Little-known (apparently) fact: her name is pronounced Tih-rihs, not Tye-ris, if the kana is anything to go by. Also, in the TurboGrafx CD version of the game, the king and princess ask her name at the end, and that's how she pronounces it.

The actual kana is ティリス (ti-ri-su) in case anyone's wondering. Yet another funfact: "su" is the closest phoneme in Japanese to the sound of sibilant S in English. Another example: Tails -> テイルス (te-i-ru-su)
