Question since you have 32 years of welding and manufacturing, do you not find it strange that they do not weld that tube all the way around I can’t say I am a Wilder, but I work on city buses and whenever we weld a tube back on a bus that has been Damaged all the tubes are welded all the way around so why aren’t these buses? Also have laminated panels of fiberglass or aluminum on the sides so can you answer that question for me please and if not the manufacturer also if they can answer that question.

@@ferminamezquita5422 definitely would be stronger but maybe they do it to let condensation out or bc it would add stress. That aluminum is paper thin. Time will tell
@ferminamezquita5422
@ferminamezquita5422 2 ай бұрын
I’m sorry, but that answer is not good enough because on buses there are we put in for condensation and they showed the walls later and there was no welding done on them on the outside or the inside. I think that’s why a lot of those motorhomes are having a lot of problems.

40:00 mark describes the outside walls on my Forest River Arctic Wolf 3660SUITE. They underlayment I believe is luan which expanded creating vertical ridges across the entire side, both sides. Those don't concern me but the bulge at the rear of the front bed slide does, and it is not from water damage.

Interesting video. I'm surprised the cutoff saws aren't automated. They would have a lot more precision and consistency. The important thing about lamination is that the adhesive makes a good bond between the parts. How that bond is accomplished has no real involvement in the life span.

I wish Alliance made smaller/ lighter campers in their Delta line, currently their lightest trailer has a dry weight of 4,992lbs. That’s too heavy for most SUVs and the market seems to favor the smaller trailers right now. Hopefully they release something in the future as they look very well made.

Interesting, Didn’t notice them chamfering the tubing where they join and weld. But did see grind marks. If it wasn’t chamfered welds could crack were grinded.. Noticed woman and guy routing didn’t have respirators on. Dust from material could cause medical problems down the road. Metal working and welding are two of my expertises. Metal working could lead to cancers later in life which I unfortunately found out. Good video Josh and thanks to Alliance
@JoshtheRVNerd
@JoshtheRVNerd 3 ай бұрын
I asked Drew about that. This is what he had to say: _“Chamfering tubes is typically done on material that is at least 3mm thick. It’s done to maximize strength and weld penetration. Because of the material we use, the welding wire we use, and the fact we pulse weld we can achieve maximum strength without having to chamfer the material first. We have been working with our welding specialists to develop a quality control process that will help us to continuously monitor this exact situation. We will use a Dye Penetrant combination. This will allow us to ensure optimal weld penetration and greatly reduce the potential for failure.”_

A real pro of their construction is putting bracing around the portals! Unfortunately, they should consult a structural engineer to optimize what they are doing there because making a couple of changes will actually help resist the forces perpendicular to the wall generated by the slideout movements much better. They do seem to also incorporate more framing in their walls than I have seen in several of their competitors. 👍 The insulation... Well, there’s so much better material available today but what they (and many others) are using is as cheap as it gets and can be called insulation... ☹️
