This series is perfect for my skill level because I'm very comfortable with ascension zero and know the words on mostly every card and relic, but this helps build good habits and theory for pushing higher ascensions (my highest ascension is currently a7 on silent)

Just wanted to drop back in and say that your comments on Dark Embrace were SO helpful. I was always reluctant to take it on early floors without exhaust already in my deck, but after this video, I gave it a shot and blasted through A17 after being stuck for WEEKS. You're doing the Lord's work!

That Knowing Skull was much braver than I could ever be even on A1 lol! I am excited to see if hubris causes any otherwise preventable deaths, as that's likely where I go wrong when I go from A20H to A1H.

Why is it that when I watch someone else play, I can correctly guess which cards to play (I try to pause and think what will be played then check to see if the streamer does the same or different), but when I'm playing, I have a crayon lodged into my brain?

I really appreciate the elite information you gave. I’ve just started getting into this game and this series has been very helpful for understanding the game better. I do have a suggestion though, I think it might be better for information retention, and pacing, to do one elite at a time (start, after act 1 boss, after act 2 boss). The information is number heavy, which can tend to blend together over time. This could also allow some more depth and practical examples for each as you play the act (and an easy topic to default back to if you’re steam rolling the early ascensions or get lucky rewards).

I like the idea of covering the different act elites over the next 4 (3 now) videos. Good way to avoid information overload. This series rocks!

Great presentation and explanation, hit A20 on Ironclad after watching your runs and spireside chats (really enjoyed the one on how you think about strategy games with the optimal vs nemesis play breakdown). Could have styled on the heart though with a 1 card unceasing top flash of steel kill ;) Cheers!

You will almost assuredly see one on this ladder. But once you have Dark Embrace in play the pyramid isn’t doing a ton to change how an exhaust build works, imo. Especially if you have corruption.

So, then I have a relatively complex question I have been in before that after 4k hours, I still feel like I don’t have the best answer to. You have a run where you kind of have to take two elites in a row on A20 with only a shop in between and your boss is the Guardian and with three fights and a campfire before the elites. Between the first two fights, the best cards you get are a Rampage and a Pommel Strike, which signals to me that I don’t think I will struggle that much with Lagavulin, but Sentries and Nob are still up in the air, and a weakening potion which I intend to use as a supplement for Nob or Laga if I need it. However, I feel like I’d still struggle with Sentries. On the third fight’s card reward, I find an Evolve, a Wild Strike, and a Shrug it Off. What card do you click, and what do you upgrade? Evolve would be taken as a specific counter pick to sentries, which is a fight I’m actively worried about, Wild Strike would be taken as a potential boost to any elite fight, but is not a card I’d like in the long run, and Shrug is just a decent card that hurts against Gremlin Nob. Is it worth it to take a card just as a counter pick, or do you take the strong card now, or the card that will be decent throughout the run? In terms of upgrades, I’m already kind of leaning towards a Bash upgrade or a Rampage upgrade to just really solidify a win against the other two elites, but no upgrade I currently have really helps much with sentries at all. I don’t think an upgrade is worth specifically a counter pick, but I might be wrong here as well. Also, is my evaluation right? I feel like I end up in similar situations to this relatively often, but some are more clear-cut than others.

Jorbs - if somethink went/going bad why u dont restart battle/choice by "save and quit" then returning? For example - u attacked but had to defense so u saving and quit, then returning starting battle again and making good choice. Second example - book event (i think about necronomicon) when u lose HP for relict, so if u dont want the relict just restart by saving, quiting, returning and take HP back, SAME thing with minus HP relict chance event.
@andrewdevita6292 жыл бұрын
Not to speak for Jorbs, but that can certainly be unsatisfying. If you make a mistake then you should live with the mistake. It's good if you realize the mistake, certainly, but going back and having that safety net does affect the skill gains overall. And also it does feel kinda cheap.
@Jorbs2 жыл бұрын
i do not do that because most players would consider it cheating. i don't think there's anything wrong with you doing it in your own runs if it's how you enjoy to play though!

I think i might be underestimating powers like noxious fumes and footwork. Maybe poison too. Sometimes i feel like these cards don't do enough the turn you play them, like spending the mana on them is not worth then they feel like a curse on the deck.
