Today we put our new Japa 471 live deck to use. This is a VERY effective tool for our firewood production. Running logs thru the processor is much more efficient and we can make more firewood faster!

Love the new machine and love the fact that you are being able to test and display/advertise the new products for Japa. One thing Japa might want to look into is the saw dust extraction system. I can't believe they only have an opening in the frame. You might want to suggest to them that they develop some kind of chute, tube, blower, something. Your trash can idea is great, now if they can neatly and efficiently get the dust into it.

RPM has everything to with the speed at which these tractors operate. The hydraulic fluid flows faster as you raise the rpm. So, everything driven hydrostaticly will move faster. The forks get very "jerky" when the engine is revved up.

Hi Joe. Looking great there! That live deck makes a decent debarker for those ash logs! I cleaned out my trailer the other day when it thawed and I got 3 wheelbarrows of bark. Only slightly downside of all the new machines is a good bit more things to keep an eye on and maintain. You already know that. That's why I'm interested in the pto drive processer. No engine or fuel system and I have 3 tractors already. Looking for that video. Thanks for showing off.... I mean demonstrating that lovely firewood production .system. Take care. Chris

You know engine oil, grease, hydraulic oil filters etc. The removable splitter is neat. That would make sharpening easy. Always a good idea to cool down your equipment before shut down especially the diesel tractor. One thing I would add is a Optimate battery charger. It will always top up the battery for you and extent the battery life. For 50$ it will ensure that your day is going to start well.👍🇨🇦

A great machine set up! I do see one thing that needs to be re-designed. The saw dust blows out willy nilly next to the motor and that has to be going into the air filter. Hi Joe, your process is looking super slick now! How long does it take to process a full cord? The thing that I really like is that you now have the flexibility to just keep running the Jappa without stopping, by getting someone (like a family member) to either run the machine or load poles onto the live bed. I guess, on a nice day, you can output on to the floor and scoop up with the Bobcat, you’ve just got so many options now! A couple of things which, I think, could be better: 1. The sawdust out feed at the back of the machine could do with a chute to make sure more goes into the bin, and less over the back of the machine. 2. The “interference” between the elevator steps and the strip seems a bit too much and a bit noisy.

Thanks MPH. I have the adapter for the sawdust chute. That is on my list of things to do. I'm not sure I understand #2. What do you mean about the steps and the strip? Thanks for watching! Joe

Someone over Japa has been doing their homework! I watched them run these at Paul Bunyan show, several years ago and they were not impressive at all compared to the other manufacturers. They have made so many changes since then to get to where they are now. The only thing I see the same is the Red Paint! Have a Happy Easter...

You saw the Honda too. I bought my first Honda tiller over 30 yrs ago. Regular maintenance and she still fires on the 1st pull. Btw.... It still has the original spark plug but the tines are rounded and worn. It must have several hundred hours by now.

Now that you have a taller conveyor, you may want to make the sides taller on your dump trailer. The less pushing and pulling wood in your trailer the better.
