I got a 5 month old kitten He is the smartest cat I’ve ever encounter. With Zero clicker and just verbal commands and positive rewards only, he is trained enough to only get on the bed when called, he walks in the room when called, seats and gives paw, gives kisses and knows “up” “down” “food” “lay” “relax” “window” I can only imagine what he will be capable of with a clicker

Those type of treats are heaven. I always use them as rewards and also when I need to give them meds. The clicker looks super awesome, I would love to see you use it in a training example.

I give my cat subcutaneous fluids 3 times a week to manage her kidney disease and those churo treats saved me. My cat is no longer anxious about the needle 'cause she knows there's a good reward waiting for her

This is the single most valuable, comprehensive but abbreviated demonstration of clicker training i have been lucky enough to stumble upon. For real. She didn't get the purpose of the other clicker the way i thought i was doing it right. This short deserves an award. From it, i got: · Positioning is super important- almost looking up at me · 1 click:1 squeeze · Rhythm and pacing · Dab my finger with treat and nonchalantly waive it around her have while i talk to her and coax her. Today, after 1 session yesterday, she immediately knew all the little things✨ Amazing

I trained my cat but by clicking my tongue she responded every time I called her, it was her name following the clicking tongue sound, it was a sound that I used especially for important situations and most of the time subsequently a treat.✨️ But I live with my family and everyone decide they will make her come to them, so they learn my clicking tongue sound and started using it just for the pleasure of doing it. So yes, she doesn't respond at all now, and this isn't the first time they do this🥲

One of my cats won’t eat treats though, not even churru. She still comes when called and will leave the room if I tell her “let’s go” but I have no idea how I trained her. She loves to be with me and get pets, she just doesn’t like to eat in public. She only eats when nobody is watching.

People say "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" but I infact have trained my 10 year old cat to sit, shake, lie down, and spin. He is just way to enthusiastic about it now so he'll stay guarding the treat cabinet, pleading... Or sometimes he'll put his paw out and smell your other hand expecting it to work like a magic treat dispenser lol. Sometimes he'll even sit there with his paw out looking at your hands like a treat will appear

My young kitty wouldn't let me hold her when she was little and wild, but every time she let me pick her up and hold her I gave her a kitty treat. She doesn't exactly sit on my lap, but I do get a kitty hug more often. Jackson's cat in this video looks just like my sweet Gypsy girl

What happens when your cats are not food motivated? Getting one of my cat to eat and gain weight was my biggest challenge over his entire life! Initially I tried that…you eat what I give you; to eat at a specific time or no food…and now over 10 years later what you want to eat, you don’t want this? How about this? Are you hungry? You eating?, good boy! 😂😂😂 Think I got meow trained..😂

Clicker training is not only great way to teach both a cat and dog something, but like you said it can be an Amazing way to build a very good bond with your pet.

Yes, any sort of training is good for that. Just make it into a fun game, not longer than 10 minutes or so at a time, and they will love learning new stuff.

Ohhhh ...those "squeezy treats" are magic in a tube lol. Been trying to introduce a former outside stray cat (after vet check/meds and neutering) with my 3 inside cats. They will sit so close to each other now just by squeezing a little treat on the floor in front of each of them. 💜

I started training my cat with a clicker, it worked great. She now prefers tricks without the use of clicker. She responds well to verbal cues/words. Can also use your mouth to imitate:create clicking sounds if you don’t have one or can’t afford one.

I’ve trained my cat to wink at me when she wants down and when she wants food. She picked it up very fast but then after a few weeks refused to do it, so I would wink at her and pet her until she did it and she has done it ever since. I don’t even know why I did this. But it’s adorable.

Gosh, I love clicker training our ginger. I'm running out of ideas to teach him things. He's learning to jump over the tunnel we got him recently at the moment and. . .picked up on in seconds. Target sticks help a LOT for directing him since I taught him early touching it is rewarding. I just wish our second cat showed interest in it, its a lot harder to teach a cat that won't acknowledge one of your tools and zeros in on the treat.

I have 2, 7 month olds, they seem brilliant the way they solve their way around getting into hard to get things. THEY ARE VERY TREAT MOTIVATED however. Still getting to know them, it'll be 3 months pretty soon

My cat does nose nose, shakes hands (or paw), hi fives and rolls over. My dad taught my other cat to bitey bear where she bear hugs your arm and gently bites your hand (if you try to do more than one trick without giving her a treat then she isn’t gentle).

Question, how did you differentiate between 'paw' and 'high five'? I can get our ginger to give me his paw. . .but he can't figure out a high five consistently.

@@hallaloth3112 Keep trying. I can’t get my cat to figure out lie down but he will roll over. Hold your hand higher for hi five gradually maybe? The thing about cats is that you can’t tell if they don’t know the trick or just don’t want to do a trick.

@@originalvonster Lol, so much truth to that. He 'kinda' gets it. Right now he hooks his paw around my thumb, but he sometimes hits the mark. May have to backtrack and a little and try more targeted paw practice. I know for 'lie down' I had to gently push him down the first few times, letting him paw at the treat I was using to guide his nose.

Lots of patience, lots of practice. One trick at a time until they have it down pat. Start with 'sit' honestly and branch out from there. If they have an interst they will pick up on it FAST.

I trained my cat to come to a clicking noise I make with my tongue. Come is the only command because he sneaks out of my apartment and into the downstairs neighbor's. Also he gets aggressive when you move him sometimes. When I click he moves himself so there isn't any aggression.

I've been clicker training with my cats for decades, and I love the results. I had a Siamese rescue who needed to be challenged and kept busy. He was so smart and would sit, sit pretty, high five (left and right... he actually knew his left from his right), fetch, lay down, jump up, jump down, stay, and so much more! I'll have to try that type of treat.

I have a very nice clicker with a very soft sound that I use for Luxor. The problem i have with him is he BITES the tube of treats and tries to steal it, so i have to use soft treats instead

Great tip about the paste treats and how to use them. My cat loves paste treats exactly as much he doesn’t love other kinds of treats- the others wear off as a motivator very quickly indeed.

The problem is the cat in the back is gonna learn that a click does not always mean a treat. Only a problem if you are using the same auditory marker for behaviour.

That cat is a beautiful Sokoke! If you're not familiar with the breed look it up! They're amazing. My baby was a Sokoke, he passed over last year. 💗🙏 He was brilliant! So very smart and loving! that's exactly why you start training! our 6 month kitten did that just a few times... it looked cute, but momma wasn't having that! he grabbed the hand that fed him, with nails and held/ forced it to give up the treats. cute, but very painful. and using more force when they grow up isn't an option. right now, he sits before he gets a treat, knows to wait a little while. and it'll help going forward. good luck with training those homicidal muffins!

We're having that problem with our newer cat even with his food. He is now having to sit and WAIT before I put his bowl down. He's . . .not interested in my target stick so teaching anything beyond sit has been difficult. He'll sit for treats, not his food yet without a lot of insistence. Some decide to mind faster than others.

I started training my cat when when I found out she would do anything for a treat but if her attention gets disturbed while training I will snap my fingers to get her attention back to me.Might get a clicker and see if she does even better with one.she can walk on a leash,stand on hind legs and give kisses,shake and hi five.I just started trying to teaching her to jump thru a hoop.i want to teach her more tricks but not sure what to try and teach her.

You don't need a clicker, cats will respond to your voice and and body language which can have a lot more meaning than a noise maker. A clicker has no vocabulary

Hi Kerry, one of our cats has food allergies. What I do is reward him with some of this food from my hand as a treat. All our cats eat three meals a day and if they get a piece in between it is a treat to them even if it is just normal food.

Plumms diet contains chicken, however, when I tried plain cooked chicken as a treat, he would immediately lick his belly again so much it gets nearly bald and starts scratching his ears very bad. So I only give him little portions of his diet as a treat from my hand. As long as he only eats this he is ok.

Weird but both of my cats just learned through association, I also think cats understand a lot more language than we realise. In their house (where I also happen to live), they are the ones with the clicker, not me. I also can't quite understand how I end up playing with their Christmas cat toys more than they do? 🤣 😂 🤷
