I would love to see you make a video essay series where you go through each song on one of his albums and break each song down in a vid. I just feel like I learn so much from you. Even if you heard the songs it’s more about the breakdown for me when I watch your vids than the reactions, plus it hits different anyways after everything. Kdot is so complex you get something new out of each listen anyway!

I've seen people be surprised by the scene with the cops carrying the car but all I can think about is how it's evident that in the US it's very important to structure society in a way that keeps the crime stats up. It's important continuous funding to police, law agencies, the prison system and for politicians who needs it for their arguments of more constraints on people's lives. When all systems in a society is based on profit, it creates a need to have a lot of areas with people that are underfunded and filled with poverty and almost no safety nets. Those areas will then generate more crime and thus feed the prison industrial complex. Everything is based on profit. That's why the US system as a whole don't aim for more equality and fair distribution of funds.

Love the breakdown, as always. Two things: 1) the ending reminds me of the mid-90s French movie “La Haine”, also shot in B&W, about police brutality and violence in the housing projects of Paris. Amazing film. Watch it if you can. There’s a story that keeps repeating throughout the film, with the line: “ce n’est pas la chute, c’est l’aterrissage” (it’s not the fall, it’s the landing”), with echoes of K.dot’s fall after being shot. 2) the line “painkillers only put me in a twilight” could also refer to the effects of opioid/opiate pain relief putting you in a twilight world of not quite being awake and feeling numb due to their effects. I was disabled in a car crash and was prescribed a lot of morphine for the pain; it made me feel almost in limbo between being awake and asleep, in a “twilight” between day and night, so I thought that may be the case here. Have a great day. Thanks from England xx
