It's never enough to stress that using weightlifting shoes makes a HUGE difference in squat and front squat, specially for those with ankle mobility restrictions, like myself

This. Weightlifting shoes changed my life as my ankles are super weird and lack some mobility.

@@evildead2002 if you can get into below parallel squat comfortably then I'd say not necessarily. Just get flat hard shoes. In my opinion of course.

Controversial but I've ditched squats as my primary leg exercise in favor of the 45 degree leg press. I believe for bodybuilding purposes it allows me to safely reach failure which is where most of the growth is. Then I'll do free weight as accessories so that I don't completely neglect stabilizers.
@Jay-we2ek3 жыл бұрын
At 45° your only pressing a fraction of the weight you put on the machine. Go for it, if you like it,fair enough, but imo those leg press machines are a load of crap. If it works for you, do it though 👍

Hey Scott! Your videos have been an immense help to me! I decided to start taking my fitness seriously and I've gained over 20 lbs of (mostly) muscle--shooting for 30 soon! The problems is I have an injury at my lower back and my doctor wants me to keep weight off it, so my legs are still pretty lacking in muscle growth. Do you know anything I can do to get hypertrophy in my quads/hamstrings without loading my back? Thank you

Due to shoulder pain I can only use a safety squat bar. Is it normal to use less weight on this bar than a barbell?

The reverse lunge is absolutely brutal on your quads and glutes. I workout in my basement and have to crawl up like a demon after I do reverse lunges. Heavy squats and heavy deadlifts do not even do that. As for that knees over toes thing. I used to have knee problems when I was a Freshman in high school but when I started letting my knees go past my toes most of my knee pain went away.

In any exercises which are simular to a Squat you will not train your hamstrings at all, there are studies with beginners,... The freemotion of the sissy Squat is very shaky and you are not able to lift with the same form as the training before so it is shit and with the legextension machine you can easy go more than 90° and the legextension have the highest resistance at the top of the movement so it is the perfekt exercise to combine it with a exercise which have the greatest resistance at the low end of the movement. By the way the greatest quad activitation you have with a movement with a linear resistance curve like a deep hacksquat with Bands. The knees should move far away from the feet for the highest activitation of the quads.

A narrow stance reduces the squat depth. A deeper squat activates the glutes/hammies more, not the quads. So a narrow squat stance is more quad-dominant because it reduces glute activation. For someone who shames others for ignorance and false info, I thought Scott would know better.
