Great channel Dr. Joe. I did not see week 1 & 2 but I would like to tell you that I reversed my t2d by (1) becoming vegan/veggie & (2) by practicing intermittent fasting. Dr Jason Fung stated in a vid, "think of your stomach as a sugar bowl. Every time you eat you fill it up. If you keep on eating it overflows." That statement was a game changer for me. Incidentally cutting out meat & (most) dairy has resulted in most of my arthritis disappearing. Thanks to your previous vid I am going shopping for moringa powder today. Good health to you & keep up the good work.

Hello Dr Joe. What can I say. You are really ‘spoiling us’. Great choices. My only issue is not using oil to fry the tomatoes before adding the beans (that’s how we do it back home) so I will just try without. Once again thank you very much for your fight against diabetes. Have a blessed weekend.
@drjoetvMD Жыл бұрын
Rose, why oh why do you need to fry tomatoes? Please tell me why. It's totally unnecessary. I was like that. You can change and you won't miss it. Listen, once you stop obsessing with fry this, fry that, you'll see transformation to your health. Cook your beans in the form a casserole. Add canned chopped tomatoes once the beans is cooked, add seasonings of your choice, add canned pilchards or canned mackerel, a little salt, stir together, leave alone for a couple of minutes and your tasty beans is ready. You don't need any oil. Change your ways if you want to get rid of diabetes and or high BP
@roseokai4163 Жыл бұрын
@@drjoetvMD it’s just old habits I find difficult to change, still doing it the way I know. I will stop using oil from today. I promise. I actually cooked some beans today without frying, and I only used chopped tomatoes and some seasoning and it was actually very tasty. Surprisingly I always cook lentils without oil. I will try what you suggested too. Thanks so much.

DR Gundry , famous cardiologist,, advocate drenching food with good olive oil. He said some healthy people use a liter of olive oil each week. Dr William Li likes olive oil also. It is confusing teachings. Besides , vegan MD's like Neal Barnard, Joel Furhman, Essentyls etc...who do not use oil, most other MD's teach that it is not fat that create heart problems or diabetes, but it is inflammation from sugar, grains, legumes,, Carbs ( even complex carbs), processed food that create inflammation which create diabetes, heart problems. So who is right, who is wrong? Thank you Dr.
@drjoetvMD Жыл бұрын
@@ThuLe-eh1xe You know something. On the internet, some doctors are here to profess a path that makes them money and they will stick to it because it is lucrative. Even better if the cause or path they preach is flavour of the month like Paleo, Keto, Carnivore etc. There's plenty of money to be made there because it is different and anti-authority. Now the question you want to ask yourself is, what is the healthiest way to resolve my problem be it diabetes or hypertension? Those diets I mentioned earlier will give you results in the short term and even the medium term and that's fine but I guarantee you that in the long term your health will fall apart using those diets. They are not safe. There is a reason some of the keto gurus are abandoning ship. One more question to ask yourself: did the person you are taking instructions suffer from the condition they profess to be teaching? There are nuances involved that only someone who has the condition can explain from experience. Next question: do they experience the same drawbacks the diet may throw at users? I've been telling people this. Keto and carnivore shoot up LDL cholesterol and those doctors come on KZbin to reassure people that dangerously high cholesterol level is fine so long as you have normal triglycerides. Atrocious advice. They should show you their blood results to see if they themselves are also living with such high cholesterol levels that they are reassuring their followers to ignore. Be careful who you take instructions from. That's all I'll say. The internet is free and you can follow anyone you like. They could charm the pants off you because they are handsome but always remember, some things have stood the test of time over and over again. The latest may be sexy but it may not be the best for your heart, your brain and your kidneys. Enough said!

@@drjoetvMD fat and sugar make me fat. That is the correct answer. If I gain weight, that is not healthy. Oil, butter, meat, sugar cause me chest pain. That is answer. Ok, Dr. Eat lot of vegetables , nuts, seeds, and some fruits, some beans. But I will indulge in meat and sweet once a week. 😁 Gee's , everybody is following the trend to make money. They influence the world with their degrees of doctors. Dr Gundry does not look healthy to me. All the nutritionists with whom I took class at the health food stores advocate to eat lot of eggs, beef, meat, saturated fat, coconut oil. They said fat does not make you fat. It is inflammation from carbs that cause problems. They eat 6 eggs a day! Even dieticians are taught that way because their schools are funded by pharmaceutical companies, by rich companies that make olive oil, grass fed beef, dairy... To tell you the truth, I ate grassfed beef and organic chicken, they smell so bad I had to throw away. They create toxin in my throat that I cannot breathe in the middle of the night. And grassfed milk smell and cause me stomach ache. I told my health teacher who eat grassfed beef and use one bottle of olive oil a week and she got mad at me. Thank you .

If you are struggling with fruits absence which I totally understand, you can bring them in now although it is still premature. The reason for the delay is I want the cells to become empty of fats (that makes you more tolerant of the sugar in fruits) before re-introducing the fruits. As for rice, they will come in at some point. Not yet. We are building this healthy anti-diabetic plate gradually. In week 3, now you have above-ground veggies and beans, peas and lentils with the fat out. We'll get there...gradually

Okay thanks so much... I actually watched the whole video...I was asking if its only the legumes and non starchy veggies that we should consume for week three or we can still eat our normal foods aside from the oils and unsaturated fats?
@drjoetvMD Жыл бұрын
@@ualphonsus I'm glad you got it. We are building a healthy plate gradually. There are more weeks to come. We will be adding more healthy foods to the plate. So you are not going to just have legumes and vegetables only. That said, you could reverse your diabetes on those two food groups to be honest once you take out the oil. But don't worry, there will be more to add and more to take away. I'm getting really excited about giving you folks the plan. I hope you are

Will there be a time following the reversal of T2D, where some fats/low carbs can be safely reintroduced, like olive oil? If reintroduced, will the diabetes return? Are there any vitamin supplements that should be avoided during this process?

I just went to see a dietician recently and was told that a full blown T2D only have a pancreas functioning less than 50%.Is there no longer anyway to heal the pancreas?
@drjoetvMD Жыл бұрын
That because your pancreas is plugged with fat. Get rid of the fat by getting rid of fats and oils from your diet and those cells will wake up again

The premise of my plan is to rid your muscle cells and liver cells of the fat inside them. That's why you are insulin resistant i.e diabetic. It's not carbs at fault. I know it's hard for you to believe that but it is the fact. It's the fat inside the cells, hence the cells won't accept the glucose from the foods you eat. Get the rid of the fat and the cells are happy again to receive glucose from the blood circulation. It's very simple. No gimmicks. Those foods you mentioned won't enable you get rid of the fat. That's it

What about nuts and avocado
@drjoetvMD4 ай бұрын
They are allowed in limited amounts unless we are still struggling after the initial 8 weeks in which case we may need to re-evaluate that but they are allowed in the beginning

Black beans, they even look like chocolate. Both of which I'm having trouble with after the MRI guided radiation treatments and proton pump inhibitors.

I have about ten cans of organic black beans in non BPA cans and maybe a half pound of cacao nibs left and I guarantee you both will eventually be eaten.

I drain the can of beans and rinse them off. Then I soak them for 40 minutes before adding them to my smoothie. The smoothie hides the taste and texture of the beans, which I don't really like.

I can't digest oils anymore with no gallbladder and apple cider vinegar is killing my stomach lately so I have learned to eat my salads with extra pickles, grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms and I do add some olives. Basically whatever is on the salad bar that looks good I add it in like a few beets which I hate and Cheese which I love. Beets are better eaten in a banana smoothie where you can't taste them.
