Greetings from Los Angeles. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉

Hi! As someone who has lived in Hangzhou for many years, I would recommend trying the food at 新白鹿 or 绿茶. The food there is good. However, be cautious with random restaurants on the streets, as they may not taste as good as those in other Chinese cities. Also, the West Lake at night is really pretty. Near the lake, the dim lights, swaying leaves, and distant mountains covered with glints can give a really dreamy vibe. 😉

In fact, people do not think that Hangzhou's food is bad, but specifically that Hangzhou's representative food is less than other cities. It is also the case that the appearance of Hangzhou cuisine in many Chinese poems has raised people's expectations and is obviously not as delicious as described. By the way, the pagoda you see in the park that seems to move is the pinnacle of Baochu Pagoda, which was replaced during maintenance in 1997.

Go further west along the trail to a small rocky hill called” GeLing”where you have the unblocked views of the city, mountains and the lake! The rocky hill was named after one earliest chemist in human history( AD 400). Hangzhou and west lake is full of stories and some famous people in the stories were real people names as I stumbled at a tomb of a famous Marshall artist Wu Song. He was a popular figure in a Chinese classical novel. I thought it was a fictional fugue for until I saw his tomb on the hillside.

Young influencers on social media have no interest in non-spicy foods, so Jiangnan food in general don't trend online. There's over 2000 years of history with Hangzhou cuisine, but what young person's going to order stirfried shrimp with longjing tea leaves? It's not for the young people who'd rather be on the street eating mala crawfish tails and instant ramen.

Naomi, the pagoda is called 保俶塔( Bao Shu Ta). The iron structural components you saw at 7:11 was the original components standing on the top of the agoda. After hundreds year, the iron structural components have been eroded by the wind and rain. Some small pieces fell down. Avoiding anyone would be hurt, it has been taken down and replaced a new one during maintence in 1996. Then the original one was erected at the side that you can see.

10:52 This is the cultural difference. Because if the scenic area does not have signage, it is responsible, and in fact, it is also responsible for any accidents that may occur. It's not to stop you from doing things, but to clearly define the boundaries.But this boundary is only a reference, mainly to understand your own limits. Confucius said, 'Do as you please without exceeding the limits', which is the underlying idea.This is not easy, the freedom of young people is not true freedom.
