This generation of Lexus ES is/was pretty attractive, same thing with the Camry that this generation was based off on.

Yeah I remember when these things came out back in 2001, looking at the car head on, they looked pretty wild back then.

I have a 1992 xv10 Camry, same length of 188" as the XV10 es300. This is the size of a W210 and E39 5 series.A few people would act shocked when I said they were the same size and a couple people I talked to denied it and said I was wrong. Always found this odd, the Camry/ES300 have always been quite big even within the midsize segment, obvious from just looking at them, and the last couple generations of ES transferred to a stretched Avalon platform, turning it into a now full sized sedan, as big as the LS400/430 used to be. I love my 1992 Camry, it is the generation known for very closely resembling theucf10 LS400. Toyota tried to differentiate the Toyota models over generations, I think they realized looking too similar gave Lexus that "fancy Camry" stigma. The ES300 had a more Lexus like butt and front and rear facia, but the Camry had the framed windows and side markers with a slightly more upright/less tapered rear that was more similar to the LS400. Either way, just love the old Lexus models, especially the bubble gens including the SC coupe

Yeah I love the old Lexus models also. The 1992 ES300 is beautiful and the Camry of that era manages to look modern. The 1990 LS400 pictured in this video has aged very well also. Yes, the new ES is based off the Avalon now, but many still refuse to consider the newer ES a full-size for whatever reason, so thanks for not following the crowd.

Look at some pictures of my 2003 that I’ve modified and tell me it’s ugly. I get compliments all the time. I actually just got the front windows re-tinted to match the darkness of the rears and the shop owner said it was the cleanest used Lexus he’s ever seen and couldn’t believe the mileage was 280K.

Thank you for your efforts once again. I rode in a second generation owned by two different drivers. One was red and one was gold. I thought the ride was rough and not smooth. I liked you featured the JDM name and model as well. You keep throwing in those tidbits like that. It is appreciated. I recall when came out after the LS400 years ago. The GS got lost in the shuffle as the Lexus brand was building I think. I used to often wonder what is the difference between this and a Toyota Camry XLE. You have to admit they tried to hide the Camry roots in the American market, but if you are into cars it is obvious. The front end styling on the current one is out there. It is still quite a luxurious car. Thank you for another interesting video.

Yeah it’s a shame they basically allowed the GS to become obsolete by neglecting it and not keeping it up to date. I understand sales declined, but I think it could’ve been different had they made the GS more competitive with the 5 and E.

The fist generation GS looked like a GM car and it was not much smaller than the LS series. I recall that anf thought it was interesting. They changed it and it got smaller. It was intended to compete against the BMW 5 Series and E Class Mercedes Benz, but it was getting hit on both sides inside Lexus from the LS and the ES. You are right about what you are saying. Another point I did want to add the Toyota Avalon was knocking on the Lexus door too with the looks and features.

Owning an 05, I think its ugly, but "charming ugly". Viewed from a high level it actually looks slightly sporty. A 2 door Corvette-ish version would legit look badass. The inside is just awesome though 👌
